Anyone else read Nova? I'd say that's been Marvel's best book since it started its monthly run.

I miss reading comics. I used to be a big fan of Marvel, but I've been constantly broke for over a year now, and combining that with all of the massive story-arcs means I don't have the cash to keep up with things. Hopefully once I get another job or two, I'll be able to get back into reading them again.

OK, good. I was about to start crying hysterically for a second. Really great stuff going on. Trust me, I would never turn my back on the Lantern. He's the character, along with Gambit from X-Men, that got me into comics. Thatsa mah boy. The only comic I've stopped picking up so far is, devastatingly, Catwoman. Ever since they brought her back in One Year Later with a kid, the writing has bit. I'm hoping that it will pick up in the New Year.

When you decided to talk about comics, I thought you would have mentioned the best comic out BY FAR.
Fables; the story is epic, the art is good, and the cover art is amazing.
I first found out about this series by a friend five months ago, and read every issue in a very quick amount of time.
Now coming in as the second best series is, Jack of Fables.
Yeah it's a cross over, but it has a very differnt intent. It offers humor that can make you laugh every page, while still keeping you in the universe and keeping the overall story moving.

Quoted for Insane levels of Truth. I love Fables but I prefer to collect it in trade format. IMHO, it doesn't work so well in singles.

Comics? Comics are for kids, I'm all man lady! That said, I haven't really followed anything since wrapping up World War Hulk -- which though the JRJR art was great as usual, I was pretty nonplussed by the story. I picked up a couple of the GL issues, but it was squah in the middle of the story, so I'll wait for trade to get the rest- though it does look really good. For the most part over the last few months, I've been mainly relying on Wizard and my subscription therein to keep me in the know about what's going on. The Big Two are so mired in the whole universal crises, I'm pretty burned out on 'em. 'Tween that and the terribleness that's coming Spidey's way, I've taken a break from superhero books for a bit. Vertigo and Dark Horse are keepin' me sassified with Fables and Goon though.

A thousand zillion times yet. Best book on the stands, bar none. Plus it's a self contained story. Solid entertainment for your funnybook dollar-- but then I've been pimping Fables for the better part of two years. Though as was mentioned I primarily get my fix via TPB.

I just seem to follow villian storylines more than the actual heroes.
I see a comic with juggernaut or Joker featured and that makes me more inclined to buy it.
So with that said I need to know what the following are up to next or keen to find out what's happened to them ...
The Joker - Just in general. Juggernaut - He's gone back to his bad old self, what's next?? Mysterio - Who is he working for (I suspect Mephisto)? As Klum and Berkhart are either dead or just pathetic. Carnage - Sentry killed him ... or did he?? Mr. Sinister - As usual he seems to be having some x-men trouble, with the Messiah storyline Shuma-Gorath - Can they please have him actually do something apart form invade our dimension only for Dr Strange (With friends) to beat him.

I JUST FINALLY got the fourth volume of the 52 trade yesterday. was well worth the wait.
and yeah, Marvel and DC both need to stop with the universal crisis shit. it gets old after a while. that said, I am following Countdown and the tie-in stuff. I just hope that Morrison writes a good Final Crisis and not something that's out there and f***ed up for the sake of being f***ed up.
other than that, JSA and Green Lantern are awesome (seriously, Geoff Johns is without a question the best writer out there) and I've also been keeping up with The Authority, should be getting the whole first volume in trade at Christmas.

I actually collected every issue of 52, and I loved every bit of it. It was really a good series. That said, I agree with you, I'm sick to death of the ongoing universal crossover crises. I seriously don't know who's worse about it. Marvel seems to have 10-12 going on at the same time, while DC just has one big one centered in a weekly series that goes on for a full year (Countdown). But that's where they get most of their money, I suppose. So I guess it's not gonna stop anytime soon. Meantime, I'll just stick with the handful of series I collect. Plus any Freddy/Jason/Leatherface issues that come from Wildstorm! ;D

I buy way too damned many comics. Mostly Marvel with a smattering of Indie and DC(though mostly WIldstom/Vertigo). I think I get 30+ titles right now.
I am not a Wolvie fan, but Brian K Vaughan(Runaways, Y the Lastman, Lost), and Eduardo Risso(100 Bullets) are doing a 3 issue mini called Logan, which I am all over.
Tony Harris is doing art ofr a SPider-man mini called "With Great Power", again all over that.

Aside from the fact that Nova's become one of the most powerful, bad-ass heroes in Marvel in the last year or so, the last two issues featured a Soviet space dog with mental powers to rival Emma Frost. So yeah, it's really good.

Joker fans, read Salvation Run, it is a 7 issue mini that is on issue 2 and has been a freaking blast. Checkmate rounded up the bad guys and sent them to an alien world. It was supposed to be a place to start over. It turns out stuff just tries to kill them all the time. Joke has been amazing in it, as has Lex.

I thought the ideas for the storylines were perfectly fine, and generally they were well executed... however, some of it just seemed to be there out of the blue, like Lady Styx (yes, I know they needed new spaceborn menaces, but I don't know if this was the right one)... it just at times seemed to be a mass way to change the DCU AGAIN, and we know how these big status quo changing events go... they generally change nothing.
