I got back into WWE for a bit back then, then after a few weeks tuned back out. Benoit winning the title was great, and then I thought he'd be given a push. Instead, triple H became the main focus of the show, and Benoit holding the belt meant nothing really. It did cement my dislike of HHH, because it showed that he wanted to be the focus of the show whether he was champ or not.

I knew it would get this bad after the very last Nitro ended back in '01. This is what happens when there's no competition. The Monday Night Wars brought out the best. Now that there is no real mainstream competition, the 'E doesn't have to bring the best. They can keep pumping out the same boring, predictable shows week in and week out. And until TNA improves, and gets it's act together, or some other fed gets big enough, WWE won't get better.
Personally, I blame everyone 14 years old and younger for eating this stuff up (you should see my girlfriend's younger brother mark out for Batista, and Cryme Tyme >.>). If MTV, and today's Nickelodeon have taught me anything, kids will watch anything if it's dubbed "cool"....

HHH on burial form again last night. His predictabilty makes him so boring. I just can't be bothered with im anymore so I just fast forward his segments.( the advantage of not watching Raw live)

Yet ya ressurect a thread just to discuss him? Just sayin. I ressurected it because it was in keeping with a similar theme. Why create a new one?

Not to say Trips has the best record in putting over young talent, or that much of his "squash-o-matic run" a few years ago was nothing more than an "I'm better than The Rock" spree, but here's some food for thought. In total, Trips' ten runs with the belt have totalled 880 days over a span of some 11 years with the comapny. In his five years with the company, Cena's 3 title runs have totalled 807 days. I think a big part of it, also, was that Austin had just left. I think Undertaker was out with an injury as well. Rock had already departed. So triple H was the last of the attitude era bigshots around, and yeah, it went to his head a bit. The thing that people are willing to forgive Cena for, though, is that he is just being made out to be the company darling right now. Triple H is married to Nipple H. He has also been a main eventer far longer than Cena has. He is a former member of the Clique. He just has that insider where he could, most likely, get whatever he wants whenever he wants. For that, a lot of people are unmerciful toward him.

In amoungst all the 'HHH wants to be the focus of the show' stuff, has anyone got any proof that is it actually HHH, being an arrogant dick to everyone and saying 'Keep me as the star?' or is it just assuming because he is married to Steph and once played a paranoid heel who didn't want the title to be passed down to the younger guy in his group?
HHH was the second most over guy last night on that show. They need to keep him strong, so it's good for him to get back momentum by beating down Carlito. Whether people like it or not, he is still one of the biggest stars there, if not the biggest after Cena, and so it is not actually time for him to be phased out, jobbing to mid carders when he is still a main eventer in his own right. When he can walk straight back into a title feud after being booked against mid carders for a couple of months, it will be because of the way he is booked during those feuds. He would be a credible challenger to the champion, where as Carlito wouldn't at this moment in time. As HHH is still a bigger star than Carlito, it makes sense for him to be able to come out on top in his feuds.
Carlito will get his push, but this isn't his time. He does still get heat merely being in a feud with HHH, the boos he got last night and the 'Carlito sucks' chance last week prove it. Just because he isn't coming out on top, it doesn't mean the feud isn't doing any good.
If HHH lost and Vince run, and HHH didn't give out a beating to truly remind everyone who the man, HHH would look weak. That isn't good for business right now, as HHH is still a big star. When he truly does get too old, and there are plenty more stars bigger than him, then he will drop calmly into the mid card/backstage and job more. Right now though, that doesn't make sense.
