Michael Bay didn't completely f*** it up. The special effects were really good and there was a lot of action. The plot focused more on the human characters than the robots, which was fine since it made the scenes with the robots more important.
My main problem was that the last half hour was one big clusterf*** of an action scene and with all the shaky cam work and quick cuts, it really took me out of the movie as I tried to follow along to who was doing what.
Of course it wasn't all praise as even though most people out of the theater were saying good things, there were some Transformers purists as well just ripping the hell out of the movie for every little thing. One of them said that the only good thing was that they had the same voice for Optimus Prime as the cartoons but when I asked what his name was (Peter Cullen, by the way) he couldn't name him. f***in losers..........

I was a huge Transformers fan growing up, yet I have absolutely no interest in seeing this.

It opened in Australia today. So yeah lots of folks have seen it, and reviews are all good so far.
The IGN review said the only folks who wont like it are the G1 fans who go in without an open mind. Otherwise it is one of the best action films in years.

I want to like this movie, but every clip I've seen of it makes me think it's going to be one Jar Jar Binks moment after another.
I hope I'm wrong.

I want to see it. I was born into g1, but I accept it is different. It is still giant robots blowing stuff up, it will be enjoyable in some way or another.

Still not watching it, still not giving Michael Bay the money I earned having to deal with crazy coked-out-of-their-skulls customers that shop at the convenience store i work.

Agreed 100% I wish I could like it, but It just looks.......ugh! would it have been to much to ask to make Bumblebee a friggin VW??? Hell make him a new Bug, I don't care, and since when does Megatron have claws? I hope like hell a G.I. Joe movie never gets made because it will be even more of a travesty.

They couldn't make BB a VW, VW won't let ther vehicles be in movies about war. All the reviews for this movie so far have been good. Sorry to break it to you but G.I. Joe is in the works as well.

Oh man they have a 2 minute commercial for the game, and Cullen narrates it, it is amazing, I was all dorking out.
not only could Bumblebee not be a VW he had to be a GM vehicle, all the car modes had to be, it was in the contract. Don't blame Bay for that, I hear he tried in early preproduction, but Hasbro has known for years they can't use VW machines anymore, just like they have problems due to law with Megatron being a gun, unless it is very nerf looking(think the new Classics like Megatron).
