You know, all this shooting nonsense between the two has sort of made it so that noone really knows the true story. WWE is now doing it, Angle's been doing it, TNA did it for a bit.
But I will say this, whether you liked the result or not, Angle leaving the WWE for TNA was undoubtfully one of if not the biggest story in Wrestling in 2006. The fact that someone as big as Angle wanted out of the company pretty much opens the gate for other talents to jump ship not just from WWE to TNA, but from TNA to WWE. Monty Brown, a few weeks after Angle's arrival, left TNA and went to the WWE almost in the exact way.
I'm not saying this will herald another Monday Night War or anything. Far from it. But this was TNA's biggest turning point. Now the WWE can't ignore it and sooner or later, it'll be a big alternative. People will be watching TNA over WWE. And as soon as someone like Gregory Helms, Shelton Benjamin, Conway, heck, someone bigger like HBK or even The Undertaker or someone else noone would expect, jumps ship, WWE won't be able to ignore it either.

whoa dude this place really likes to blow things out of proportion... like this is anything like Angle and TNA ripping on WWe for months.... it was just a little snide remakr that anyone one of us here had made over the last few weeks...
Kurt Angle makes it seem like it was some kind of amicable release on his website, claims he needs a break, and was too worn down... shows up three weeks later, claims to be in the best shape of his life and continually giving interviews and making ridiculous claims where most of us are in agreement that he's gone completely insane and ridiculously bitter about the whole puder thing...

someone bigger like HBK or even The Undertaker
babahahahahahahababahahahahahahahahaha *deep breath*
oh man the laughter nearly killed me then.
sorry, but those two names are NEVER going to go to TNA. Taker stayed through all the katie vick and everything. he's there for life.
and hbk? tied in a 5 year contract after being persuaded to continue wrestling. no chance.
as for "when tna makes these remarks its bad, when wwe does it's good"
one snide remark, which is chuckle worthy is not the same as outright-time-consuming verbal bashing

I read WWE.com's comments, and I guess I don't see it as bashing. All they said was that Kurt's rest period lasted three weeks; because it did! It's not like they said "He rested for 3 weeks, then went to wrestle in the minor league" or "He rested for 3 weeks and TNA SUXORS"

And they're completely right in that statement, too. (Assuming that IS an actual quote from Angle and not something they just wrote for him) I agree. I don't consider that much of a shot, more like a statement of fact. Kurt Angle is an ***hole so I really don't care on way or another...

He was released on Aug 25, he signed with TNA Sept 24, made his first appearance on Oct 19, and wrestled his first match November 16. The last two were tapings that I dont know when took place. but he took :
- 30 days between being released and signing with TNA.
- 24 more days until his first appearance in TNA aired on TV.
- 28 more days until his first match with Abyss aired on TV.
Thats at least 2+ months of being out of the ring.

The fact is Angle got out of his WWE contract by basically telling them that he was done with wrestling for a while, a while meaning a year or so, and the 'E were under the impression he would return somewhere down the line, a la Shawn Michaels But then Angle does a complete 180 on what he said and joined TNA to continue wrestling.

WWE were "under the impression"? A release is a release, that means all doors are now open. Shawn Michaels was never released, he still made appearances and such while not an active wrestler. Angle was severed of all ties.

Both companies are being petty as hell, albeit in different ways. TNA's only outlets are television and the 'net. Consequently, any snide remarks or skits like VKM that they produce will be aired on those outlets.
WWE's remarks against Angle have occurred on RAW (JR's remark when Melina took a bump of "she's pulling a Kurt Angle"), the WWE magazine (showing a Kurt Angle tattoo with a comment of "bet they regret that" or something), and now the website.
TNA is being more outright about their slams, but both companies are pulling them. Simply because one side yells the insults with a megaphone, while the other just yells, doesn't make it any more or less petty and childish.

As others have said, I think the "rest period and quality family time" is still continuing. He works, what, 3 days out of the month? 2 TV tapings and a PPV. His travel time is virtually non-existant compared to a WWE schedule, and he's still got 90% of the month off. If I were Kurt and had that opportunity available to me, I'd jump at the chance too.

I think the whole situation is pretty complicated.
1) Kurt wants to wrestle but is/was on alotta drugs.
2) WWE doesn't want Kurt wrestling AND violating the Wellness Policy.
3) WWE wanted to do something strong enough (i.e., full release) to make it clear Kurt had to be drug-free, while leaving the door open to a probable future return.
They got burned, but it's hard to feel sorry for big corporations getting burned--WWE has done lots of others things to other people such that "loyalty" is not much of an operative concept for their wrestlers.

I like how a shot at Angle is deserving but when TNA does it to WWE it's petty. WWE took a shoot? Yes. Do they tell us :"HEY KIDDIES! LOOK! TNA SUCKS, WE ROCK. STOP WATCHING !"? Nope. The shoot was at Angle, and Angle alone.
