Don't get the Director's Cut, get if possible the theatrical edit.
And you say, why RRA?
Well, because lets just say Walter Hill was determined to make what already was visually and aesthetically a comic book movie into LITERALLY a comic book movie, and its excessive.
Its like you have chocolate ice cream, then some idiot dumps alot of chocolate syrup all over it. The comic book panels and such aren't needed one bit.

There are ACTUAL comic panels on the Directors version?
Man. That bites.
Looks like I'll be picking up the cheap, no frills DVD version of it then. That should be the theatrical cut.

I bought the Directors cut version and when the 1st panel came up I was like 'What the hell is this'. They're really unnecessary and the movie is actually better off without them. Definitely stick with the theatrical cut.

While I don't think the comic panels added anything to the movie, I definatly don't think they really took anything away either. They were unnessacary, but had little effect on the quality of the movie either way in my opinion.

In the original theatrical edit, there is that great scene when Swan & Ajax flee the cops from the subway station, only to come across the Furies....silent, menacing, and swinging their bats like they're ready to hit some home runs with some Warriors' skulls. That's badass. Not "Holy S***! Its the Furies!" or whatever it was. Plus........."In the Future...." People in the future still listen to disco tunes and HEAVEN CAN WAIT is still in theatres?
