this poll is strictly between the big four, so don't give me any of your testament or kreator nonsense
my opinions on all four...
anthrax - made some good albums, but after they got rid of belladonna i sort of lost interest, and they're really on life support these days, which can't be said for the other three
slayer - unlistenable noise, though i appreciate they've kept the sense of evil about them, kids will still graffiti their logo, you have to respect them for that
metallica - the first three albums are tremendous, and justice for all was extremely boring, and st anger is pretty damn sad, however their 90s work is pretty solid, better than what most give it credit for
megadeth - my favourite out of them all, their first three are neck-and-neck with metallica's first three, and megadeth's more commercial work completely blows metallica's out of the water, latest album was good too
so i vote for megadeth

Well, YOUR opinions are void.

Metallica. In saying that, I'm saying I'm willing to overlook everything from Load on.

I'm a fan of all of them, but I've really liked all of the work by Antrhax. So that is what I have to go with.

Metallica are more than thrash IMO, and they won almost by default.
Needless to say, I'm referring to 80s Metallica. The eponimous album (aka Black Album) was an awesome work of turning their previous style into something more marketable to the mainstream audience. From that point on, it all become easy and uninspiring... No matter how stale or awful it was, if it had "Metallica" on it, it was $$$

I'm sorry, but if you call Slayer "unlistenable noise" you took the wrong turn off the pretentiousness turnpike. REIGN IN BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!! \m/ SLAYER \m/

I like all of them.
Megadeth being the least as I liked a lot of there stuff, but was never a major fan. I think Mustaines vocals put me off a lot.
Metallica made some incredible albums, then just seemed to stop. Still some good tunes but nothing mindblowing.
Anthrax...well I'm fan of Anthrax. Joey and John on vocals. But the whole shenanigans with the reunion and dumping John like he meant nothing to them still irks me somewhat.
so that leaves Slayer. The band that really truly got me into real metal and not glam bands and cheese rock. I still hold a real soft spot for them. So I think my vote goes here.

I would also like to point out that Slayer are so facerockingly awesome that TORI AMOS did a cover of one of their songs.

There's video on youtube of the Passion of the Christ (!!!) set to Amos' version of Raining Blood. Think about that. EDIT: Here's the video: youtube.com/watch?v=OKA4baGQrYYI personally don't think the songs all that bad. At all.

Slayer..although I like and respect all three.
It's all a matter of taste..I like the faster harder stuff...and from 86 - 94 no one has ever done fast and hard as consistently great as Slayer did.
They are still a good band, with at the very least decent albums...but they have become second rate versions of what they were then.
But hell..thats true of all these bands.
Anthrax i like....but The bush era much more. Sound Of Wite Noise is their classic.
Megadeth I like here and there...they have some good stuff but are my least favorite of these four.
Metallica at least did the opposite of Slayer and tried to change things around with their sound and evolve..some of it worked and some of it didnt but I respect them for trying.
As for the quality of their music I think their first six albums are classics...Load and Reload are enjoyable and St Anger was an attempt to change things up that failed.
But still..Im more excited to hear their next album than Slayer's.why? Because we know what Slayer will sound like...Metallica at least keeps us guessing.
