112. Ember McClain Ember McLain is a hard-rocking ghost girl who feeds off the idol worship in teenagers. She could also be the ghostly embodiment of teenage rebellion and disobedience to authority figures, as she disobeys Mr. Lancer's command to leave the Casper High campus immediately. Making her debut in Fanning the Flames, Ember used her abilities and popstar status to dominate the world, keeping Danny distracted by placing a love spell on him that makes him fall in love with Sam which keeps him busy while Ember busies herself with her plans. However, the spell is later broken when Sam, in a desperate move, kisses Dash right in front of Danny. Heartbroken and finally out of the spell, he fights Ember, and ultimately gets Tucker Foley to sing (who is notorious for being a bad singer), causing the hypnotized crowd to stop cheering for Ember, whose powers then fizzle out to nothing as a result, and was banished to the Ghost Zone by Danny Phantom. She later attempted to exit the Ghost Zone a few days later in the episode "13", where she was shown in a line heading directly to the Human World. Her other appearance was in the episode "Pirate Radio" where Ember creates a song that adults get hypnotized by (actually a mellow, ballad version of Remember) so that they go to a fake cruise, called M. Bersback, which is merely the poorly hidden message "Ember's back". With this, she teams up with Captain Youngblood. However, she just leaves/escapes the ship after she accidentally burns the ship's sail in the middle. Despite her involvement in the plot, she is not the primary villain of the episode. She came back in Reign Storm with numerous ghosts who fled the Ghost Zone when Pariah Dark was woken up. Later in the same episode she along Danny's other enemies teamed up to help Danny fight off the ghost king's army. In "Identity Crisis" Danny, Sam and Tucker check out Ember's file on Danny's computer hinting he might have fought with Ember before the beginning of the episode since Danny mentioned sending her back to the Ghost Zone. In an alternate future (seen in The Ultimate Enemy), Ember is overweight and can no longer sing due to her vocal cords being damaged by Dark Danny. She makes a cameo in "The Fright Before Christmas" as one of the many ghosts helping Danny save Christmas. In "Girl's Night Out", Ember teams up with Kitty and Spectra in a joint attempt to eliminate all men. It's also revealed that Ember is Skulker's girlfriend, and that she has often picked on him for his lack of skill in hunting. She also says he can't even find the TV remote. Ember's final appearance is in the series finale, Phantom Planet. While only appearing in a few frames, she is one of the many ghosts who helps Danny and Skulker turn the entire planet intangible, so that an asteroid can pass through it. Ember's self, appearance and song has made her one of the most popular ghosts in the series, she has made various appearances in the show and has helped Danny saved the world a few times.

111. Nanao Ise (Bleach) Nanao first appears when she notifies her captain of the impending threat of outsiders, the closest of which is Chad. When Kyôraku confronts Chad, he has Nanao throw flower petals over them for dramatic effect. She eventually gets annoyed and throws the entire basket of petals at him. After Chad loses, she wants to finish him off, but is stopped by Kyôraku. [3] She later berates her captain for his lack of action as the execution of Rukia Kuchiki approaches, especially as he is thinking more about taking a nap and how General Yamamoto will likely criticize his course of action in the end. Nanao accompanies Kyôraku to the execution and escapes with him when Kyôraku and Jûshirô Ukitake stop Sôkyoku from killing Rukia. When Yamamoto confronts Kyôraku and Ukitake for their act, Nanao reasons that she can at least do a little to help stall him. She underestimates just how powerful he is, however, and ends up losing her ability to even move after a mere look from Yamamoto. She is evacuated from the scene by her captain, unable to speak and worried that they will be slaughtered. Not much is known about Nanao's zanpakutô and she is very rarely seen with it. An illustration in the artbook "All Color but the Black" reveals that her zanpakutô takes the form of what appears to be either a wakizashi or tantô, which she seems to conceal within her sleeve. When on the verge of fighting, she puts her hand inside her uniform, supporting the possibility. A less common theory is that the heavy book she always carries is in fact her zanpakutô, similar to the method in which Yamamoto disguises Ryûjin Jakka. Additionally, since her zanpakutô is much shorter than the average sword, it could very well fit within such a disguise. In the game Bleach: Heat the Soul 3, Nanao wields a dagger, but it is not clear if it is meant to be her zanpakutô.

110. Seras Victoria (Hellsing) Seras was originally a policewoman who, along with the rest of her squad, was sent into Cheddar Village, where a vampire disguised as a priest had taken control of the town and turned its inhabitants into ghouls (zombies). Taken hostage by that vampire, who used her as a human shield, she was given a "choice" by Alucard: she could either die together with the vampire, or be turned into a vampire herself, and live. She chose to live, and so Alucard turned her into a vampire, her virgin blood allowing her to successfully make the transition from human to vampire (non-virgin or same-sex vampire victims become ghouls). She was employed by the Hellsing Organization immediately afterwards. Seras is a strong willed woman, and apparently had always been since childhood which is confirmed through her flashbacks. Seras is often considered a tomboy; a very brave, strong-willed and heroic young woman who often rejects following orders of her master, that cross with her personal beliefs. However, she is a loyal and trustworthy soldier who will diligently follow the orders of her commander, provided said commander has proven his or her worth. Her level of maturity in comparison to the other characters is somewhat questionable; she seems to be the child the others could not be, yet possessing a sort of worldly maturity and superficial intelligence that most other characters lack, as well as a sort of 'nature winning against nurture' mentality, as opposed to most other characters. She's the "light that stands out from the darkness" (quoting Kouta Hirano from a recent interview). Her actual age is not known but she is generally believed to be at least 18 and is popularly believed to be 19 or 20, the approximate age of the main female characters Mina Harker and Lucy Westenra. The most possible, though, is the latter, since she had already joined the police force at the start of the manga, making the age of 18 unlikely. Seras's father, also a police officer, "got in too deep" during an undercover mission. The group he had infiltrated traced him back to his home and brutally murdered him. Her mother hid Seras in a closet and then walked out to face the criminals, who immediately killed her as well. A distraught Seras charged out and stabbed one of the criminals in the eye with a fork before being shot in the gut and thrown against a wall. The flashback ends with Seras seeing glimpses of the criminals having sex with her mother's dead body. It was also shown that, after the ordeal in her orphanage, she threw a stone at another child for taking a toy she was playing with. Near the end of the flashback, Seras is told that she may be relocated if her violence continues, as the orphanage may not be able to care for her any longer. There, she expresses her strongest wish, to become a police officer.

