He survived it because it was a WORK... both falls were planned... They were still ridiculously brutal bumps that if even the slightest thing had gone wrong, Foley would have been in a wheelchair for the rest of his life, or worse. Just because it was a work doesn't mean it wasn't legitimately dangerous for him to be taking those bumps.

He survived it because it was a WORK... both falls were planned... What the f***? So what does that even mean? That Sid only broke his leg because he broke off from script? Hayabusa's paralysis was because his moonsault wasn't "planned"?

I don't care if it was planned or not, the way he hit the mat was real.

I never understood why people celebrate Mick Foley's bumps. The guy almost kills himself unnecessarily, and we're supposed to applaud him for it?
The late-'90's will always be the era where wrestlers were forced to literally break their necks to please the audience. It's sad.

According to JR, he did die.
But since he's Mick Foley, he just shook death off & continued the match.

This match was brutal. It's my all-time favorite. I was like 11 when it happened and it was f***ing surreal. I remember thinking that the match was over after the first bump through the table (And I think what MAY have helped was that he kinda elbow-dropped it. At least it looks that way, maybe he thought that it would kind of be the same effect of elbow-dropping someone from that height?) and put him on the stretcher. But shit, when it went on I couldn't believe it. That chokeslam too, the cell gave in on it, and I vividly remember Taker telling Foley to stay down. I thought it was just Taker playing his character (I didn't know how things worked and how they communicated until I heard Ken Shamrock tell Ryan Shamrock to slap him after she miscued) and Christ it was just surreal. Best match I've seen. Bar none.

I understand that.... but u believe this stuff? Yeah, because it's pretty well documented fact that those things were shoots. Well, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the "Lost my smile" thing being fake, because Shawn did cut that promo, and he did take the time off, for whatever reason, so... ya know what? I don't care. I mean, wow, dude. I've heard some asinine stuff in my day, but my god. I'm done with ya.

The late-'90's will always be the era where wrestlers were forced to literally break their necks to please the audience. It's sad. People "celebrate" Foley's bumps because it's an instance of a wrestler giving a lot of himself physically to entertain the hell out of the audience, give them their money's worth, and give them something they'll remember for a long time to come, which is what wrestling is. Mission accomplished. And it's not like he was forced to take the bump off the cage. He worked that out himself. People were breaking their necks before the 90's, at that. It's the nature of the beast. If you wrestle professionally for a career (or box, ETC) you ARE going to wind up with major injuries, many of which are going to follow you around for the rest of your life. Wrestlers were breaking bones and getting cauliflowered ears back in the time of Frank Gotch.

Edge/Lita/Matt a shoot? Um no... only a dumbass would believe that! Yes, it was. It was a shoot that turned into a terribly booked work. Where the hell are you getting your info? Dammit, I thought I was done with this, but my GOD...
