Looking around here more and more, I see alot of places where people have been told to 'stop moaning' about their views, even if their views aren't even that negative towards something. Yeah, of course there are people who take things seriously, but even if someone says 'I don't like this' and gives a good explaination, we get the usual 'OMG Uz Negativz! DOnt WaTch!'. It's not just wrestling either, it's anything. TV, Video Games, Movies, Sports, everything. I can't help but feel it's sort of devaluing the point of the net. Different expression.
Let's take this place for example. Without it, where would we go to talk about Wrestling? Our local bar/pub? Our family? Our friends? The media has such a latch on Pro Wrestling being this fake thing which rednecks love, that barely anyone would talk about it. It's just not cool. This place is the only place we could go without being laughed at. Maybe some of you have different situations, which is great, but that's just how I see it.
And so many things are looked down apon when it comes to the internet. Blogging, Vlogging (Thank Chris Crocker for that), MySpace (and soon maybe Facebook). The only thing I see that people haven't been snooty about is Podcasts. Almost everyone has one (and I will be soon ;D)
I'm not trying to put the internet on this big pedestal that deserves respect, I'm geniunly asking the question 'What is the point?'. It just seems like anything that happens on the net is seen as sad, stupid or emo-like. It just seems rather pety and silly to me considering that we all use the internet for different things and we should just embrace that.
Sorry, I just had to vent that out there. More to do with the fact that I'm doing Online Journalism recently, and it just seems that the internet has so much potential and alot of people just diss it all the time. Flame if you must...I have WINGS OF STEEL!
