Sid was more entertaining as far as promos go. And he had a better finisher than Batista's.

Hmm...Batista's weapon of choice seems to be tables that don't always break the first time, Sid's weapon of choice...DEATH SQUEEGEE.
...The real question is which one has half the brains that the other has.

I marked out when Sid hit that old guy with the camera.
I never marked for Bautista ever.

I'm gonna say Batista, since I've noly been a wrestling fan since 1999.

Didn't Sid shit in his pants during his match with the Undertaker in a house show one time?

Definitely Sid, he at least played an entertaining character. When Batista comes on my TV, I just want to throw Greg Proops action-figures at him.

Sid wasn't dull. SOMETHING entertaining was going to happen when Sid showed up. You could at least count on that.

I am giving this to Sid because he was the most on his game in 96 (around there), wheras Batista now most of the time moves like he's afraid that if he stubs his toe his skeleton will vaporize.

Batista. His Spinebuster to Powerbomb just barely outshines the Chokeslam to Powerbomb. Also Batista has a better promo than Sid, but it counters out when Sid's music fits his gimmick at the time.

Batista sucks at promos. "Thank....God....I have my title back! Yeah!"
....
Sid was at least funny at times.

While he wasn't the most exciting in the ring, Sid made up for it with his intensity. I believed that man would kick ass when he went out there. I don't get that impression from Bats' at all.

lol. if Batista were around in 96 and Sid now, the results of this pole would be opposite, Excellent point. I remember Sid being the first person I didn't give heel heat to, it was more heat of the "I can't believe this guy wins title matches" sort. I couldn't stand Sid in any capacity in the later stages of my markhood, which was obvious when he was a face and I still couldn't believe he was as important to the show as he was. I marked for all the faces. All of them except Sid anyway. Looking back now, I actually appreciate him more now. He was a good look for a monster heel and it worked. But he'll always just be the Lex Lugar that actually won the World title to me.

Sure the nostalgia factor plays a role here...
I wasn't really a fan of Sid, but I have to admit he was impressive back then for size and intensity. Considering his size he was a good wrestler (e.g. the match with HBK at Mania wasn't bad) and his promos were ok (and hilarious at times...) He was probably a bit overpushed, but who hasn't been?
Batista was interesting only during the Evolution break-up, just because we wanted someone to beat the hell out of Triple H so badly that we'd have cheered even Johnny Parisi... Once Batista had the belt and was done with Triple H, the ride was over. The program with Eddie would have helped, as Batista is actually good as a "fake-dumb" face. Too bad destiny had other plans for Eddie... So now Batista is kinda stale, stuck in his role of Top Hoss, with little competition... Where to go from there???
All in all, I think Sid had the advantage of a much better (or I'd say better marketed) roster to work with, so in hindsight he looks much better than Batista. Both are decent-to-good big men, with good charisma and decent promo skills. The difference is nostalgia and booking.
