Every week I look at ECW's New Breed and I just laugh at them. Seriously look at them. Now Elijah and Marcus make sense. One is a former Boxer and the other is a former football player. You could see this make sense and both are cocky and there personalities are some what alike.
But than you throw in Matt Striker, who I like but I know most don't. But still he just dosen't seem to mesh with Elijah and Marcus. Striker is all about lecturing and telling people what to think and do while Elijah and Marcus are jocks and Striker comes off as a nerd especially with the argyle kneepads. Also he is a former teacher go two jocks hanging with a lecturing teacher that seems off. Although there is some sort of reality in that and is possible that there could have some reality there.
However all Reality gets tossed with Ariel and Kevin Thorn. I'm not going to get into the idea of a vampire named Kevin dosen't really frighten me honestly but really they are on the totally otherside of the spectrum as Burke, Cor Von and Striker. I mean they are alt-emo-goth and believe they are vampires(they don't actually say that they are) and to quote Joey Styles they frequent in bite clubs. Seriously could you see Elijah stopping at a bite club? Or Kevin Thorn in his goth clothing hanging out with Elijah and Marcus?
No it dosen't see possible too me. I mean at least with the originals they seem to all be from the same scenes and lifestyles that it makes sense. I'm sorry but it just comes to me that it just seems strange. I can't think of worst stable than this. Most previous stables had something in common but this I mean just weird.

It would make more sense to replace Thorne with Punk, and push a Punk vs RVD angle

I didn't think about it till you pointed out all their gimmicks, but they could be the Breakfast club with all it's assortments of high school stereotypes, but being led by that principal who looks like Vince McMahon.

It would make more sense to replace Thorne with Punk, and push a Punk vs RVD angle Punk has some reality to be in the New Breed. Although I like thinking of him as "Lone Wolf" CM Punk basically filling the Scott Hall role in this feud(i.e. nWo Hollywood vs nWo Wolfpack) I just like the thought of Cor Von and Thorne just hanging around like they are best friends with Ariel always over him I don't why but I would love to see that, for some reason.

I'd like to see more back stage segments involving the new breed outside of the ring. That might look hilarious.

They arent supposed to be alike. They are together for a common goal. That being to push the ECW Originals out of the picture so the spotlight is all theirs. You don't have to be a group of clones to do that.

Two Blacks, a Goth, and a Pencil Casethere i've described the New Breed sans Ariel. Unless she's a bit saggy in the wrong places. As for mismatched stables, I'd say the Survivor Series were Davey Boy Smith was in Team Canada, Test in any stable on any promotion with 'extreme' in its title, and HeadCheese, if anyone remembers that. But then that was deliberate. It also sucked.

You don't have to be a group of clones to do that. Yeah I like it when you have a "mismatched stable" as opposed to one where everyone just happens to be the same, its too obvious, too cliche. Stables like Team Canada. We're Candian + They're American = Lets Fight them. Where everyone on the stable gives the exact same promo, has the same character, and has the exact same thoughts on everything.

The nWo: for me personally, the greatest collection of wrestlers who had no real rhyme or reason to be associated together. But they had cool T-shirts, so we didn't care.

Yeah, I think it looks horrible with Stiker & Thorne there, the Orignals on the other hand go together nicely.

See the thing is, the only odd one out is Burke. He seems like the only normal one in the group. Monty/Marcus is from the jungles, he's an alpha male. Thorn's the dark devil. Striker's a washed up teacher or something who wants to be a wrestler. Burke's just Burke. A wrestler, that is all, he has nothing to him.

I'd mark for that segment. Especially if it was a part of an ongoing series wherin the New Blood and the Thousandaires Club try to sway Punk th thier side.

When I look at the New Breed, I am reminded of the Batman movie from the 60s. Everyone remembers that one, right?
Well, if you don't. Let me give you the gist of it. Penguin, Joker, Catwoman, and Riddler team up to take out Batman and Robin with a submarine painted to look like a penguin. Now, those villains give off a real "thrown together" feeling, but it kicks ass seeing them together.
Another good example of this is with the series "Challenge of the Super-Friends". In that one, 13 random DC Comics villains team up to form the Legion of Doom and fight the Super-Friends. Once more, a thrown together team seems really cool to me.
The same is true here. Granted, if you just look at them as a Teacher, a Vampire, a Loudmouth, and a former NFL player, it seems like crap. However, just looking at them as a group without thinking of it, they look like a good ol' supervillain team from DC Comics, and that is cool.
Maybe it's just because I'm a comic book reading geek that I see this as being a cool thing.
