I love how WCW never saw anything in him past being a midcard cruiserweight, then he goes to the WWF and they decide to debut him against their top star, and he gets one of the biggest pops in wrestling history. WCW was stupid.

WCW was stupid. You think the WWE would do it differently today? I bet they'd be more apt today to see Jericho as wCw did back then......nothing more than a "jobber to the stars".......

WCW was stupid. But WWF/E never really did anything with him. Sure, he was champion, but he was still a jobber. WCW did suck and they were stupid, I'm not gonna argue that, but watch this: youtube.com/watch?v=4W3_VdlXmQ0If WWE only let him be Jericho, by doing things like this, he would have been huge. Same with the Dudleys... they could have been the biggest heel tag team of all-time had WWE not watered them down like they did with Jericho. So, Jericho and the Dudleys were both champs, but their best moments had already passed.

Certainly the greatest surprise debut in WWE history. All the news sites were pretty sure the countdown was Jericho's debut.......I wasn't surprized.

Jericho remains the biggest waste of talent in pro-wrestling. Jericho was the only guy who could have carried the company after the exit of Rock and Austin. Instead they job him out to everyone.
I totally agree that Jericho's run in the WWF was a flop. In WCW he had numerous classic promos and solid cruiser matches. His WWF run is tainted by feud with Chyna, cleaning Stephanie's dog's poop (WHILE FREAKIN UNDISPUTED CHAMP) and jobbing clean to pretty much the entire roster at some point. Also as a heel champ he was beyond cowardly. They made him seem like a fluke paper champion.
The sad thing is they had so many chances to make the guy a legit super over star and every time dropped the ball.

I didn't have the internet at the time yet, but I did know Jericho was on his way to the WWF. Probably from this hotline i called back then, it was about 40% accurate but they imphasised Jericho had left WCW and was coming to the WWF for weeks so I was guessing they were probably pretty sure.
I didn't know the countdown was for him, but he was my main guess and I popped big in my living room when Jericho came across the tron just as the people in the arena did.
Great moment.

There were a lot of good things Jericho did, Jericho's run in WWE was definetely not a FLOP. I wasn't on the internet when Jericho debuted so the total shock of seeing him there was probably the biggest mark out moment I've ever experienced. Then there's his very first feud with Triple H, where he beat Triple H for the WWE Championship temporarily, I thought his feud with Chyna was fine, his promos against Stephanie McMahon, Benoit and Jericho stopping the power trip, it's easy to make WWE's use of ANY wrestler look like a flop if you're just gonna point out the foibles.

See, I only watched Nitro until RAW came on at this time, and had no clue Chris Jericho existed. And I wasnt on the Net. Thus, he was totally new to me, and I became a Jericho mark shortly after. I mean, the man but Road Dogg through a table back when RD was in DX, which I was (still am) a huge mark for, and I was like "Awesome." So, yeah, big Jericho fan now.

True, but in terms of potential, they squandered Jericho's talent. I think if they had pushed him properly during and after his title reign then he would still be wrestling today.

To an extent, Jericho's talents were wasted. He was the definition of the complete package in wrestling, as, even if he wasn't the absolute best at every facet of the game, he was damn good, and even great, in just about every single one.
And yet some of the more enduring memories of his WWF run include being Stephanie's manservant (and while he was champ, no less), and never really reaching the highest plateau he could have, given proper booking.
Still, he definitely gained stature in the wrestling world after going to WWF, that much is certain; while he was certainly booked well most of the time in WCW given his position, I don't think we would've seen "World Champion Chris Jericho" in WCW as soon as we saw it in WWF.

Very well put. The Stephanie thing still pisses me off to this day, and I will forever hang this one on HHH's petty jealousy.

Let´s hope he return to WWE, gets crapped on, and he, Chavo and Benoit all go to TNA and become mega stars.
Ah this is a silly dream. Benoit and Chavo love their place at the E...But I´d rather see him somewhere esle. I just KNOW he will be jobbed to Ortonreich and Jacinto Cena.

I'd like to see him in the new breed ecw because at least he's old school. Before anyone flames you for saying it.....I would have agreed at first, as Jericho would have been ANOTHER credible name to take the strap from RVD (Add him to the list of Justin Credible, Tommy Dreamer, Sandman, Jerry Lynn, and Mike Awesome) and avoid tainting what was supposed to be a "separate" promotion with excessive use of WWE roster guys with NO TIES to the original ECW. But now? Jericho needs to be as far from the abortion that is WWECW as possible.
