Patriots go undefeated in the regular season: No Superbowl.
Patriots lose to the Giants: Superbowl.
I really believe this. I expect the Pats to go undefeated. I do NOT expect them to make it past the AFC championship game.

The Pats may not have been all that impressive in wins over teams like the Ravens, Eagles, and Dolphins, but I think they have another gear to shift into that other teams just can't match. That's why they handled the Cowboys and Steelers, and that's why they pretty much laid an egg but still came back and beat the Colts.

That's why they handled the Cowboys and Steelers, and that's why they pretty much laid an egg but still came back and beat the Colts. It's almost like they're bored at times. They were beating teams so badly, dominating with such ease, that they just didn't seem like they cared all that much. At least it didn't seem like they cared as much as they did earlier in the season, when they were pounding teams like San Diego, Dallas, Washington, Buffalo, etc. And it's kinda understandable. It can be easy to lose focus when you're winning by such a huge margin and have the mindset that no one can touch you. But then something comes along to piss them off an motivate them (i.e. the Steelers game), and they just step on the gas and do their thing. It's truly an amazing thing to see, how they step it up in these big games or in tight spots, and are able to come through in the end. ----------------- And from the look of things, Terry Glenn will get his first snaps of the season against Washington. If Glenn plays, I wouldn't mind seeing Romo in there for a quarter or so, maybe 3-4 possessions. Just so they can work on their timing.

He's not a respectable guy right now because you talk too much trash and do this and that, but you're really not a great player in this league right now...You're surrounded by great players, but you're not a great player. I think he needs to understand where he stands in this league -- where he stands on his team first and foremost." Thank you, Champ Bailey, for sayin' what needed to be sayud. Now if only somebody would call out Ladainian Tomlinson for not actually being the "classy guy" he called himself following last year's playoff defeat. I can't wait to see the Chargers get slapped around and knocked out of the playoffs. For a team full of guys that have never won a damned thing, they sure do talk a lot of junk.

People act like they have a right to every big game. Well smurf off when I have to watch the Jets vs who ever on Sunday afternoon when they are both like 4-11 and 5-10 going in instead. Also how come Fox doesn't get in on the pie. Nobody gives a damn about the Jets thats why, and this game is not just a big game, but could be history as well. I think the NFL network doing this is a good thing seeing as how only forty percent of the country has there crap station.

As neat it is that this is the first simul-televised NFL game since the first SUPER BOWL......
I hate though that it'll pre-empt GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK on CBS, since that picture was a slap in the back to the days back when CBS News actually was worth a damn.
What I wonder is, why FOX wasn't included? weird really.

That's why they handled the Cowboys and Steelers, and that's why they pretty much laid an egg but still came back and beat the Colts. Not the fact that the Colts had 6 or more key players out with injury at that game? (Not like they aren't still going to be down a few starters by the AFC championship game) If I was a a Pats fan (which I am not), I would be concerned with the fact that they have not displayed any propensity to be able to run the ball when they have to this year. Since the AFC is going through Foxboro in January, that can't be good, especially since the Colts and especially the Jaguars have proven that they can, when needed, run the damn ball.

With one day until gameday, I'll just re-iterate my statements from Sunday evening, in regards to the game tomorrow:
"Yo man, there's no reason for either one of us to get hurt in this fight. I'll do my best to carry you, make sure you save face, there'll be no embarassment. But I promise you, if you try to press me...you hit me, you hurt me, you hit me low, cheap shot me...I'll get you out of there."
That quote, from Rocky Balboa, sums up the Patriots feelings regarding the Giants. The Giants have nothing to play for, and the Patriots are clearly the superior team. I could see this game being identical to the Dolphins-Patriots game from last Sunday. The Pats come out, build a big lead going into the half, and then flip it into cruise control.
But, if in the second half, and with the Pats up big, the Giants try any funny business, I could see Belichick throwing down the hammer, sending Brady, Moss and all the starters back out there, and giving 'em the killshot.
PREDICTION: Patriots 31, Giants 14.
The Pats will be up 24-7 at the half, the Giants will have all of their key starters out at the half, and the Patriots will have all of their key starters out by the beginning of the third quarter. Brady will get the touchdown pass record, Moss will tie Rice but that will be that.

