I picked it up used today. So far I'm really liking it considering its a console shooter. Its really the most graphically beautiful game I've ever seen, and I'm playing it on a standard TV. I know this game is kind of old news now, but I had to share.

It amazes me how people can play FPS on consoles...... And why is that? We've been playing FPS games on consoles since DOOM came out on the SNES and Genesis. The thing is, the game has to be built from the ground up for a console to be a truly good console FPS. A port of a PC FPS usually is good enough, but they usually get scored less than console made FPS titles. That, and most console FPS games that are PC ports are usually graphically inferior.

The PC is FAR slower for me because of the same reason PC shooters are praised...the mouse. The mouse can only go so far before you have to move it again. Cords put restrictions on movement. Hell even the Wii is faster at FPS games than the PC.

It amazes me how people can play FPS on consoles...... The FPS's I've played on the 360 have been suprisingly easy to use. The best around since Goldeneye even.

Goldeneye was all memory it didnt matter that analog joystick sucks (n64 actually wasnt that bad, but still not as accurate as mouse). Enemies always were in the same place and followed all the same pathings.

I play video games to have fun not have a pissing contest over which system or PC is the best.

Bioshock is great.
I prefer shooters on console too. Sitting comfortably on a couch across the room > Hunched over inches away from the screen.

I live finding those meth heads in waster and elcetrocuting them. Makes me feel like a big man.

I loved that game, I played it four times, got all the achievements, and traded it back into EB for full credit, all in under a month. The only thing I hated about the game was that as far as the endings were concerned, there were only really 2.5 endings. Saving them all gets one ending, but if you harvest even one of the girls, you get the German doctor all angry, then if you kill a couple more, you get the sad ending. Same exact cutscene, barely different voiceover. Meh. But everything else in the game rocked though.
As far as the powers go though, I found that using the other powers like bee hand, hypnotize Big Daddy, enrage, etc. really didn't do much for me, so I stuck with the basic three (fire, electricity and telekenisis). You can really save on precious Adam that way, especially if you just harvest the girls (it gets you way more Adam in the long run).

Awesome game, and that comes from a FPS-hater. Biochock has that "special" feeling that Blood had. Maybe it's the fact you're shooting to sub-humans, maybe it's the creepy-yet-not-apocalyptic scenario... Just a great game to play. The electroshock+arrow to the head combo is effective and fun. For sheer fun, freeze+wrench

You will LOVE Bioshock. I know I did. I played it solidly for ages, seeking out every diary entry and playing with all the plasmids and tonics. When you get the chance try creating a trap with the cyclone plasmid and proximity mines on the ceiling, it providies much entertaining.
Its just my favourite FPS ever, it really is. The setting is gorgeous, the enemies fascinating as well as terrifying, the combat is just beautiful. By the story and narrative are so far beyond what you normally get in FPS shooters its unreal. If you don't already know the story don't let anyone, anywhere ruin the story for you. Rip out their tongue and stab out their eyes with it if they try and tell you. Its the best part of the game and to have it ruined ruins a the main point of the game.
Like I say its my favourite FPS. I'll still put Deus Ex, Oblivion and TIE Fighter above it but its a VERY close race. Enjoy. And now I've gotten myself hyped up, thing its time to boot it up again. Huzzah!
