I've been watching the recent re-showing of Goosebumps on Cartoon Network recently. My kid brother started watching it is why. It brought back alot of memories of when I used to read the stories as a kid. Sure it's no "are you afraid of the dark?" but I really liked reading the books.
My favorite was "Night of the Living Dummy" just because it was so well written and terrifying for a kids book. RL Stine didn't even come close to that masterpiece of a kids horror book since.
Anyone else read any of the books or watched the shows?

I still remember being so bummed out by the ending to that "Camp Nightmare" or whatever one. Ugh, it was such a cheap cop-out. I have fond memories of one about a haunted/evil theme park, though.

My favourite book was probably Say Cheese And Die! I'm sure it was the first one I read. An evil foreshadowing camera?! I thought that was awesome!

As for the books following the same formula, nearly every chapter would end with the main character's hand getting caught/grabbed by something. And at the start of the next chapter it turns out to be their bratty Sister/brother/cousin/friend "in a fit of laughter"

Fun show, but totally lame and I refuse to watch it again so my childhood memories aren't ruined.
As a side note, Fear Street was a kickass book series.

I was addicted to that series, but about halfway through, it was so obvious R.L. Stine was running out of ideas. "The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena"? "The Blob that ate Everyone"? plus the whole sequelitis of the best two books (Night of the Living Dummy, Monster Blood) was kinda irritating.

Yeah I think there'a couple of the books sitting in the folks attic. One was about a haunted sponge or something or other.

I used to love reading those.
My favorite was one I forgot the title of, but it was about the kid who fights a supervillan from a comic book who comes to life, and in the end, he bleeds ink.

Attack of the Mutant. Not sure which one was my favorite...I certainly liked the Night of the Living Dummy series.

Those Goosebumps books were always incredibly dumb and I HATED them as a kid. I remember being into Sherlock Holmes and weird ass conspiracy theory-esqe books.