109. Rei Hino aka Sailor Mars (Sailor Moon) Rei's history is largely the same across the different versions of the story, but her personality varies wildly. In the manga she is portrayed as calm, serious, and practical. Her greatest dream is to remain exactly where she is, at the Hikawa Shrine, and become its head priestess. She distrusts most men and discourages her friends from developing romantic relationships. In the anime Rei is quite different—fiery, boy-crazy, and ambitious, longing to one day become a singer, model, and voice actress. She frequently engages in petty arguments with Usagi, who she sees as immature, and although she becomes calmer as the series progresses, remains somewhat more of a typical teenager than her manga counterpart. Anime Rei also tends to engage in long periods of sticking her tongue out at Usagi (who returns the favor), as a kind of running gag of their arguments. Rei goes to a different school from the other girls, namely T*A Private Girls School, a Catholic institution run by nuns. She herself is a practitioner of Shinto, living and working at Hikawa Shrine with her maternal grandfather, its head priest. Her mother died when Rei was very young; her father is a high-class and famous politician who cares more about his job than about her (though in the live-action version he still tries to be involved in her life), and who only visits Rei on her birthday. She carries a certain amount of bitterness toward him, especially in the live-action series, in which the character of her grandfather does not exist. Other characters frequently comment on Rei's beauty and elegance—in her first appearance, these traits even lead Luna to suspect that she could be the Princess they have been searching for. However, her strange psychic talents have caused some to be afraid of her, and her distant nature makes her unreceptive to close friendship. Rei does treasure the friends she has, which consist entirely of the other Senshi, and although she sometimes adopts an aloof, big-sisterly attitude around them, this façade is frequently broken by her own enthusiasm, her genuine affection for all of them, and her sharp tongue. Because of the lack of respectable males in her life, the manga and live-action Rei harbors a generally low opinion of all men. She considers them emotionally weak and untrustworthy and seems genuinely uninterested in romance. The one exception is in a manga side-story centering around her, Casablanca Memories, which tells of Rei's friendship with her father's young secretary, Kaidou. He had been kind to her for her entire life and, in the story, she fancies herself in love with him. She is shocked when he suddenly announces his engagement to another girl and his decision to become a politician, despite having once said that he didn't like what had happened to Rei's family as a result of her father's work. In the anime, however, she dates Mamoru Chiba for a short while before he and Usagi become friends, and occasionally seems open to a relationship with her grandfather's pupil. Late in the manga, members of the Dead Moon Circus harass Rei with a reflection of her young self, which mocks her for her friendships and her dream of being a priestess. The reflection tells her that the only way for her to be happy is to try her luck with numerous men until she ends up married to someone rich. Rei is able to defeat this illusion, and in the process gains her Sailor Crystal along with the memory that, long ago, she had in fact made a vow of chastity to Princess Serenity. After this realization, she is never again shown having any doubts about her lack of interest in romance. This is never mentioned in the other series, although late in the anime she expresses an intention to remain single forever. Much of Rei's life is influenced by her spirituality, particularly in the manga. Meditation is given as her strong point, and she enjoys fortune-telling as a hobby. The elegance of her character is further underscored by the contrast between her favorite subject, ancient writing, and her least favorite, modern society. She also belongs to the Archery club at school, which later provides the context for her most powerful weapon, the Mars Arrow. As for more general tastes, it is mentioned in the manga that Rei enjoys fugu, a type of blowfish which is both highly toxic and considered a delicacy in Japan. Other favorite things include pandas and the colors red and black; dislikes include men as well as television and canned asparagus. Rei stands about 160 centimeters tall (5 ft 3 in), and her blood type is AB. Just as Rei is more fiery in the anime than in the manga, she is changed again in the dubbed series. Although shots of her actually slapping Usagi are removed, remarks about her childishness and unreliability are more frequent and often harsher. In episode 43 of the original, Sailor Mars is briefly entrusted with the Moon Stick, which she explains to the others as proof that she and Sailor Moon don't hate each other. In the dubbed equivalent, she says that Sailor Moon left it at her house by accident and that she took it because she would make a better leader. Other episodes add dialogue in which "Raye" tells people off or is rude to them, where in the original she is only mildly frustrated. Though Rei and Usagi's arguments are a constant in the anime series, it is shown several times that Rei is in fact Usagi's closest friend among the Senshi. Rei is the last Senshi to die in the battle against the DD Girls in the first arc's finale, and when Sailor Galaxia kills all the Guardian Senshi, it is Sailor Mars to whom Sailor Moon immediately rushes towards. She has a difficult time trusting people, even her fellow Senshi, and has a tendency to rely too much on herself. She claims to hate karaoke (which the other girls love, especially Usagi), but is later coerced by Minako into posing as an idol—exactly what her anime counterpart wishes. Under the name "Mars Reiko," she appears on three occasions: performing for hospitalized children, working alongside Minako, and staging a contest with Minako in order to stop her from quitting the idol business. She has a complex relationship with Minako; though they often disagree and compete with each other, they also share great respect. Minako even sometimes lets her guard down around Rei, and eventually confides to her about what she feels is her destiny as a Senshi. Rei is told that she is to be the secondary leader of the Senshi and alternately admires and resents Minako's teachings about what that means. The kanji of Rei's surname translate as "fire" (hi?) and "field" (no?). Her given name is in katakana (rei?) and therefore difficult to translate. Possible meanings include "spirit", "companion," "cool" and "zero" with the first being most commonly assumed. Because katakana is the alphabet usually used for foreign loanwords, it may also be intended as a Western name such as Ray. Regardless, the entire name is structured as a pun, as the syllable "no" indicates a possessive, so that her name can also be understood as "Rei of Fire." In an early DiC promotional tape that advertised Sailor Moon to television stations, Rei was called Dana.

