For what it's worth, dancin Petey there I thought was hilarious and fit in with his character. The nightclub scene where he pretty much became the Mask- not so much.

I've listed my gripes with the movie before, but here we go again: The fact that Sandman killed Uncle Ben; that takes away the very reason Pete became Spider-Man in the first place. Whoever had that idea should have their head banged against a brick wall. Sandman was a pretty superfluous character & existed only to show off CGI FX. They sort of blew the load on the story with Harry in the first 15 mins. That could've been a whole movie in itself. The story with Venom could also have been a whole movie in itself. It seemed a bit... rushed, I guess. Topher Grace was great as Eddie & Venom, though. But he never referred to himself in the plural. Venom wasn't even NAMED at any point during the movie! What the hell?! Venom somehow knew about the fact that Sandman's daughter was dying... HOW? It's not like Peter knew, so the symbiote didn't pick that info up from him... Venom just... knew? As Harry lies dying at the end, Pete asks "Are you okay?" Harry replies "I've been better." ... ... Yeah, mate. That's like saying, "I've got two f***ing big gaping holes in my chest, but I'm gonna lie here & crack-wise for a wee bit before I die!"

I laughed at first, bought into what Raimi was selling. Then the nightclub scene hit and all I could do was shake my head. On the second watch (I went the second time with my young cousin. Yes, that's my cover...not that I wanted to ogle James Franco in his boxers again. Yes, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. ), I got more irritated at the dance scene because I think I just expected more from Raimi. He's the God of the appropriately placed comedy kitsch...but somehow, this just fell flat. That being said, Bruce Campbell was wonderful. Anything that man does is gold.

That's truth. I can't hate a BC role, no matter how horrible it is.

How about the fact that Venom was never actually called "Venom" once in the entire film?
Lame.

Totally crammed too much into this movie. It could have easily been three movies by itself: The first with the Harry thing, the second with Sandman, and the third with Venom.

Plus there's the fact that Harry cooks for her and wrote a play for her. What does Pete do? Kiss some blonde and hit MJ in the face, yet she still chooses him? LOGIC?!! I actually smiled a little on the inside when Peter bitch slapped her.

I actually smiled a little on the inside when Peter bitch slapped her. I was hoping she would get up and kwang him on the head with a nearby barstool, but yeah, since they castrated her character too, all she did was play victim a la Lois Lane. Besides, any real woman would have left his punk ass and gone with the recently reformed superhunk millionaire who wrote plays for her and baked her omlettes while doing the twist. Yeah, MJ's motivations didn't make much sense either.

A-frakking-greed. James Franco was amazing in the film. Completely overshadowed whatever silliness Raimi decided to do with Parker (e.g., his weird aggressive jazz dancing, piano playing mating performance that ended with him trying to be Caveman Og by punching out his woman and dragging her off to his cave. Pshooo.). Why is everyone pointing at the musical scenes but not everything else? What about the whole botched Eddie Brock angle? What about several possible storylines for a trilogy jammed into one picture? What about the fact that the "storylines" are more scenes and characters being wasted and NOT doing anything? What about that whole clusterf---k with James Franco trying to break up Maguire and Dunst? Hell, what about the BLOWN OPPORTUNITY with the Sandman? I pretty much agree. Sandman was wasted. They were developing him great, and then "oops, lets shoe horn Venom in here sideways and forget Flint is even in the film." I loved his acting, but it seemed like he was in a movie the rest of them weren't in, a more serious film. That is why he felt wrong. They should have left Venom out, focused on Harry and Sandman. With the black suit as a back up story and how he finally beats Sandman. Leave Venom for a sequel if you have to use him. It did just feel like a handful of movies shoved together, and it never really gelled. None were bad, they just didn't feel cohesive. Raimi is a better director than this and he has proven it. Me smells studio meddling.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious Raimi never wanted to use Venom in the first place, which is why it feels so crammed in. I wish the execs or whoever woulda held off, let Raimi finish his stint, have the black costume lead into Venom in the fourth movie with whoever takes over the reins.
Both movies woulda benefitted.

I thought it was good, weakest in the series but still good.
Compared to ROTSS & Ghost Rider (Comic movies of 2007) it's a masterpiece
