I'm not sure if this is the approbate place to post this but I have to say something. To make a long story short I lurk here on WC way more than I post. After the tragic events that took place this week I came here to try to make some sense of it all (even when all the threads were closed down). I wondered if I was the only one having trouble sleeping, or just getting through the last couple of days. Turns out, I wasn't the only one. Coming here and reading the posts and responses (good, bad and indifferent) helped me out big time. Thank you fellow crappers and moderators. I'll never come here and just lurk and take advantage of this place again.

Lol Vince owned Meridith a Few times. She was like over 60 wrestlers have died since 1985 being under the age 65, what cause do you think drugs had. Vince told her her only 5 of those were current employs but she kept saying drugs killed most of them. 5? So, Owen: Fall Pillman: Heart condition, wasn't it? Eddie: Past drug abuse Benoit: ...yeah Who am I forgetting?

That really is a great response from Matt Hardy. He's hit the nail on the head a few times there.

Matt Hardy comments on his myspace blog My brief comments on this week's tragedy
Hello my friends. I hope all of you and your families are doing well. I wanted to post something based on all of the events that have taken place over the last few days. Many of you have sent me messages worrying about me and asking if I'm ok. Just so you know--I'm good, thanks for asking. I have quite a bit that I actually wanna discuss concerning the Benoit tragedy, the media's coverage of it, and what this means for the future of the business. If I am given the blessing of the powers that be in the WWE, I will write a very detailed, in-depth blog stating my unedited opinions. For now, I just wanted to address all of my friends, fans, and supporters with a summary of my feelings and thoughts.
I haven't always agreed with every decision Vince McMahon has made, but I do agree with everything he's done dealing with this situation thus far. Out of respect for the sudden death of Benoit's family and his contributions to the business, I think Vince did the right thing by canceling the scheduled Raw. When the decision was made to make Raw a Chris Benoit tribute show, the WWE was only doing what seemed respectful and right at that time. When more information was discovered, the WWE took a different and appropriate stance towards their programming. The ECW and Smackdown shows this week were dedicated to our great fans. Wrestling fans who were grieving and confused over this tragedy needed us, including me, to entertain them. I feel it is my responsibility, as well as my pleasure, to put smiles on people's faces and give them an escape from reality. I know Vince feels that way as well.
Chris Benoit was always kind, considerate, and professional when I interacted with him. Like everyone else, I was shocked when everything came out. I can't believe Chris Benoit and his wife and child are dead as I type this. As of now, all of the strange pieces of this puzzle haven't been put together yet. My thoughts and prayers go out to Benoit's other two children as well as the immediate family and friends of the deceased. More than anything, I feel terrible for little Daniel--he was as innocent as any human being could possibly be. This is a terrible and sad tragedy.
I am very disappointed with how many media outlets are lapping the entire population of professional wrestlers into this situation. There are many outstanding, wonderful people that do so many great things for the world that I work and wrestle with. It's not fair or accurate.
Tell the people you love that you love them, and never lose sight of what's really important in life. We may not ever understand why this tragedy happened, but we have to learn from it. Stay strong--life is too precious and too short. I have much more I want to say about the activities of the last few days. If it's appropriate, I definitely will. Be well my friends, I'll talk to you soon...

Matt has a link to all of the wrestlers' MySpace pages on his site (sans Edge's, of course). Honestly, I joke about Matt's emo-blogging a lot, but I really wanted to hear his take on things. That was an excellent post.

Wanted to share a message on my myspace from Victoria. I found it touching that she is concerned for people.
" Hey All.
I had planned ..ing off talking about a recent trip to an arena football game, but I would be remiss not to address the Chris Benoit situation. Everyone who knew anything about wrestling knew of his in-ring contributions. I truly don't know what I can say and not get in trouble with the WWE. Anyone who reads my blogs regularly knows how much I love wrestling, and being part of the WWE. But I think what I have to say is more important. His son, Daniel, came to many shows. We bonded. He a was a cute little boy. What Chris did was selfish and hurtful. I fear that him being a superstar in some way glamorizes the situation. That's not what suicide is. It is selfish and hurtful. As long as you have a breath to breathe, you can make change to improve your life. You can talk to family, or friends, or clergy. And if you're not comfortable with any of them, here are two phone numbers for a Suicide and Crisis Hotline. 1-800-784-2433 (1-800-SUICIDE) or 1-800-273-8255 (1-800-273-TALK). They take calls 24/7. You always have options. Maybe someday I'll be able to forgive Chris, but not today.
God Bless Us All, Lisa Marie"

