thanks rra. really great stuff. i've always been a fan of stone cold crazy, but to be honest... i never knew queen did it originally! Why thank you. Glad I could help. But I'll honest with you. As many good tunes as Queen put up from their creation to their end, they also produced alot fo stinkers. Hell, TWICE in the 1980s they had albums that save for a single tune, were really really worthless*. I would also suggest "Death on Two Legs," from the A NIGHT AT THE OPERA album. A great hard rocker written as a pisser on their bastard manager. *=HOT SPACE and THE MIRACLE, to be precise. "Under Pressure" and "Scandal" being the saving graces of those wrecks.

At first, with your post, I was going to hammer you down when you wrote of how Queen was overrated, blah blah.....but then you wrote of how you only knew of the #1 hits that's played over and over on radio... And I can totally relate to that. I mean, take Pink Floyd. The radio stations only play DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, THE WALL, or WISH YOU WERE HERE....and even then, its only some tunes from each. Yet what radio doesn't play is awesomness of Floyd beyond, like the Syd Barrett masterpiece THE PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN, or the pretty cool ANIMALS, or their pre-DSTOM work, or hell, even THE FINAL CUT*. Hell, look at The Clash, my 3rd UK rock act I'm heavily devoted to. According to radio, "Rock the Casbah" and "Should I Stay or Should I Go" are the only tunes on their COMBAT ROCK album....in spite of "Straight to Hell." *=Its uneven, but its got some good tunes on it. Can't say the same for the Water-less Floyd albums.

Here's kind of a rare one. I don't think many of you will have heard this one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=irp8CNj9qBI&mode=related&search=Up at school, my roommate had a clock radio you could put a CD in, so that you could set the alarm and the CD would play. Guess what song woke us up every morning 1st semester? (2nd semester was "Enter Sandman".)

Man, i've talked to alot of people who think of Pink Floyd the same way i see Queen and for the same reasons. not that the songs that they paly on the radio are bad or anything, but for the fact that they are so played out. so i let em listen to The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, and it really helps them to see what pink floyd could do, ya know? and the clash, holy god dont get me started... man, i hated casbah and should i stay or should i go. but when i first heard songs like London's Burning... i was instantly i love.

oh yes. Somebody Got Murdered is one of my favorite clash songs by far! Yeah, that and "The Street Parade" totally kick ass for the Lord. Hell, I'm shocked that neither were huge chart hits. Really, they're the sort of mesmerizing beats that people get hooked to, but alas they weren't. But that album had alot of good stuff. Besides those two there was "The Magnificent Seven," "Hitsville U.K.,"* their cover of "Police on My Back," "Ivan Meets G.I. Joe," "Charlie Don't Surf," etc. *=You have an act that had established itself as "THE" punk act in UK, and after LONDON CALLING sold well in America, and then they have the balls to try to do a melody tune....and make it work.

Since the subject came up, the neo-rockabilly song "The Leader" is another good one from Sandanista.

Maybe not all of it really works, but hell it doesn't deserve its cold shoulder. Now CUT THE CRAP? That deserves it. Yikes.

Yeah, aside from maybe "This Is England" there's really nothing memorable on Cut the Crap.

Yeah, aside from maybe "This Is England" there's really nothing memorable on Cut the Crap. And we're not the only ones. When you have that good CLASH documentary years back not even mention CUT THE CRAP, and the "Essential Clash" carrying only one tune....only ONE!.....from their last album....it really does suck. And at that, "This is England" is a mess. Maybe it was a good song before Rhodes took a crap on it, but as it stands, it sucks...and to think folks, its the best song of the album. Now that's bad.

That's kinda true. To be honest, even though it's a song I remember liking, I actually can't even think of how it goes right now.

That's hilarious. It reminds me of when one of the former US presidents (I think it was George Bush Sr.) used Springsteen's "Born in the USA" as his campaign song.

Onto Queen... Without them, I probably would have never picked up a guitar again. Everyone in that band was at the epitome of rock And their first 3 CD's are filled with their most underrated material
Modern Times Rock And Roll, My Fairy King, Great King Rat, Ogre Battle, March Of The Black Queen, Seven Seas Of Rhye, See What A Fool I've Been, Brighton Rock, Flick Of The Wrist, In The Lap Of The Gods, Misfire, In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited
And thats only a list of what I feel are their most underrated work from before Bohemian Rhapsody

That whole era of Queen is incredibly underrated. BTW, for my dear Blood Splattered Satisfaction, another kickass Queen tune: Tie Your Mother Down www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTrNXcurSyE&mode=related&search=
