A know a lot of people here are pretty big metal fans, and then there are rap fans as well(and a lot of people who like both), and I'm sure a bunch of people who like other genres of music, but this thread is for people who (also) appreciate more mellow music. This can be about your favorite metal/rock act doing an unplugged performance, or artists who always perform more mellowly. And videos are encouraged. Here is my first contribution. Ray LaMontagne. I saw him perform on this show one time(Live at Abbey Road) when I had Sundance Channel for some trial period, and thought he was amazing. I'll post two songs from that performance. Just a man with a guitar and an amazing voice. TroubleJolene

Anything off of Dark Side of the Moon.
I find Pink Floyd's music very soothing.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Richard Carpenter is a misunderstood musical genius. Linky

Or"Wish You Were Here" as well. To add another Pink Floyd album, Animals is very mellow. I'm not sure if I've ever listened to Animals. I've really only listened to the two already mentioned(Dark Side and Wish You were Here) and The Wall. All my other Pink Floyd listenings have been just random tracks, but nothing else in an album-like environment. Funk Fact: Pink Floyd was originally in consideration to compose the music For "2001: A Space Odyssey". But then Kubrick replaced them with Alex North, who was also replaced by classic music late into the production of the film.

If you enjoy Ray LaMontagne, try Iron & Wine.

Hello Saferide Aimee Mann Fionn Regan David Ford
For mellow music, however, Damien Rice should be required listening.

And also two little acoustic songs called Pig on the Wing in between the tracks.

Besides Dark Side of the Moon, almost anything from the SMiLE era from the Beach Boys. Do You Like Worms is one I really like (and where I got the quote for my sig): www.youtube.com/watch?v=xb1vbGh4XdI

Jack Johnson can be labeled mellow, but only because he is...for now. Josh Rouse is a pretty mellow fellow. Matt Sharpe (ex of Weezer fame) has a rad little sound with his solo works.

I'd consider some of Pearl Jam to be soothing and relaxing.

I'd consider some of Pearl Jam to be soothing and relaxing. Its song to song, though. "Do the Evolution"(one of my favorite PJ songs, by the way) is not really what I'd consider mellow.

I'd consider some of Pearl Jam to be soothing and relaxing. Yeah, "Black" is my numero uno chillout song. I love it. Also, what about Jeff Buckley? I love listening to Grace in the early hours of the morning, when things are really quiet.
