Holy crap!
This is weird, I was just saying the other day that it's amazing how Cena's been on top for two years and hasn't suffered any major injuries.
While it'll be interesting to see what happens, it dtill sucks for him. Hope he can recover quick.
though I am happy someone new will be champ!

Cena out with pec tear, must surrender WWE Championship Written: October 2, 2007 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – WWE Champion John Cena has suffered a complete tear of his right pectoral tendon and is heading into surgery, according to noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. Because of the seriousness of the injury, WWE officials will not allow Cena to compete this Sunday at No Mercy, and he will have no choice but to surrender the title. Dr. Andrews said Cena could miss between six and eight months of action. Cena was injured during his match Monday night on Raw with Mr. Kennedy. Before visiting Dr. Andrews, Cena had said, “No matter how serious, the injury, one way or another I’ll be ready to compete on Sunday.” But despite Cena’s vow, WWE officials will not allow him to compete at No Mercy. Therefore, he must surrender the WWE Championship. WWE officials vow that there will be a WWE Championship Match this Sunday at No Mercy and that there will be a new WWE Champion. I guess this means Triple H is gonna need to double his gay jokes every week just to meet the Raw quota.

And I don't mean that in the positive sense.

I was more on the boat that agreed his run as Champ was getting stale, but he doesn't deserve to go out this way. He was the longest reigning WWE Champion since...Savage, was it?

Well, these are gonna be some trying times, both as wrestling fans and for the promotion itself.
Bound to be interesting, at least.

It may be good for his career to get the time off, as he was getting pretty stale, and his title reign had long since been amusing. However, I feel really bad for him, as he seems like a good guy and I don't hate his character or in-ring work.

I'm not a huge Cena fan, but I respect the guy a lot. Hopefully, he won't push it and will make a full recovery.
I guess the best option now would be to have No Mercy start with an open battle royal to determine who will face Orton for the vacated title.
The question is which direction would they take it? Would you choose a Raw mid-card face (Hardy, Rhodes) to job to Orton, or would you import a face from Smackdown (Taker?) to defeat Orton and fill the major void Cena will leave.
Decisions, decisions...
