Say you're a musician and you and your band if you so desire have had a hell of a career, some big hits and all, but slowly it begins to peter out. Noone really wants to promote your stuff because there's newer younger artists out there, and you wind up playing in parking lots outside grocery stores. What do you do? I know it all depends on things, you still have a loyal following, they're just a bit more selective now Myself, I'd hope this didn't happen until I hit my 50's or so, but if my career became cringe worthy, I might have to quit touring and find something music related to get into(like radio) Vote and Discuss

I'd go solo. Do some indie/self-produced stuff. Maybe find a new sound. Definately get a hobby.

I'd keep on going, honestly. If I could book shows at clubs, that's all I need to do...as long as I can keep making music.

I'd ditch those losers, like Dangerously mentioned and go solo. Then it'd be all like, BOOM instant credibility, with my soft mellow hippie James Taylor-like sound.

I'd do a tour and make some new music every few years or so while producing music when I'm not doing that.

Keep on plugging away. I don't care if my crowd is 50,000 or 5 people in the aforementioned parking lot -- if I can write a song and perform it, and it connects with one other person out there and makes them feel something, then it's still worth it.

I'd go reclusive....start acting nuttier than Crispin Glover and Margot Kidder's love child...start promising a grand opus...randomly punch out people...get fat, get dreadloks...pick fights with fashion designers...
Yep. That's what I'd do.

Something like that.

Gonna have to drag my dead body off the stage, even if that "stage" is just a bunch of milk crates at the local Piggly Wiggly.
