Well, if the whole company just vanished off the face of the earth, I'd be confused.

Then the professional wrestling industry would pretty much be dead and buried in the U.S.

Then the professional wrestling industry would pretty much be dead and buried in the U.S. Naw, the pro wrestling business would be marginalized for a bit, but some entrepenuer with too much money will fund a new promotion, and/or tv networks may decide to start their own promotions, and with the freeing up of talent from the WWE's demise and the lack of competition from Vince, things could get very interesting and (hopefully) entertaining again.

Then the professional wrestling industry would pretty much be dead and buried in the U.S. The realistic answer.

I could see NWA trying to bring back some version of the territories

Wrestling would be pretty dead for a few years, maybe till 2010 or so, somebody funds a new promotion. Guys like Hogan and others won't let it die.

Vince McMahon would have to lose 700-800 million dollars really quickly for WWE to die in the next 10-15 years. The only way to lose that kinda money is go to Vegas and put 800 million dollars on red and black comes up.

But even the XFL, where he lost 30 million (or so) was in a year where the WWF made a crap load of money. WWE would have to stop making any money at all for 15 years. No tv contract money, no merchandise, no tickets, no ppv buys, nothing.

The casual wresling fan base would have to completely abandon them, and in order for that to happen we would have to see either a rise of a legit competitor or said fanbase would have to evaporate entirely. So either WWE would be replaced by a new wrestling monopoly, or the American wrestling audience would be reduced to smarks. And since neither event is even remotely plausible, speculating on such matters is pointless.

The USA network would fill their two hour timeslot with Dr. Steve-O and I would replace the time I spent on watching wrestling to watching lawnmower racing or squirrel skiing on ESPN8, The Ocho.

I'd imagine that wrestling would go back to territorial at first. However, with the availability of cable mass media and the internet now available the territorial system would not work smoothly like it did until the mid to late 80s. I would imagine that there would likely be a couple nationwide wrestling companies that would distance themselves from the others in exposure. In a way wrestling would likely be better off in the longrun if the WWE were to go out of business. And in actuality, it is not like marks are enjoying the WWE right now anyway themselves.
