so NIS America is bringing over hyperdimension neptunia, a game about anime girls who represent the current consoles fighting a literal console war.
I believe this is a game everyone should buy... even if it doesn't look all that good.

Ok.....so If I understood hat correctly.... The "Player" used a savescumming system to reload the game until the optimum conditions are met....then used a BOT to actually find the item. Whatever happened to simply playing a game? He didn't use a bot to find it the item, he used a bot to select a menu option.

Now that you've watched that video, let me tell you what the hell just happened.
King's bounty is an old pc game that was ported to the sega genesis (the version you're seeing being "played"). The goal of the game is that the king sends you on a quest to get a magic staff that's randomly spawned through out the game world. One of the places it can spawn is right outside the starting point.
What happened in this speed run is that the speed runner kept reloading the game and used a bot to select the menu option to search for the staff. This was to cut down on time, because hey why not?

The bottom line here: there's no reason to jailbreak a PS3 unless you're looking to 1) use Linux on your PS3, or 2) pirate games. If you want to use Linux, the PS3 is such a low-memory "PC" it's hardly worth running that type of OS-- but if you had access to the GPU (which you didn't with the OtherOS, but you would with a jailbroken PS3) it would be able to play some really old Linux-compatible games I guess. Sacrificing the ability to play current PS3/PSN titles for just that, though...?? Ultimately, only pirates would even bother to worry about doing this, as most people have full access to everything they need with a PS3 already (free media center, free internet browser, built-in blu-ray player, access to user-created customizable desktop themes, etc.) If Sony gets a court to see that fact, it's hard to justify having the 'freedom' to do whatever you want to a purchased PS3-- seeing as how it's already the most 'open' console ever released on the market without being jailbroken. You don't need to jailbreak a ps3 in order to pirate games, all you need is a usb thumb drive.

Yeah if somewhere in that EULA they put something about disabling your console for unlicensed or pirated content and you agree to it, then its pretty much your fault if they brick it. Most people don't have anything to worry about in this situation, the ones that do should be aware of such risks. Yes by not hooking up the console to the internet.

If it goes against the End User License Agreement (EULA), where it basically states your are leasing the product to be used within Sony's parameters, they sure as hell can disable you. However EULA's haven't been all that tested in court, so it might not hold up. But Sony can damn well do that if they want to until some one calls them on it. And therein lies the rub: Corporations do this all the time, even when they're in the right, in a bullying manner because they know people will just take their wounds and disappear. There is no way that would hold up in court. Did anyone sign said Agreement? Get it notarized? Are you made aware of it at the point of purchase (there's a word that also disables the argument) that you're only leasing it? Does the PS3 have a system similar to regular computers that every time you start up new software, you have to click to agree? Even then, the programs sure, they can "lease" those out to you if they hold up a screen that you have to check-mark before moving on, but that doesn't mean they own the system itself. From as far as I know, they're not shutting down the system, they're just stopping you from using their online service which gives them the authority to do what they want. Now where the issue gets a bit hazy is that you may need a psn account to play games, and if they ban you from PSN because of the EULA... yeah.

The Xbox 360 is actually pretty good about stopping hackers. Mainly because it physically changes it's hardware when they issue new updates to it. That's why you need a mod chip to pirate on the damn thing. Which Sony will likely do, but it took what, 4 years? To break the ps3, 360 was broken before the damned thing came out it seemed like. No, the ps3 won't change it. The reason the ps3 took so long to hack is because they put in the "other os" feature which allowed you to run linux on it. Because all hackers want to do is run linux on everything the ps3 didn't get hacked. Once sony removed it from ps3's, this pissed off the hacker community who promptly went to work breaking down the ps3 security system. Now the ps3 can be hacked with out even opening the thing up (hell to pirate games all you needed was a usb key before this). And now hackers can do all kinds of weird crap with linux on their PS3s. But back to why you need a modchip on the xbox 360 in order to pirate games or hack the console. The xbox 360 Uses eFuses as a security feature. What are eFuses you may ask, well thankfully someone has written a detailed article on what they do. Basically they allow microsoft to stop the device from being downgraded, and this stops most hackers from tinkering with the damn thing (unless you have a mod chip which is a work around, but that's another story). So as far as I know (and I could be wrong) the cpus in the ps3 don't actually have any eFuses, so hackers can mess with the damn thing as much as they want.

I know you can skip that, with something under the log in box. That what usually happens. they made it to where it was mandatory. This ticked me off.

Yup and if people are desperate enough they will learn a way around Sony system of stopping it. Like everything nothing is "Chipped", "Jailbreak" proof completely in my opinion. The Xbox 360 is actually pretty good about stopping hackers. Mainly because it physically changes it's hardware when they issue new updates to it. That's why you need a mod chip to pirate on the damn thing.

This is all damage control.

Well, the first TMNT film was supposed to be a tribute and literally captured the darkness of the original comics. But of course parents started to complain about the violence, gritty, and dark nature of the film and turned them into kid products. Although the idea of turtles becoming ninjas is pretty cool and was the perfect kid product. even then, the original film isn't as dark as the comics.

Especially considering that the first comic is really a parody of daredevil and ronin, and a violent parody at that.
Who would think that one day a character who would decapitate nameless thugs with swords (yes the turtles actually killed people in the comics) would wind up eating pizza and be on kids lunch boxes.

I loved Illusion of Gaia. I still play it every now and then. One of those games where I got a big adventure feel while playing it. The plot barely made sense at times but it was a lot of fun. In addition to Covenant of the Plume, I'm also playing through SMT: Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army. Once I beat it I will have completed it, along with Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2, Persona 3 FES, Persona 4, Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon, Devil Survivor, and Strange Journey since early 2009. I also have Persona and Persona 3 Portable waiting for whenever I get a PSP, and DemiKids Dark Version which I played for about 20 minutes. That's a lot of demons and apocalypses for a 2 year period. Jesus, that's a lot of SMT. why are you playing the first devil summoner if you beat the second one though?

Slowly working on Glory of Heracles 5. I don't really play console RPGs so much anymore, but I'll still play them on the DS every now and then, since it's a bit less inconvenient for me when they're designed around a portable system (ie : No having to have 3-4 free hours in order to make any progress). I like the battle system, the Greek mythology references, and the soundtrack was done by the same guy who does the music for the Shadow Hearts series. I approve of this game whole-heartedly. I'm surprised you like it so much because I saw some gameplay and thought "wow this is every single generic JRPG people think about when they think of generic JRPGs" It made a pretty poor first impression. And if this is the DS one I'm thinking of, the overall look of the game turned me off. But hey, if you enjoy it more power to you.

To the creators of Super Meat Boy Why does this have to exist? I'm going through hell trying to get through just stage 1 Because you're unlocking the kid from IWTBTG, if it wasn't hard it wouldn't be true to the source material. And if it makes you feel better, kayin (the guy who made IWTBTG) was having problems beating that warp zone.
