i loved both the novel and the movie. i would have enjoyed the movie much more if it ended the way the novel did. it is still one of my favorite movies ever.

One thing I did like that the movie did that the novel didn't is it took a lot more to put V down in the flick. In the book it was pretty anticlimactic him getting iced by two bullets.

I guess I prefer the graphic novel in this case as well. V's power did not reside in badass knife throwing or kung-fu, it was the idea. Sure you could shoot the man down but someone else would come and take his place, making him seem immortal. V himself never came across to me as superhuman.

I can see that, and on some level I agree with you, BUT it does make for more exciting cinema to see the whole battle. So I agree with what they did there.

That's true, no need to make him Batman there.

I actually remember reccomending it to ya Biafra. Yeah..something about it just speaks to me almost on a personal level. Most of the people who know me even a little connect me with it...and when i was talking about movies with a newer friend I mentioned loving "V for Vendetta" and she was like..."well, duh...of course you would."

Personally, I love both. I was the only one in my family to like it, and I own the DVD much to their disgust. I would've preferred the 'Evie becomes V' ending to the movie's actual one, but somehow, I didn't mind. I just liked it anyway. Both the graphic novel and the movie are highly enjoyable for me.
And PFFFFT Natalie Portman for managing being gorgeous even with her hair shaved off. >>

Read the book? If not, ya should. No, i haven't; one of the main things as far as entertainment goes I have to correct. I'm also a mob movie/Pacino fanatic who hasn't seen Heat or Carlito's Way...

Saw this movie originally in Lit Thru Film back last year in school. Absolutely loved it. Hugo Weaving's masterpiece of a performance plus the message the film delivers makes it all the more believeable. I got the two-disc version from Buy.com for virtually free (it was $8 and two bucks for shipping= 10 bucks, and then minus 10 for first-time Google Checkout user= ;D)

I really enjoyed the film. I'm actually shocked that people of the IWC didn't like this movie. This movie has "Love me IWC" all over it.

No, instead of John Hurt Stephen Richards from Right to Censor would have been Dictator.

Even better.
The ads coulda had the names of the stars coming onscreen.... Weaving.... Portman... Richards..
"oh Denise Richards is in this?"
"Nope."
"Is it Kramer then?"
"No Stevie"
"Who?"
"You'll see"

I enjoyed the film, and my friends who haven't read the Alan Moore book also thought it was well put together and had some decent talking points in it. I give it 4 stars out of 5.
Certainly worth seeing if your staying in.