108. Mihoshi Kuramitsu (Tenchi Muyo) In the OVA, Mihoshi is a Seniwan and a member of the Kuramitsu family, whose power is second only to the Jurai Royal Family. Mihoshi is known as one of the finest officers in the Galaxy Police, but her career soon hit a major roadblock after an incident hinted at in the 4th episode of the 1st OVA, and the 4th episode of the 3rd one. Now she suffers from frequent difficulties to focus on a single thought track and, due to her clumsiness, she causes a lot of collateral damage during her assignments, leading her to be demoted. The desk of the Section 7 commander is covered with misconduct reports and bills from all the damages she causes. As a result, she was assigned to a special area of the galaxy, the Sol system, which was Juraian territory, in the vain hope that she wouldn't cause any more trouble. However, when Kagato closed in on this area, Mihoshi's immediate superior, Captain Nobeyama, assigned her to monitor the area and report if Kagato came near. However, Mihoshi misinterpreted those orders and took it upon herself to capture him, which panicked Nobeyama. But when she got near Earth, her shuttle was pulled into an energy vortex caused by a monster Ryoko had created to attack Ayeka. Mihoshi almost ended up getting sucked into the black hole the opening created if Tenchi Masaki had not caught her. As a result, Mihoshi stayed with the Masakis. Like all the other girls living at the Masaki home, she eventually develops an attraction toward Tenchi. When Kagato attacked, it was Mihoshi's causality-bending that released Washu from her crystal prison onboard Soja's 'reversed universe'. When Kagato's serpent guards attacked her, Mihoshi used her control cube in an attempt to stop them and the interference it created somehow freed Washu. (The cube's apparent function is similar to that of a Rubik's cube, and finding the correct combination to produce a desired effect is often problematic for Mihoshi.) Mihoshi somehow constantly enters Washu's subspace lab and breaks things, (much to Washu's consternation, as she STILL can't figure out how Mihoshi can somehow accidentally switch dimensions and bypass all of her lab's security systems), sleeps often, eats like a pig (mostly on junk food, but she exercises often), and is the luckiest officer in the Galaxy Police (though she is also quite competent), though her luck sometimes spells misfortune for others. Washu has great respect for her vast casualty-bending attributes, and Mihoshi has been repeatedly referred to as the only member of the household who can defeat her. Mihoshi is actually the great-great-granddaughter of Washu, through her son Mikumo, although this is only stated outside the series itself, and her grandfather Minami Kuramitsu is the Grand Marshall of the Galaxy Police. Mihoshi's mother Mitoto also works for the Galaxy Police, as a cleaning lady. She also has a younger brother, Misao, who had married Mashisu Makibi. Whether her kinship with and ability to constantly circumvent one of the 11-dimensional Chousin goddesses is a sign that she's yet another of the series' transcendental anomalies is unconfirmed at this point. However, it is noteworthy that her mother Mitoto has a reminiscent ability to subconsciously travel vast interstellar distances. Whether she shares her daughter's causuality-bending talent is unknown at this point, but Minami, Mikami and Misao apparently don't. Although she tends to eat and sleep a lot, Mihoshi is very serious about her job in the G.P, doesn't mind helping out with regular household work, and seems better at it than Ryoko or Ayeka. She has been known to write very extensive and unstructured reports... cluttered with details, so it can sometimes take her superior a while to figure them out. In fact, because her report on the Kagato incident included information on the Jurai royal trees, her report is now TOP SECRET with Jurai Intelligence (Funaho Jurai once confessed to Washu that it took Jurai Intelligence three days to summarize the report). A duplicate report, omitting sensitive information, was submitted in its place. Mihoshi's name refers to the planet "Venus", but in the Western sense as "Pretty Star", not the Chinese sense of "metal star". In OVA 3 (episodes 14-20), she seems to have taken on a few of the characteristics from the other series; she becomes less competent, and appears more confused than usual (though this may simply be a result of her, and much of the regular cast, having less screen time than in the other OVA episodes). She is a former partner of Noike Jurai, who seems embarrassed by Mihoshi's affectionate behaviour, and handles her through yelling and pushing her around. In the Tenchi Universe series, Mihoshi was partnered with Kiyone Makibi, and together, they were known as "Miho-Kiyo" (a portmanteau of Mihoshi and Kiyone; it was coined by Washu in episode 6). She was in pursuit of the notorious space pirate, Ryoko, until they both crash-land onto Earth. Unlike her OAV counterpart, who still was dedicated and competent despite her ditziness, Mihoshi is the comic relief and a "dumb blonde" whose constant bumbling and blunders would often get the group into trouble (especially for Kiyone and Washu). One of her classic blunders was when a single hair from her scalp was able to transfer her personality into Mecha Washu.

