I read in an interview that Kirk Hammett said the new album has a middle eastern sound in some of it. So I'm not interested if that's the case. I mean, why the middle east for a sound? seems boring Really? I love when bands dvelve into "Worldly" sounding influences. Some of the new songs sound good but I hope they work with the lyrics more. That's my only gripe.

I mean, why the middle east for a sound? seems boring I dunno...middle eastern stuff seems to work really well in metal and rock in general. It's where a lot of late Beatles stuff came from...the chord progressions and stuff just work awesomely in stuff like this. I'm looking forward to hearing more.

I doubt they will want to recreate the sound that stemmed from St. Anger. I really think their next record will bring them back from whatever shithole they crammed themselves into with St. Anger. And this Middle Eastern sound thing was eventually gonna show up in their music. It's become the "It" thing since the 1960's.

I think a return to their 80's-early 90's form is now impossible. But i'm still gonna get the record. And play it solidly for a month at least. No matter how bad it is.
Personally i'm hoping for a new hip hop direction.

Metallica is said to come out with a new album around next year(or next month). What style of music are they going to do and would the album bomb or not? Mix feelings here. I think they are spending a lot of time studying their old work and making the album with a lot of thought, but there is also a thought that it might be like St Anger. What is your predictions of the new album? I can't imagine it being any good. Hell, they haven't put out a half decent album since the black album. Still, the trinity of awesomeness that was Lightning/Puppets/Justice is enough to make me not care about whatever piles of crap they put out since.
