PWTorch.com reports that Big Show turned down two specific WWE deals. He rejected the first, which carried a price tag in the ballpark of his current $1 million/year deal, due to the fact that it required him to wrestle. The wrestler feels physically burned out, and he has no desire to commit to a long-term contract with required in-ring work.
WWE also offered Big Show a smaller (but still financially large) deal for his "intellectual property rights," which is essentially a fee to keep Show at home and prevent him from joining a competitor. He rejected that as well, although sources say he has no immediate intentions to join TNA.
Interesting.

Show made a huge amount of money off his first contract--at this point, money's not much of a worry for him. He certainly did his part in WWE, and he got all three championships the WWE has--he had a pretty good career.

Yeah, but he was WCW Champion, and it's really the same belt. He's already in that title's lineage.

He was the WCW Champ but, WWE doesn't have that as a part of the WHC's lineage sadly (I wish they did though). So technically he has only held 2 of the 3 top WWE Titles.

He was the WCW Champ but, WWE doesn't have that as a part of the WHC's lineage sadly (I wish they did though). So technically he has only held 2 of the 3 top WWE Titles. The WCW World and WHC World titles are indeed the same title. Not just because of the belt design (which means nothing) but because of the time line. First of all the name. The WCW World title was renamed simply "World title" shortly before it was unified with the WWF World title. While the two titles were unified, they became known as the "Undisputed World title". A stipulation about being the Undisputed World champion is that you had to defend the title on both brands so that neither brand would lack title shots. However when Brock Lenser became exclusive to Smackdown he could no longer defend on RAW. Do to this breech of contract he was stripped of the WCW/WHC World title by Raw GM Eric Bischoff who awarded it to Hunter Hearst Helmsley who was the number one contender at the time. As evidence that this was indeed the WCW World title, Brock Lenser was no longer called the "Undisputed World champion" indicating that he no longer held the WCW/WHC World title. This is very similar to what happened to Jerry Lawler back in 1988. Lawler was the reigning AWA World champion at the time. He defeated World Class champion Kerry Von Eric to unify the titles which became known as the "Unified World title". As the "Unified World champion" Lawler was required to defend in both AWA and WCCW territories. After missing several scheduled title defenses in AWA territories, Lawler was stripped of the AWA World title (which was won by Larry Zbyszko in a battle royal) but remained WCCW champion which was renamed the USWA championship. As you can see a nearly identical situation. Yes the WCW World and WHC World titles are one and the same. On a few occasions (probably by accident) the announcers have referred to it as the WCW World title. While it's WCW history is not listed on WWE.com, that does not change the facts. After all the WWF doesn't even list the entire history of the ECW or even the WWF World titles as they leave out the pre Shane Douglas days of ECW and they leave out Antonio Inoki's WWF world title win (and Bob Backlund's regaining of the title a few days later).

Again, I wish they would included the WCW lineage (from the NWA spilt on). We can say it all we want but, WWE does not. that is simply the facts. www.wwe.com/inside/titlehistory/worldheavyweight/

I wouldn't mind show doing something funny. Everytime they let him be a goofball he totally exceeds. Him and Foley doing goofy skits would be amazing.

I imagine it's not just the wrestling, but the constant travel that Show doesn't want to deal with anymore. Being on a plane almost every day at his size must be torture. That's the only reason I could see TNA has a possibility down the road, at least for a short term deal.

Big Show in TNA? We already have one monster and his name is Abyss. I guess Paul Wight would actually be a giant in a literal since if he ever went to TNA considering that 80 percent of the wrestlers are under 6'.

Good post, I agree. I'm also surprised Show turned down the "intellectual property" deal, if he really doesn't want to wrestle. Sit @ home money is good money.

An offnote but vital...Ric Flair is probably the only guy that won both the NWA and WWE championship title.

I think Buddy Rogers held both titles as well Yes, that started the controversy and split Capitol Wrestling (which became WWWF after the split) from the NWA.