107. Princess Fiona {Human Form} (Shrek) In Shrek, Lord Farquaad sends the ogre Shrek to retrieve her to be his bride. When she first appears, she is angered to learn that her rescuer is not her Prince Charming, but an ogre, and that the man who wants to marry her wouldn't come himself. At first, she refuses to travel to Farquaad, but eventually befriends Donkey and develops a bond with Shrek. Her dragon guardian later falls in love with Donkey. Through the course of the film, the audience discovers that she is cursed and while she is a human by day, she becomes an ogress at sunset. The spell was placed upon her when she was a child by a Witch. The spell is lifted at the end, when she is kissed by Shrek and becomes an ogress permanently. In Shrek 4-D, she is kidnapped by the ghost of Lord Farquaad, who intends to kill her, marry her ghost, and become king of the Underworld. He is later 're-killed' by the Dragon which comes to their rescue. Fiona then swallows his remains and rubs her full belly until he's fully digested. This was also featured in the CD-ROM that was distributed widely during the showing of Shrek 2 in theatres. Shrek 2 features her trying to convince Shrek to meet her parents in the kingdom of Far Far Away (resembling the shallowness of Hollywood). They go, and her Fairy Godmother, who had her locked away in the tower to begin with, plots to kill her husband so her son, Prince Charming, can marry her. It turns out that there was a semi-complex plan where the Prince Charming, not Shrek, was supposed to rescue Fiona and marry her. It was the King's way of repaying the Fairy Godmother for a favor she had done him while courting Fiona's mother. In Shrek the Third, Shrek and Fiona are first seen in royal dress that is so tight they can not move. Fiona also shouts out to Shrek (who is sailing away) that she is pregnant, causing him to have nightmares about his future children. She assembles a team of princesses to protect Far Far Away from Prince Charming. Shrek is also seen near a carriage and pulls the blanket away, revealing a baby ogress with a flower on her head. He can only say "Oh, no" before the baby vomits and sends him flying. Later, the baby is seen learning to walk as one of Donkey's children flies around her.

106. Rangiku Matsumoto (Bleach) Rangiku is an attractive woman with long, wavy, strawberry-blonde hair (worn short in her youth) and ice blue eyes. Her most distinctive features are her extremely large breasts, which are even larger than Orihime Inoue's. She also shares Orihime's strange taste in food. She dresses in the garb typical of shinigami, though her robes hang loose enough for her ample bosom to be revealed. She wears a necklace and a pink scarf over her arms. In addition, her lieutenant's armband is worn on her uniform's sash, as opposed to around the arm. Rangiku tends to be a slacker who doesn't like paperwork and loves to drink sake. She's not the least bit modest about her appearance, frequently referring or complaining about her large breasts in casual conversation. She even tries to bribe Ichigo Kurosaki into letting her stay at his house using them, though unsuccessfully. Her easy-going and free-spirited personality is in sharp contrast with the serious Hitsugaya, but the two seem to be quite close, regardless. Rangiku is almost constantly by his side and has shown her loyalty to him on several occasions. While she seems somewhat self-centered, she is sensitive to the feelings of others, evident when she sees the concern Hitsugaya has for Momo Hinamori, the guilt Izuru Kira shares with her when Gin Ichimaru is revealed as a traitor, and when Orihime feels depressed about her role in Ichigo Kurosaki's life. Despite her lackadaisical image, she can be extremely serious when needed. She's shown to be somewhat maternal, especially with Orihime. Not much is mentioned about Rangiku's past. She came from Rukongai and was rescued as a child by Gin Ichimaru; the two soon became friends. In one short chapter from the manga, she was once asked by Ichimaru during her childhood when her birthday was. She replied that she did not know because she had been alone for as far as she could remember. This possibly means she was orphaned since birth. When he heard about this, Ichimaru told her that if this was the case, then her birthday should be set on the day they met (the day she was not alone anymore). It is not known how she became a shinigami or how she became lieutenant of the 10th Division, but it is hinted that she has held the position longer than her current captain has held his. Rangiku first appears at a lieutenants' meeting, the first one in a long time, and subsequently at another lieutenants' meeting, where it is announced that the 11th Division has been nearly annihilated. Rangiku later takes Momo Hinamori to her jail cell after Hinamori loses control upon seeing Sôsuke Aizen's corpse and attacks Ichimaru, whom she suspected was responsible. During Hinamori's time in jail, Rangiku gives her a letter from Aizen, addressed to Hinamori. As the conspiracy revolving around the supposed death of 5th Division Captain Sôsuke Aizen and Rukia Kuchiki's execution begins to escalate, Rangiku stands by her captain's side. At one point, Hitsugaya confronts Gin, whom he suspects of murdering Aizen. When Hitsugaya is trapped between defending Hinamori and fighting Gin, Rangiku steps in to confront her friend and help her captain. Gin, however, leaves the fight without saying a word. She and Hitsugaya attempt to make a final appeal to the Chamber of 46 at the advent of Rukia Kuchiki's execution only to discover all 46 members of the chamber have been killed. Gin's lieutenant, Izuru Kira, leads them away from the chamber. When Hitsugaya decides to return to the Chamber of 46, Rangiku stays behind to fight Kira. Due to her zanpakutô's ability to dissolve into ash, she easily overcomes him (she later jokes that while Kira really was trying to kill her, she wasn't doing the same). Rangiku appears again just before Aizen, Kaname Tôsen, and Gin leave Soul Society. She holds Gin to prevent him from escaping. However, she has no choice but to step back when the negación beams appear. Gin tells her it's a bit disappointing, since he wanted to be held a little bit longer, then apologizes. Rangiku later enters a short depressive