I've been saying it for a long time now. Living in SD I'd like to think I know. Tomlinson is one of the biggest prima donnas in the game. Everything's nice and good as long as he's winning, but even one struggle (their game against Minnesotta where they got whooped on like a red-headed stepson, last year's playoff loss, etc.) and he's whining instead of straying any course. He's a fantastic player and I'm glad he helps out his community (albeit not anymore than other notable players do for theirs, but nonetheless) but he just seems like such a, for lack of a better term, baby when things aren't going his way. Makes me wonder where this whole "classiest guy" thing even comes from.

Phillip Rivers is the reason why the Chargers aren't a threat to the better teams in the AFC and NFL. He can't make every throw on the field and is basically Chad Pennington, but dumber and a bit of a prick.
Tomlinson is the biggest cry baby in the game. He whined and cried when the Pats beat the Chargers last year and has continued to be a pouty baby since. I've grown sick of ESPN trying to promote him as the greatest guy to step on the field, as he's clearly got an ego, but has enjoyed some restraint and possibly someone whispering in his ear, telling him what to say and not to say.
Also, it's almost comical reading the analysis of the Patriots. No one in the current state of the NFL is so superior that they just toy with other teams. It all boils down to matchups and schemes. We're not talking supernatural beings out on the field and when the strength of schedule tightens up for the Patriots, we'll really see where they stand in history. They've taken care of business, no doubt, but cherry picked a horrific AFC East and benefited from catching a lot of teams at the right time. Again, not taking anything away from them, but I honestly can't believe in reading what a lot of what people have read about them that anyone has watched and broken down any of their games outside of the highlights from their game. They're very good, well coached and have a ton of talent, but there are gaps in their game that many teams currently in qualified for the playoffs can exploit and, very likely, will exploit. Let's just try to move away from making them a Biblical figure and use a bit of logic and analysis.....
This isn't saying they won't beat the Giants, and won't even beat them with ease (as the Giants are an inconsistent team and the matchup isn't that favorable to the Jints), but can we work in the realm of reality instead of waxing poetically about them?

I hear that. I hear that 1000 times over. Philip Rivers is clearly still riding the wave of praise that he received in the 2006 regular season. He seems to be completely unaware of how mediocre he actually is. He's blissfully ignorant to the fact that the Chargers finished 14-2 last year because of LDT and a suffocating defense. And Tomlinson is what Randy Moss was in Oakland, in my view. He's an incredibly talented player, but he's a complete pissant when he's not getting plays called his way and when his team isn't on the winning end. You know someone is a little bitch when they themselves say "I'm a classy guy." You know what, LDT, if you were actually a classy guy, you wouldn't need to reiterate that statement. And I loved how after the loss to the Patriots in January, Tomlinson called the Pats classless for doing the dance that Shawn Merriman was known for. Well, how do you think a guy on your team looks after dancing around after one sack, that was truly irrelevant in the grand scheme of things? (Merriman sacked Brady in the second quarter inside the Patriots 20) I think its just the Chargers in general. Rivers, Tomlinson, Gates, Merriman...the whole team is just a group of showboats and look-at-me players. Like I said earlier, they talk as much junk as any other team in the NFL, only problem is...they've never won anything. I'm sick of ESPN's constant jerking off of Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and the 2007 Patriots. AND I'M A PATRIOTS FAN! This whole week, they've been airing a segment where Bill Parcells judges how the 2007 Patriots would stack up against some of the greatest teams in NFL history. Its just sickening. They're being treated as Gods, holier than thou, and unbeatable in every fathomable manner, and they haven't done anything yet. I think the Patriots are going to go 19-0 and win it all. That being said, let's not judge them historically until they actually do it. All this is doing is building the Patriots up for a letdown. If they lose, I believe that ESPN is going to run a three-day long SportsCenter "In Memoriam of the 2007 New England Patriots", like they did for the Yankees this past October.

Yup, the whole great teams from the past mostly not being able to hold a candle to this year's Pats ( who as of right now haven't won shit) is a lil ridiculous. They're a great team, but most of the teams they're being compared to played in eras where the competition wasn't nearly as watered down and parity wasn't the order of the day. It's just silly to annoint them before they've won anything. They may do so, but crap, let's I don't know start the postseason first.
