Christmas is quickly approaching, and that means that Santa is loading up his slegh and getting ready to leave the North Pole.
I'm sure that a lot of people may be of the opinion that to them Christmas isn't that big a deal anymore. Sure you might get into the season, but it doesn't hold the magic it did when you were small. But remember as a kid, the excitement when you'd go to bed on Christmas Eve? Waking your mom and dad up at about 5am to see what Santa had left under the tree.
So when did it happen for you? When did you find out that Santa wasn't real? Did your parents tell you, or did you find out from some kid from school? How'd it make you feel? Or maybe you were one of those kids who never believed?
Me I stopped believing when I was about 9 or 10. But no-one ever told me.
Not till I was about 12. My mom asked me what I wanted for Xmas and then cautiously added "You know there's no Santa right?". I laughed and reassured her that, yes....I knew.

Bout when I was 6 or 7.
That was when during our department store trips, my parents started giving me money to go buy presents on a list for specific family members for when we went to the family exchange on Christmas Eve.
No one explained anything to me, kinda just realized it.

Some kid in my religion class out of all places blurted it out when I was 8 or 9.
Parents told me when I was 10 or 11. Wasn't that shocked.

To be honest, I don't remember when I found out Santa ain't real.
I just remember being three years old, and constantly "reminding" my aunts and uncles of the fact during Yuletide.
I think we ought to stop telling kids that Santa isn't real and just come clean.
"Timmy...it's not that Santa isn't real..."
"Really, mom?! Where is he?"
"...it's more that he's dead."

Also, for the day I stopped believing in him, I guess I just realized through time that Santa couldn' t exist, that it couldn' t happen... but I also realized that my family must really LOVE me for giving me all these presents year after year !

I'd guess about 10 or 11. I'm pretty sure I was in P7 when I was told by my Mum... But it was the movie Gremlins that really revealed the truth to me.

It was kinda like wrestling. People telling me for years that it/he was fake and then gradually I just went "yeah...that makes sense" and accepted it...

When I realised Santa's handwriting on the gift tags was the same handwriting as my mums.

It just kinda happened one day, I played along for a couple more years to make my mum happy. Then I started getting presents from my pets instead.

Well he kinda is real in a way. He doesn't crawl down chimneys and such and eat your cookies, but he is one of the few characters that is so strongly talked about, that in a sense he is. And there certainly a guy long ago that answered to the name "St. Nick".
Right or wrong, this is what keeps me young and not a complete bastard in my life.