state, including getting drunk with Kira and Shûhei Hisagi, but quickly recovers. In the anime, Matsumoto, among others, is assigned by Tôshirô Hitsugaya to defeat the Bount in the human world. She ends up joining Chad, Ururu, and Noba in their battle against Sawatari's doll, Baura. After Ururu is captured in Baura's stomach, she comes up with a plan to free Ururu. Using a kidô spell and Noba's Bount-searching abilities, she is able to locate Sawatari. After an unsuccessful attempt, Chad fires an energy blast at Baura's stomach, releasing Ururu, and Baura and Sawatari withdraw from the fight. After Yumichika Ayasegawa finds the Bount's hideout, Kira, Hisagi, Yumichika, and Matsumoto are ambushed by Ugaki's doll, Gesell. Matsumoto saves Ichigo and his friends from Gesell after they enter the cave, then explains its ability to manifest itself through shadows. After helping to smash everything nearby that can cast a shadow, she is left behind with Rukia, Kon, Chad, and Ririn while Orihime treats their injuries. Later, in Seireitei, she heads a search for the two remaning Bount, Koga Gô and Jin Kariya, with Tôshirô Hitsugaya. However, Koga figures out she is using hell butterflies to convey her messages to the various squads searching for him and destroys them, thus ending any communication. After finding Koga themselves, Hitsugaya orders her and Renji to treat the injured shinigami while he faces off against Koga. Despite the betrayal of Gin, Rangiku remains fairly positive. She is one of six shinigami assigned to aid Ichigo in the human world with the new arrancar threat. She and Hitsugaya appear to be staying with Orihime for the time being. Orihime and Matsumoto appear to get along very well, partly due to Matsumoto's undiscriminating tastebuds. They also form a strong sister-like bond when Rangiku assures Orihime that she is important to Ichigo. When Grimmjow Jeagerjaques leads an assault on the living world with five other arrancar, Rangiku's opponent is the arrancar Nakim. Though she seems to be outmatched at first, it is only because she is buying time for the approval of her application to lift her power limit (a limit placed on all shinigami captains and lieutenants in the human world in order not to cause unnecessary influence). After she lifts the limit, she easily defeats Nakim. Following this incident, Matsumoto and Yumichika Ayasegawa attempt to learn the final release forms of their zanpakutô, but meet with little success (their zanpakutô have personality traits matching theirs) and are soon interrupted by the arrival of the arrancar Luppi and Yammy. Because of Matsumoto's physical appearance, Luppi is particularly keen about killing her after he subdues Hitsugaya and traps Ikkaku Madarame, Matsumoto, and Yumichika with his zanpakutô. While Kisuke Urahara takes on Yammy, Matsumoto distracts the arrogant Luppi while Hitsugaya successfully reforms his dispersed final release and traps Luppi. The fight ends without a victor on either side, as Ulquiorra Schiffer recalls all the arrancar once his mission to obtain Orihime is complete. The turn of events leads the recalling of Hitsugaya's team from the living world and all the shinigami, including Matsumoto, return to the Soul Society. Rangiku's zanpakutô is Haineko. The guard is in the shape of a cat's head, as its name suggests. Its initial release command is "growl" (unare?). In its initial release, Haineko dissolves into ash, which Rangiku can then control. The ash can cut through objects as easily as a sword would, similar in principle to Byakuya Kuchiki's Senbonzakura. In Bleach: Heat the Soul 3, the ash that Haineko produces can form together into a cat or leopard-like animal. Rangiku has not yet mastered the final release of her zanpakutô, though she is trying to learn it; however, Haineko is just as moody, lazy, and selfish as Rangiku is, making progress difficult.

113. Hexadecimal Megabyte's twin sister, also a computer virus, whose face is represented by a series of masks, each portraying a different emotion. Hex also came from the virus Gigabyte. wow, a reboot reference? +5 to whomever submitted that one! I don't know about anyone else, but I know I did. I liked Reboot a lot, but rarely ever talk to anyone who even remembers it, much less like it. Also, I'm liking this countdown it really gives me something to check on and wonder about during the slow periods here at work.

120. Mary Jane Watson (Spiderman: The Animated Series) In Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Mary Jane Watson first meets a 19-year-old Peter Parker in "The Return of the Spider-Slayers" (Season #1 Ep #4). Mary Jane supplants Debra Whitman and Felicia Hardy as his primary love interest. She is last seen in Season #3 Episode 41, "Turning Point," in which the Green Goblin discovers Spider-Man's true identity. In a nod to The Night Gwen Stacy Died, he takes her to the George Washington Bridge. Spider-Man tries to save her, but she falls into a dimensional portal created by his stolen time dilation accelerator (due to the show's censorship no one in the show could die, she was forced into limbo and Spider-Man didn't know about her falling into limbo). In Season 4, a clone of Mary Jane created by Miles Warren appears, and after the death of Mysterio at the end of the ninth episode of Season 4, Spider-Man revealed he was Peter to her and MJ and Peter marry in the first episode of Season 5. Later, her true nature is revealed and she (and a clone of Hydro-Man) dissolve due to their unstable cellular structure. By the series finale, after Spider-Man saved all reality from the villain known as Spider-Carnage, Spider-Man's mystic advisor, Madame Web, promised they would find the real Mary Jane (as she promised when she took Spider-Man from Earth after the Mary Jane clone died before the Secret War, which was a test to see if Spider-Man could stop Spider-Carnage). The "true" Mary Jane is never seen again in this series, but is shown to have been reunited with and married to Peter in the sequel, Spider-Man Unlimited. It was never revealed how she returned (supposedly, the writers left this for the next season, which was never made). However, producer of the previous show, John Semper, revealed if he continued the show, Mary Jane would have been found in a Colonial England No. 120 on this list, No. 1 on mine!

