What is your favorite fighting game? Mine is probably Street Fighter.

Street Fighter wins in playability, but I'm still voting for Mortal Kombat. I love both series a lot anyway...
...at least the 2D installments. I pretty much hate all 3D fighting games.

Rival Schools. I don't expect anyoen to know the game, but it is pure fun. I've heard of that one, never played it though. Real simple, arcade-y gameplay, with simple combos, and timing is key to making sure you hit your move, and the opponent doesn't.

Tekken, every version would practise until we had all of Kings moves sorted. You gotta understand it's a wrestling thing and not the running around wearing a Tony the Tiger costume that did it for me

Rival Schools. I don't expect anyoen to know the game, but it is pure fun. That game is real fun, your right. However, I think games have moved on, in believability, realism and ease to play since the 2D era. Soul Calibur wins it by a country mile for me.

It's difficult to compare 2D and 3D fighters in terms of gameplay. That being said, Street Fighter is my favorite 2D fighting series since it's the one I grew up on. I give Soul Calibur the nod for 3D fighters since the genre pretty much peaked with the original game.

Close call between Tekken and Mortal Kombat. I'll go with Tekken because I've played it for longer and MK loses some points for having some crappy stuff here and there. But MK2 is better than any Tekken game except 5 which it's equal to IMO.

Soul Calibur by far. Guilty gear is pretty rad though.

Can't stand fighting games... they're an endless source of rage and punching-the-wall moments Only played SF2 (arcade) and Eternal Champions (Genesis). I'll leave the thread now

I'm a mortal kombat guy. I just love the fact that you can rip a guys heart out and hold it up like some sort of trophy.

Mortal Kombat. I went anti-establishment to that Street Fighter nonsense, which I eternally hate because I spent too much time playing it and failed my mid-term exams in Year 4.

Street Fighter just over Mortal Kombat. Also have to give a shout to Fatal Fury and Samurai Shodown.
Anyone else remember Time Killers? Where you control fighters from different points in time, and can cut off opponents limbs, and if you button mash just right, get an instant victory with a decapitation.
