Another Brando film should be on there and that is Apocalypse Now. I think they killed a live animal in that movie. My mom and dad saw it theaters when they were younger. My dad loved it and my mom was grossed out. Glad Last Tango in Paris is in there. This is the film where Marlon Brando's character tells a woman to stick her fingers up his ass. Anal butter. They totally slaughtered that cow in the end. "O Brother Where Art Thou?" got in trouble for shooting/running over computerized cows, so there's no way they could do the end of Apocalypse Now these days.

15 TRIUMPH OF THE WILL DIRECTED BY LENI RIEFENSTAHL (1935) THE PLOT Riefenstahl's notorious documentary of the 1934 Nazi rally at Nuremberg elevates propaganda to seductive Wagnerian grandeur. THE CONTROVERSY While intellectuals still ponder the ethics of admiring so malevolent a masterpiece... Then the intellectuals are just as bad as the fundies. Fact is Leni Riefenstahl was a genius, who made a genius film. She may have been a nazi, and the movie was made about one of the most despicable men in human history, but that doesn't change the fact she was a genius. Can't we admire the work?

Go to Japan? That's the only way I know of. You know what I don't get about Disney? They've blacklisted the movie in America, but its still available for sale in Europe and rest of the world. That's just messed up. And that's why I refuse to buy any Disney DVD's.

And I totally agree with you there. A pity that we couldn't have gotten more great works from her, of course that probably would have only happened if the Nazis had won the war. Off topic, but Jodie Foster had a Riefenstahl biopic as a pet project of hers for years.

Speaking of controversial Disney stuff, anyone ever seen a short called "Mickey's Melodrammer"? It's an early Disney black-and-white short where Mickey and others put on a live theatrical presentation of the infamous book-turned-melodrama "Uncle Tom's Cabin." They even go so far as to have a few of the animated characters put on "blackface" make-up. I know it's on a Disney DVD somewhere. I think it has something like "The Disney Vault" in the title.

About "Cannibal Holocaust," if the Italian government put the director in jail because they thought the actors were actually eaten, then that must be some good filmmaking...or, there were some stupid people working for the Italian government back then. Today too!

And Freaks disturbs me everytime I see it. One of us, One of us, One of us. I'm surprised Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma isn't on the list. I have never seen the film myself but from I hear it seems very controversial. I need to check out some Pier Paolo Pasolini films or is it worth it? Hope you liike poop!

I haven't seen a lot of those, but it seems like an alright list. Kids was a bad ass movie.
Judging by the shit elder's to me have said, I'd have made room for "The Excorcist", it bores me to f***ing death but for the time that was some truly freaky shit!

Uh...White Dog isn't on there? That movie was so controversial BEFORE it hit theaters that Paramount canceled it's North American release all together (although it wound up being a Song of the South-style deal where the movie played all over the rest of the world - and White Dog was praised in those countries as a masterpiece, which it is).

Hooray for having seen every single film on the list!
I'd include the Evil Dead on that list, but it's a US list, and therefore can't focus on the controversy that video nasties caused over here, but even aged 4-5, I knew what the Evil Dead was.

I'm surprised that 'Month Python's Life Of Brian' was not on this list considering the amount of controversy it cause back in the day.

The DaVinci Code gets on there, but I Spit On Your Grave doesn't? Jed Shaffer ~Not that that's a good movie because ... well ... if you've seen it, you know.

Jed Shaffer ~Quality debate aside, it still shoulda been on the list.
