It was worth, just for the rumble. The Cena/Umaga match wasn't bad either

Just to get them in on this thread, my ratings of each RR match-
MNM vs. Hardy's My stupid DirecTV box was screwed up so I missed the first 3-5 min. of this match but what I saw was good. Nothing spectacular given these team's previous incredible encounters but it was a solid opener that livened up the crowd. Both teams work well together and their styles mesh so you know they're putting on a good match.
Rating: **1/2 (out of *****)
Lashley (C) vs. Test - ECW Heavyweight Title For lack of a better term, this match sucked. Test has little traction as a top heel and is obviously being used as a stopgap challenger towards whoever Lashley fights at Mania'. Just a bunch of punches and forearms mixed with some power moves. The ending was awful. I was quite bored.
Rating: *
Batista (C) vs. Mr. Kennedy - World Heavyweight Championship At first glance, I thought this match would be very 'meh', however I give Kennedy HUGE props (and I'm not a worshipper like a large part of this forum) for his psychology and focus on Batista's legs the entire match. What I liked even more was that whenever he was getting into trouble, he went right back to the legs because he had weakened them earlier. Solid working there.
As far as Dave goes, he was his usual slug self combined with some nice power wrestling. He also forgot which leg to sell several times during the match. I understand being able to use the leg when necessary (such as for the Batista Bomb) but going back and forth between right and left when Kennedy was clearly focusing on one of them just prior - come on. Kennedy worked his tail off and made this match much better than it looked on paper.
Rating: **1/2
John Cena (C) vs. Umaga - WWE Championship (Last Man Standing) As I said in the other thread I started, this match DELIVERED. Period. A LMS match isn't supposed to be a technical affair with submission holds and arm drag takedowns, so the rating is going to be based off how they worked given the stipulation, which was nothing short of phenominal.
Cena sold like crazy the entire match and Umaga looked every bit like an unstoppable monster, even in defeat. Cena also had a decently sick blade job and several of the spots were creative. Yes you knew how it would end, but even the ending itself was crafty. Both men had a hell of a night and should be given props for it.
Rating: **** (best undercard match of the night)
Royal Rumble This match delivered as well. Started off slow, picked up, then slowed down again (such as just before Khali came out) then had a sick ending. The final two was one of the best endings I remember in a Rumble.
I thought they threw something away with having Flair be out so early. Yeah he wouldn't win, but have him last a while at #1. I also like how they didn't bury some of the younger talent such as Punk. It was a well constructed Rumble and while Taker' obviously didn't need to win to validate a ME match at Mania', I think it was one of a few right calls they could have made.
The only guys in this thing that realistically had a shot were HBK, Taker', Khali, Orton and Edge. Orton and Edge will be feuding soon, likely at Mania', Khali isn't ready yet which leaves HBK and Taker'. You couldn't go wrong with either. Just goes to show how a lot of us (me included) sometimes get whiny about pushing the younger guys to the top of the card, however 15+ year veterans such as Taker' and HBK can still put on a hell of a show.
I enjoyed this Rumble quite a bit.
Rating: ***

I marked like a 5-year-old n00b mark while watching the Khali Karnage!! He BRAIN CHOPPED the hell outta that match and each one put the room i was in in stitches and laughter and cheers. As for the show, great WWE product. Nothing extraordinary, but the SD and RAW title matches were great and the Rumble was superb.
Thanks WWE

That was a great ending to the Rumble match. THAT's how you book the last 2 people left in the rumble. Both are so desperate as they've come so far and there are near eliminations and reversals and comebacks all over the place. HBK and Taker got what, 10 minutes after Rated RKO were tossed?