105. Catwoman (Batman: The Animated Series) Catwoman is shown to be a socialite and animal rights activist, which attracts the attention of Bruce Wayne when he's not contending with her as Batman. Initially Selina had blonde hair, coinciding with the release of Batman Returns, in which she was played by blonde actress Michelle Pfeiffer. In the revamp, she appears to have shorter black hair. Whether her hair was dyed or her natural color was never made clear in the series itself, however in the episode "Tyger, Tyger", Selina became a cat/woman hybrid and her hair (or rather fur) was blonde. After learning that her hair dye was tested on animals, she dropped the brand and tried, unsuccessfully, to change the views of the manager of the company. In her first appearance, Catwoman steals a valuable necklace to fund the purchase of land for a mountain lion preserve, encounters Batman in the process, and finds herself undeniably attracted to him. In this moment, they develop an attraction that affects the nature of their cat and mouse relationship during the series. Afterward, by chance, Bruce Wayne dates Selina Kyle with similar results. In the midst of these budding romances, Selina learns that the land she wants has been snatched up by a suspicious cartel, lead by terrorist Red Claw, who will be using the land for their staging area. Batman learns that Catwoman is getting in over her head, and together they fight and defeat the cartel, but Catwoman is arrested. Put on probation in lieu of serving time, Catwoman joins forces with Batman again, fighting the corrupt Industrialist, Roland Daggett and Doctor Milo's plans to spread a disease among the street animals. In Almost Got 'Im, Catwoman rescues Batman from The Joker only to be kidnapped herself by Harley Quinn, which forces Batman to disguise himself as Killer Croc in order to save her. Catwoman eventually returns to thievery when Scarface hires her to steal a rare dissected tiger. When Batgirl returns, Catwoman initially helps her investigate a stolen cat statue, but betrays Batgirl to attempt to steal the statue for herself. She is again a full time thief when she tries to seduce a fully-grown Nightwing into being her accomplice to steal merchandise from Enrique “El Gancho”. Later, in The Cult of the Cat, a strange criminal cult attempts to kill her after she steals from them, bringing her to enlist Batman's aid once more. There were plans for a second Batman Beyond DTV Movie that would have featured Catwoman, but was rejected.[3] Finally, in a 7-minute short film called Chase Me (written by Paul Dini and released with the Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman DVD) Batman catches her stealing from one of Bruce Wayne’s buildings and apprehends her. Like all other characters, Catwoman would have a new design during The New Batman Adventures. Her new in-costume animated appearance also changed when the show's animation style did, becoming more like the Michelle Pfeiffer version, with a black costume, slimmer build, and white face makeup. Details on her change are explored in Batman Gotham Adventures #4.

104. Tayuya (Naruto) Tayuya is the kunoichi of Orochimaru's Sound Four. She is foul-mouthed (a fact for which Jirobo berates her) and ill tempered, but very powerful. Tayuya is very intelligent and can think of strategies and battle tactics on par with Shikamaru Nara. As the only sound-using member of the Sound Four, Tayuya uses a flute in battle. Because this is her only weapon, she avoids close combat at all costs. To help her with this, she can summon three powerful demons, which she controls with Demon Flute: Illusionary Warriors Manipulating Melody (Mateki: Genbusô Kyoku?) by playing specific notes on her flute to achieve specific actions. If the demons aren't enough to keep opponents at bay, she uses her flute to play the War of Evil Men (Makyô no Ran?) and trap the opponent with Demonic Flute: Dream Sound Chain (Mateki: Mugen'onsa?). Once trapped in the genjutsu, the target feels as if they are tied with numerous wires, restricting their movement. Soon after, their flesh will begin to melt away from their bones, causing great pain and horror to the target. Tayuya is the only member of the Sound Four to ever demonstrate a sense of morality, seen when she questions Shikamaru about his practice of sacrificing teammates whenever their two groups meet. When in level 2 cursed seal form, her hair grows longer, her skin turns dark brown, and she grows five bone-like horns on her head. She almost defeats Shikamaru during the Sasuke Retrieval arc, but Temari comes to his aid and summons her familiar, Kamatari, who levels the entire section of the forest they're in with slicing whirlwinds, crushing Tayuya under a section of a tree.

