If the argument that Elvis wasn't good because he didn't write hsi own material is applied, what does that mean for the entire Motown/Spector stables? Is Kevin Smith a better actor than Tom Hanks because Smith writes his own dialogue?
Elvis Presley is like the Babe Ruth of rock music. He wasn't the first great artist. He wasn't the last great artist. It can be debated if he was the greatest artist of all time. But he is the most important artist, because he's the one that made it a mainstream part of the culture.

obviously, you did not read my previous post in this thread. no Here, I'll repost it: The Beatles. They had a much bigger influence on pop music history than Elvis. And besides, the TRUE king of Rock'n'roll is Lemmy. he is also God. Deal with it!

The Beatles. Elvis just stole acts from established African American artists and used it for himself. And there were 4 Beatles, so if one had a massive overdose, we'd still have 3 to make great music. And the Beatles didn't "steal" from those very same artists? qft

Elvis was far more talented. The Beatles were the U.K. version of *NSYNC, an over-glorified boy band with little to no true talent. At least *NSYNC has a catchy song or two, the Beatles music was boring and depressing.

The Beatles, Elvis never really wrote his music. I was never a fan of "The King". Four is always better than one.

Paul was a Musical genius, he played multiple Instruments. forget the fact that the Beatles are one of the first bands to actually write their own music. Next time actualy think about something before you write It.

The Beatles wrote most of the best songs ever, so no.

The Beatles. But I give props to Elvis. The man can sing the blues quite nicely.

I'll probably get a lot of heat for this one, but I have to say it: I think the Beatles are maybe the most overrated band of all time. I think they were good, but the greatest? Not close.
I go with Elvis hands down. Thought I'll take Chuck Berry or Buddy Holly if you got 'em.

I prefer Elvis as a vocalist and performer. However I point to both as a big part of the down fall of modern music as they are a big part of how the larger than life rock star was a born, and hacks with no talent and good looks got in to music.

The Beatles changed everything in regards to what all people know as popular music. In a weird way, Elvis made the Beatles possible, but Charles Berry made them both possible.
That said, the Beatles were 3 of the most talented musicians that ever lived (Ringo is kind of lame, but he was there) and they just happened to be in the same band.
Without John, George, and Paul, who knows where music would be today?

sorry, but the 'king' of music does not equate to the 'king of rock' as your 2 choices would imply, i could name ten musicians better and that had more impact on music than either of those 2 choices
and back on topic, the 'better' of the 2 choices is obviously the beatles, elvis stole his whole style from arthur crudup, bo diddley and others and just happened to be around in the right place at the right time because everyone loved the music the blacks were making but didnt want to support a black guy, so elvis stole their styles and sold it as his own and cashed in

Elvis is one of the greatest ever. My choice is the Beatles becauuuuse: - The Beatles had the raw talent Elvis did, but they also wrote their own music too. - The Beatles, as far as most people are concerned (though I'm not among them), never actually got off their hot period. they just released classic albums for seven years consecutively. - The Beatles innovated, changed things, and continued to do so mostly up until their final albums, while Elvis did a lot of that, he didn't continue to do it for his whole career. - The Beatles' back catalogue hasn't been as mercilessly plundered for compilations like Elvis's had.
