I'm not really high on the guy, but wasn't it a few months ago that he was set up as the sports star that got the crap beat out of him constantly. How did he get into a US title match at Wrestlemania? Is it the lack of heels on Smackdown?

MVP was in a series of grueling matches with Kane like cage match, A street fight, and an Inferno match and really did well in my opinion against Kane and really held his own against him although he did get "burned" also he is very charismatic and very talented in the ring so he deserves more than anybody on Smackdown and by 2008 you'll be calling MVP, World Champion!

Yeah I'd say the lack of heels certainly plays into it. I didn't see the progression but it's probably one of those wacky, fly-by-night pushes that is both nonsensical and hasty. I think they figure if you look at Bobby Lashley enough times you'll forget everything except your Credit Card number for use on WWE Shopzone. MVP is someone I could not stand initially. He's "slowly gaining acceptance." I've never had a problem with his character, it just seems he's being used much better now.

Hey, I never commented on his attire.
The inflatable entrance is kinda goofy though.

MVP was the character of a cocky sports star who had a load of hype, but didn't live up to it upon debut. He wanted some competition, someone to make him work up a sweat. So Teddy long said things are about to get real hot in here, and out came a Smackdown! debuting Kane.
They had a pretty awesome feud that intertwined with the Taker- Kennedy feud. MVP beat Kane in a steal cage match and a street fight before Kane got some revenge by winning the inferno match.
It looked like they were going to carry on the feud prior to the Rumble as they had an awesome match on the Smackdown before the rumble where MVP teased trying to set Kane on fire and made Kane go crazy.
Then Rumble came and Kane got thrown together with King Booker for a feud and MVP about a month later set his sights on the U.S title.

I also wanted to state that I don't dislike the guy, just that he has a certain blandness to him in the same way carlito does to me. I do like his promos though (MVP, not carlito).

Yeah thats the thing I like bothe Carlito and MVP about the same. Really Carlito would be so popular if he was a heel and/or had a decent storyline and was being pushed. Seriously everyone one than would be Carlitoholic!

I think his willingness to be SET ON FIRE earned him a push, and rightfully so.

Hey, I never commented on his attire. The inflatable entrance is kinda goofy though. i was going to say "who?" until i saw that this was mentioned, now all i can say is i am waiting for the day the prop guy's mix up the helium/methane and oxygen bottles for filling his inflatable entrance thingy. oh come on you know it'll be funny to see that thing go up in flames.

Why they never did that in the Kane feud I'd never know. Genius.

Assuming the rumors of Benoit dropping the strap going to RAW are true, I guess that MVP is the only heel over enough on SmackDown for Benoit to drop it to.
