I personally find Kurbirk's Shining to be MUCH better then King's book.
King, like usual, leaves very little to the imagination in his book and just gets down-right silly towards the end.

Yep, he did. If I recall correctly he was especially irked at the change from a croquet mallet to an axe as well as the topiary scenes. I can understand the croquet mallet thing, as the fact that it was THIS particular object had a special signification in the book. And it' s more original than an axe ( and IMO more likely to be found in aleisure place than an axe, even if the place is in a mountain ).

Oh, and if you're fans of King.... or of horror.... do not read 'Storm of the Century'. It seems like a really good book until the 'twist'. The 'twist' made me wish that ..... well, nevermind.

Anybody remember the part where the wife is running from Jack and she sees the guy in the bear suit is giving head to the guy on the bed? Funniest part of the whole damn movie. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmOoekbK6YI

Funniest part of the whole damn movie. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmOoekbK6YIWhen I was like 16, that scene disturbed the hell out of me. I mentioned it to a friend, who despite having watched the movie a few days prior (it was his copy), couldn't remember it. I'm pretty sure half the viewing audience blocks the scene out.

Probably because it happens so fast and so unexpectedly, and they never explain the scene afterwards. Which is why it's so damn funny in the first place.

I know I had certainly blocked it out! Just what the hell was that supposed to be about? And did anyone else notice how wide Wendy's eyes were opened? I thought her eyeballs were about to fall out of their sockets!

I've never read the book, but I'm willing to bet Stanley Kubrick added that scene just to f*** with people.
He's weird.

And there' s no way he could actually blow the guy while keeping this mask on.
