I think the WWE just want to give the media as little reason to nitpick as possible by not showing his name. When it cools down, his name will be displayed on old PPVs again.

how did they handle the OJ Simpson situation They thought about getting him for a match at Wrestlemania but instead decided to show footage of his police chase claiming it was Roddy Piper in the bronco. That would have been the greatest thing in history.

I agree give it a few years and people will talk about the WRESTLER again and throw this horrible situation in as a side note. This probably belongs in the all-purpose thread, but I think there are some things that will NEVER be looked at as a side note. A double murder-suicide is one of those things. I'll agree that it was not the WWE that went "insane," they're totally in the right.

you couldnt poosibly keep his profile. how would it end? you can't just pretend it never happened, but you also cant end his bio with: "Benoit snapped and killed his wife and son, then himself. The end" his actions now cast a shadow over his whole career

This will probably happen to you soon. It just happened last Thursday here.
Two representatives from WWE came to my house and asked me if I had a copy of Wrestlemania 20 on DVD. I showed it to one of the two guys, and he quickly snapped it out of my hand and yanked out disc 2, replacing it with a recordable DVD with the words "new ending" scribbled on it in Magic Marker..
After they left, I watched the disc and the saw that the final match is heavily edited, with a fuzzed out figure making Triple H tap out while the audio commentary has been completely replaced with the song "I'm A Bad Man" by John Cena. There is then ten minutes of dark Snitsky close-ups and warnings that he's coming soon..
I also have a vague recollection of some sort of flashing device temporarily blinding me.
