I think he'd be gold as a heel commentator with a similar character and look he had briefly in TNA. Could you imagine him and JR together?

Funny you mention this. For years in an e-fed with friends, we had a Tony/JR commentary team. JR would always condescend Tony, slap him around, etc. Tony was a sniveling little brat who was prone to screaming "ITS STING!!!!!!!!!!!" or "GOLDBERG!!!!!!!!!" or "BULLS***!" for no reason at random times.

He was in the WWF years ago. He was bloody awful on the PPV's he commentated on (SummerSlam 1989 and Royal Rumble 1990). He was bloody awful in WCW. So, Nay.

I"m actually sitting here trying to think of someone in the wrestling business I hate more than Tony Schiavone.
And it's not happening. I'm drawing a blank and a half.

Tony actually used to commentate with Ross in the NWA and they were very good, very professional. Sadly these days you have to be a character(Like JR) and say what you're told to say incessantly(Like Schiavone in WCW) and that's why everyone's down on them. I challenge anyone to tell me Schiavone and Ross sucked as commentators in the mid to semi late 80's era of the NWA and provide examples

Tony says he hates the business, but I still vote yay! Why? Because he is still better than Don West, Michael Cole, and Tazz.

I hear that he enjoys his job as a sports director somewhere at some radio station in Georgia. I have my doubts that he'd hop back into the world of pro wrestling.
With that said, I actually like Schiavone, and I'd say he's better than most of the pbp men in the industry today.

He doesn't fit with the WWE. He was more of an NWA guys.
And let's be honest he'd be way better than Exnay Tenay

When he came back to the NWA back in 1991, him and JR became a commentary team for the PPV's and for WCW Saturday Night until Jesse Ventura came along. Tony was great still with JR and was better when he played off of Jesse Ventura in 1993-1994 when Heenan came along. Tony was more suited to a slower pace of wrestling like what you saw in the 80s and the early 90s NWA-WCW up until 1994. He couldn't adapt to the faster style we saw in the late 90s.

The Steiners, Muta, Vader, Pillman, and Sting did not wrestle slow paced matches