103. Soifon (Bleach) Soifon is staunchly loyal, firm, and unbending in her beliefs. She is a hard worker and takes a strong moral stand ¡ª she particularly believes in following orders. She is generally reserved and not arrogant like her lieutenant. She will not hesitate in the slightest to strike down even her subordinates if they stand in her way. Soifon, like most female shinigami, is a member of the Shinigami Women's Association. In a V-Jump comic, she and Kiyone Kotetsu manage to pin J¨±shir¨ Ukitake to a post in order to snap pictures of him for the association's calendar. Underneath her standard shinigami captain uniform, Soifon wears the special forces leader's uniform, which has no sleeves or covering for the back. Her hair is worn short with two long braids covered in cloth. A running gag in Bleach, mainly in the omake chapters, is Soifon's obsession with Yoruichi Shihouin, the former leader of the special forces, which may border on romantic feeling. She also seems to like anything that resembles a black cat, which is Yoruichi's preferred form. This is also evidenced in the Shinigami Illustrated Picture Book (comedic skits at the end of an episode) segment in episode 97, where Rangiku Matsumoto gives her a "Yoruichi" (black cat) stuffed toy as a present from the human world. During the animation of the 7th ending theme she is holding her tenderly. Soifon also tries to give a heart-shaped box of chocolate to Yoruichi in one of the omake chapters that aired on Valentine's Day, but fails to when Yoruichi switches to her feline form. In a VJump omake chapter, the Gotei 13 were asked to give ideas to the Commander-General for a shinigami video game. Soifon suggested a game with herself and Yoruichi as the main characters. After seeing Kisuke Urahara's shop, she expresses dismay at Yoruichi's living conditions since leaving Soul Society and comments to Urahara that if anything happens to Yoruichi she will make him pay. Recently, the Shinigami Illustrated Picture Book for episode 117 shows Soifon fawning over pictures of Yoruichi - even one where she's eating like a glutton Soifon was born as Fon Shaolin into the Fon house, one of the lower noble houses affiliated with the Shihouin noble house. The Fon house traditionally serves the Shihouin house by joining the special forces. Any member who doesn't pass the test to get into the special forces is immediately exiled from the family. Because of this, Soifon has felt a lot of pressure to succeed since her youth. Though Soifon and her five older brothers all got into the special forces, her first two brothers died on their first missions, her next two brothers died on their second missions, and her last brother died on his third mission. Upon her joining the special forces, she adopted her grandmother's codename: Soifon. In the anime, she did not adopt the name voluntarily ¡ª a family member gave her the name. Soifon worked hard and was eventually promoted to become the head of the guard for the leader of the special forces at the time, Yoruichi Shihouin. Yoruichi took the young Soifon under her wing as her prot¨¦g¨¦, and they developed a close relationship. When Yoruichi eventually left Soul Society in disgrace to help her exiled friend Kisuke Urahara, she was stripped of all her titles. Soifon felt betrayed by Yoruichi's abandonment and the circumstances surrounding them. As a result, she trained herself in order to beat Yoruichi and take the titles she lost. Soifon was promoted to the captaincy roughly 100 years prior to the start of the Bleach storyline, shortly after Yoruichi's departure from Soul Society. During the time of Rukia's execution, Soifon once again meets up with Yoruichi when she grabs her while running off the execution grounds' cliff. Soifon challenges her in an effort to prove that she has improved. In reality, this is due to the conflicting emotions that Soifon has regarding Yoruichi's perceived abandonment of her. At first, she orders a group of special forces members to capture Yoruichi, but Yoruichi dispatches them easily with use of flash steps. Ultimately, Soifon attempts to use a technique that combines hand-to-hand combat with kid¨, thinking she invented it (yet had not named it). Yoruichi, however, already created the same technique, calling it flash cry (shunk¨?), and knows it much better than Soifon does. Despite clearly outclassing Soifon, Yoruichi doesn't cause her any harm. This prompts Soifon to cry and ask Yoruichi why she didn't take her along, in reference to Yoruichi's leaving Soul Society. She joins in the fight against Aizen towards the end of the arc, assisting Yoruichi in subduing him. Early in the Bount arc, Yoruichi and Soifon team up to locate the Bounts, ending up finding a female Bount attacking a human. They drive her off and Soifon returns to Soul Society, while Yoruichi stays to heal the woman who was attacked. Later Soifon comes to the Urahara Shop to share with Kisuke what she's learned. She comments on the poor state of the shop (much to Tessai's anger) and informs Urahara that if anything happens to Yoruichi because of him, she will make him pay. During the Bount attack on Soul Society, some of Soifon's special forces teams are among the many shinigami that fall under the control of the Bount Mabashi's doll, Ritz. One of Soifon's subordinates throws a dart-like bitto pod at Soifon which contains a "rotten" extracted soul. This substance acts as deadly poison and begins to kill Soifon. During a brief exchange, Soifon places one hornet crest on Mabashi's chest and then becomes too weak to fight. Mabashi gloats and then leaves the scene with intent to return when Soifon is dead. During his absence, Soifon uses Suzumebachi to counteract the poison. When Mabashi finds Soifon again, she appears to be near death. A squad of Soifon's subordinates arrive to protect her but fall under the control of Ritz. Mabashi then intends to use Ritz to control Soifon because the weaker shinigami he has been controlling are being subdued and knocked unconscious. When Ritz attempts to take control, Soifon quickly jumps up and stabs Mabashi in the place she had stabbed previously, resulting in his death and the freeing of the controlled shinigami. Soifon's zanpakut¨ is Suzumebachi (lit. Hornet). In its sealed form, it resembles a wakizashi with a yellow hilt reminiscent of a Chinese dao. Unlike most shinigami, she wears it on her back. Its initial release is triggered by the command "sting all enemies to death" (jinteki shakusetsu?, Viz: "spider enemy's killing strike"). In its initial release, Suzumebachi shrinks into a stinger that is worn on the middle finger of Soifon's right hand. When Soifon stabs someone with Suzumebachi, a butterfly symbol called a hornet's crest ·ä¼yÈA, h¨monka?) spreads from the point of contact, its abdomen acting as the center. If Soifon stabs the same location again, her opponent dies, regardless of how powerful they may be. The crests are maintained by Soifon's will and are impossible to remove unless she wills it; when Yoruichi was still running the special forces, Soifon could only maintain the crests for half an hour. In the anime's Bount arc, Soifon explains that Suzumebachi's ability is caused by a type of venom it secretes, which also acts as a handy counter-poison. The Bount arc also marks the first time she is seen killing someone with Suzumebachi. The Bount Mabashi manages to survive for slightly longer than two minutes when stabbed the second time, which can be attributed to Mabashi's enhanced power due to the large number of spirit particles in Soul Society. In contrast, Suzumebachi's second hit is instantly fatal to one of the "Dark Ones" in Bleach: Memories of Nobody.