Hi guys I haven't posted since January, I was actually set to start watching wrestling again this week because my work hours finally changed and I would be off on Monday nights.
So I go to sleep Monday night knowing that next week I'll be watching wrestling again, actually I was playing FF VII. I turn on ESPN radio and hear Beniot and his family are dead.
So I went on to the net and monitored the news for the last few days because I was a huge Beniot mark and I was curious as I'm sure we all were.
So when I heard the news that he strangled his wife and smothered his kid I was horrified. My next thought was, 'I wonder if he tried to put her in the cross face.'
(Sorry about the comment, that's really what I thought don't flame me, my comment doesn't make any of them any less dead.)
Anyway I then got thinking about whose fault this was. Obviously its Beniot's fault because he wigged out and and his actions toward his family were inexcusable. He could kill himself all day long and I wouldn't care but the kid was innocent.
So what do we know for sure?
1. He was a wrestler and had a hard schedule (who cares if he didn't like it he could sell cars or whole life insurance or work in a supermarket.)
2. Because his job was physically taxing he took steroids. They were found in his house from the same place involved in the internet scandal with a Pittsburgh Steelers consultant earlier this year.
3. He had a volcanic tempter, most likely because of the steroid abuse.
4. His wife was scared to death of him.
With all of that said this is how I divide the blame.
1. Beniot- he is an adult and responsible for his actions.
2. His wife- she knew he was a maniac, she took out the restraining order because at one point she was afraid for her safety but she didn't leave while she was alive, that's horrible judgment on her part. The first time he flipped out and broke all the furniture in the house should have been the last but six figure incomes will do that to people.
3. Us- Wrestling fans encourage these performers to abuse steroids by buying tickets watching the shows, ppvs, toys, video games t-shirts etc. These men are dying, over 100 men under 44 dead in the last twenty years compared to 1 in the last eleven in all of MMA. Boxers are out living wrestlers and they get punched in the head for a living, because they actually have some type of drug testing they are not allowed to abuse drugs and don't drop dead like British Bulldog or Rick Rude of flip out and kill innocent kids or annoying wives.
4. Vince- how many wrestlers have to die before you enforce a more strict drug policy?
That's my piece.

I don't even know where to correct you here. Should we stop watching basketball and football because some of their top stars are allegedly everything from rapists to drug users to killers to dog fighters?
Yes, its Benoit's fault. Yes, Vince needs to make and actually ENFORCE a stricter policy that includes mental health checkups as well. And yes, Nancy should've left Benoit, but so should thousands of abused wives all over the world. But the fans? I disagree.

Sherri's death is bumming me out even more.
She was overshadowed by a fake dead guy, and now Benoit's bullshit.

Am I the only one bothered by WWE removing all Benoit-related footage from the MNW and ECW programs on 24/7? I understand removing all website references, but I don't agree with this. I am paying (in part) to see those old Nitros in their entirety and, like it or not, Benoit was a big part of them.

Unless Vince has no choice, he won't do it. He hasn't done before, which proves that. After what happened, I think he may have no choice but to change the way he does business. An event like this cannot happen again.

Vince did very well in his interview. I am glad to see him defend his business and fight back against the witch hunt. The media is rediculous in their coverage and it is completely unfair to paint every WWE wrestler and employee with the same brush. Benoit had issues and the WWE did everything in its current limits with the knowledge they had to deal with it.
It is not WWE's job to babysit its talent and control every aspect of their lives. Look at the way WWE handled Nick Dinsmore's problems, Eddie's issues, etc. They are willing to assist talent with getting the help they need, but at some point it falls on the individual. Yes, the travel and the bumps and bruises are hard and it is understandable how they end up with addictions, especially painkillers and steroids. And yes the lifestyle is not condusive to maintaining a family life. But once a wrestler is no longer contracted to the WWE it becomes the wrestlers responsibility to manage themselves and the WWE has no, or should they have any, obligation or responsibility to the wrestlers.
All they can do now is strengthen the Wellness policy if needed, educate the talent, espcially the young talent on the dangers of the lifestyle and encourage the talent to seek help if needed. I would also suggest the WWE hires a therapist and/or psychiatrist to travel full time with the company so the talent always has a professional to talk to when issues arise. Sorry for the length of this, but after several days of gathering my thoughts, it was time to get them out. Thanks.
