I never cared for it really, haven't seen the new version, but why doesn't anyone learn and realize when they're making a sub par product? Why'd a new company want it if they were gonna change something that was working??

I thought the new version was okay. Definitely better animation, but it's just not the same.

Besides this being one of the few series I recorded every new episode I could, my fondest memories of the original series was the Super Bowl half time episodes they did. Because the compilations in Itunes kinda suck and could have so much more I actually spent yesterday and today dubbing every episode I have on tape. I forgot how great it used to be. I loved the sci-fi special when Keith Flynt nails celene dion with a chairshot from behind as shes singing the national anthem. I never got to see this new version but it shounds like i'm not missing out on much.

Meh. You've seen one episode, from either series, you've seen em all. ..Are you telling me that Trent Reznor having "nine inch nails" and Puff Daddy swelling up like a puffer fish is funny? ..NU. >=(

It's not just Deathmatch but MTV as a whole that's gone down the drain in my opinion. It's mostly R 'n B and reality shows now. They might as well drop the M from the name.
At the risk of sounding like an oldtimer here, back in my day they played decent music now and then even in prime time and paid attention to less mainstream genres in shows like 12O minutes and Headbangers Ball (even though in Europe we had to cope with the obnoxious and clueless Vanessa Warwick for that one).
Old MTV = Yay Recent MTV = Nay

You know why the new CELEBRITY DEATHMATCH sucked?
The original CD was fun. Not great, but worth watching. Plus, most of the match-ups made sense. (But why not Marx Brothers vs STooges instead of them seperated? Boo!)
The new CD sucks because its effectively a promo-box for MTV's programming. Notice the JACKASS boys, that 30-year old "kid" comedian Andy Mcwhatever, etc. That got boring quickly.
Plus, while the new CD claims to be a continuation of the original CD, rematches were made thats techincally impossible, like Pacino/DeNiro (that already happened, and unless I'm wrong, DeNiro won) and you know what else?
One charm of the original CD I loved was the concept that, in its universe, its this beloved institution this side of Wrestling where people pack the stands every week to see celebrities slug it out. Like from the 50s to 70s (Namath/OJ!) to 2000s.....

It's not the same....i.e. Howard Stern farting in Kathy Lee Griffin's face to finish her off. Now and days, the deaths are not as unique.

I LOVED the old Celebrity Deathmatch.
The new CD is a bastardized version of something I loved. It's like seeing an old friend that you hadn't seen in 5 years, but he comes back as a cokehead junkie. Not good times.

I thought the new version was okay. Definitely better animation, but it's just not the same. Disagree about the animation. Watching an old Celebrity deathmatch the animations were just a lot more fluid than in the new series. Speaking of, only interesting fight of the new series that I saw was Bam Margera vs. Don Vito.

Damned kids and their damned fancy new sucky ass Deathmatches and the wrong guys doing Nick and Johnny's voices! Why, in MY day Deathmatch had Mills Lane and Steve Austin, and we would wait up LATE to watch it and record it on *gasp* VHS! ...damned kids and their MTV2. Yep pretty much What the guy who's not Joker said. As well as Joker.

Going through the recent episode list (I haven't watched anything recent at all), I can sum up the current season in one fight.
Ashlee Simpson vs. Her Old Nose.
Thank you, good night.

Death Bowl? I remembered Death Bowl for one reason. Andre Agassi defeating Tiger Woods. Flawless Victory. There were two of them actually. The first one was kindof the original pilot that had Marilyn Manson(sp?) vs. Charles Manson, Rupal vs. Pam Anderson, and Hanson vs. The Spice Girls, which ended when Marilyn cut off the lights and killed them all. The second one I dont remember too well, but know it ended with "Tyson vs. Holyfield III"

The first was the pilot with Marilyn Manson vs. Charles Manson, the second was the one with Tyson vs. Holyfield, and the third had Woods/Agassi but also had Mark McGwire vs. Sammy Sosa.