102. Shampoo (Ramna 1/2) Soon after getting cursed at Jusenkyo, Ranma (as a girl) and Genma (as a panda) drop into a contest in a village of the Joketsuzoku (Å®‚Ü×å - "tribe of women heroes"; "Chinese Amazons" in English versions). Half-starved, they feed on the next available food-stuff - the feast that was to be the first prize for the contest - and are instantly challenged by Shampoo, the village champion. He swiftly defeats her, but this was a bad move. According to Chinese Amazon tribal laws, if a female Amazon is defeated by a female outsider, she must give the outsider the "Kiss of Death" (ËÀ¤Î½ÓÎÇ), hunt her down to the ends of the Earth, and kill her (as Ranma tells Akane, "and when they say 'to the ends of Earth', they mean it"). Ranma and Genma manage to elude her and settle down in Nerima, thinking that they've lost her. However, Shampoo eventually tracks female Ranma down and resumes her attempts at murder. She finds Ranma, this time a male, in the Tendo household¡ªwhere she managed to enter courtesy of Kasumi, who thought Genma had invited her, when she was actually stalking him¡ªand declares her intent to kill Akane for hiding female Ranma from her. Ranma stops her attack by kicking the ball off of her bonbori, which knocked her cold when it landed on her head, accidentally defeating her a second time. However, instead of receiving a "Kiss of Death," Ranma gets a kiss on the lips; it turns out that if a female Amazon is defeated by a male outsider, she has to marry him. She continues on the path of trying to marry male Ranma and kill female Ranma, until Ranma tricks her into thinking that the male side is a disguise for the female side. Heartbroken, Shampoo returns to China, where she undergoes re-training at the hands of her great-grandmother Cologne and finally receives a cat curse at Jusenkyo, which causes her father to become concerned. Realizing that Ranma had been cursed as well, she goes back to Japan with Cologne to try to marry Ranma once more, learning in the process that he is actually male. Unfortunately, this revelation came at a price: Ranma has been completely phobic about cats (ailurophobic) since childhood. Shampoo has managed to gain at least two strong rivals in the herbalists Pink and Link, a pair of twin sisters who live in Yaokaicun, a village near Joketsuzoku. The twins and Shampoo have held a grudge against each other since they were very little girls, and there¡¯s no sign of it ending anytime soon. In their latest attempt at getting back at Shampoo, Pink and Link declared to Joketsuzoku¡¯s local newspaper that Shampoo¡¯s husband (Ranma) was ugly and weak; Shampoo had previously lied to the newspaper, stating that she was already married and living with Ranma. Even if she has been chased by the Ghost Cat Maomolin a couple of times, Shampoo really has only one strong suitor, her childhood friend Mousse, whom she rejected when they were both three. Cologne has stated that this holds true by Amazon law, regardless if he manages to beat Ranma, but he remains stubborn despite her multiple rejections and frequent cruel and derisive treatment. In Shampoo's defense Mousse is very clingy, often trying to glomp her and will not take no for an answer. Then again she behaves exactly the same way towards Ranma, to an even more severe degree, and has been repeatedly shown as far more inconsiderate towards him than Mousse is to her. As is standard for the series, either behaviour is frequently used in a comical manner. Shampoo generally seems annoyed and contemptuous towards Mousse, but occasionally shows some concern when he drives himself too far. Late in the series, when her love has been turned to hate by a magic jewel, and Mousse decides to take advantage to approach her, she rejects him in the normal manner, which may hint that her feelings towards him contain elements of both derision and appreciation.

101. Tsunade (Naruto) As a child, Tsunade and her former teammates, Orochimaru and Jiraiya, were students of the Third Hokage. Because of the three's exemplary skills, they are known as the "Legendary Three Ninja" (\Densetsu no Sannin?) or simply the "Sannin". Because she is the granddaughter of the First Hokage and the grandniece of the Second Hokage, the word "Hime" ("Princess") is often attached to her name. In the English anime and manga, it is translated into "Lady Tsunade". Tsunade is well known for her large breasts, despite the fact that Jiraiya referred to her as "flat-chested Tsunade" during their childhood. One of Tsunade's noteworthy possessions was an amulet that belonged to her grandfather, which is said to be valuable enough to buy three mountains. On her brother, Nawaki's, twelfth birthday, Tsunade gave the amulet to him in the hopes that it would help him achieve his dream of becoming Hokage. The next day, Nawaki died as one of the many casualties of the war going on at the time, and the amulet was returned to Tsunade's possession. Sometime afterwards, Tsunade fell in love with a man named Dan, who also wanted to become Hokage. As a sign of her affection and in the hopes that it would help him achieve his goal, Tsunade gave him the amulet as well. Dan too would go on to die a bloody death during the course of the war, once again returning the amulet to her possession. With her spirit broken, Tsunade left Konoha with Dan's niece, Shizune, taking the latter in as her
