okay so the whole point of that was to get people excited enough to want to come back next month to see Backlund/Muracho in a Texas Death Match. back then all they cared about was getting people hyped for the next show

I remember that "Texas Death Match" from last season. That was actually Backlund/Duncam but pretty much the same formula was used there. Next week's show is from December 28th, 1984 and I have no idea what matches they'll show but Hogan fought Sheik that night so that's probable. JYD also made his MSG debut that night so they could show that.

Ah, right. I just remember it was Backlund, and there was very little "Texas Death" to the Match.

I got this show from someone last year, the matches I think they'll show are Hogan/Sheik rematch, Piper/Orton vs. Snuka/Tonga Kid, and probably JYD's MSG debut. And maybe they might show clips from Piper attacking Lou Albano and Cyndi Lauper as well.

Sweet! 1984 was a great year for the WWF with the rise of Hulkamania and a lot of the big wrestlers coming up North like Orndorff, Piper, Hogan, JYD, Windham, etc. Great feuds too like Slaughter/Shiek, Piper/Snuka, and Santana/Valentine.

Caught this last night. Always great to see Arn and Tully wrestling The Rockers. They could tear the house down. Fuji was pretty funny in the ring and Tony Garea looks like John Kerry and Don Imus.
