A whole bunch of us went to Wrestlemania 14 up here. Chris Kohn "CK" was one of them, even though I seldomly talked to him on line. Thats horrible news to hear. And I remember every single one of the names you just dropped. I'm trying to remember who told me that, but it was like 3-4 years ago. I'm surprised I remembered it at all. I lived in a small town in the west so I never really got a chance to get out to meet anyone. I also remember Chris Cornell, his crazy ass sister, some kid from Texas who used to come on and act tough, Fabulous Kenny (I think he was a teacher?), but mostly everyone was from the east coast. I remember Garth Bishop vaguely although not well, and a few other people. I'd have to plug my ancient computer in to get most of this stuff. I remember some kid named Terrence used to make prank phone calls to people I knew who lived in and around my town. I think he called a number out of the classified section that was selling a bull and asked for some of its shit. Ahh the fond memories of wasting part of my childhood.

The last I remember of Ally she was engaged or living with her boyfriend or something. She worked at a gun shop/shooting range, but that's probably changed.
Mike Ventolo- ?
Bob Ryder- Well I think we all know what happened there.
Dave Parazk- I wouldn't be surprised if he's in jail for statutory rape.
A lot of people I remember by nicknames or a screen name of some kind. I vaguely remember Chris Kohn and someone told me he'd been seriously injured or killed, but I don't know if that's true at all. I think he lived in Oklahoma someplace.
I know I moved away from where I grew up. I'm not even in the same state anymore. Too boring where I lived. ;D

I don't think I learned it watching wrestling but.....
I'm not going to get married. Ever. And if I do I think the only type of woman who would be able to "get it" would be one who actually wrestled herself due to the ungodly hours I put in as an assistant coach during the season. I literally had a relationship fall apart due to the time I spent coaching and traveling to tournaments and dual meets. I actually didn't notice it for about a week. So that's pretty much what I've learned.

I'm disappointed they nixed Saba's watermelon at the last minute.

I remember I would rag on him because he attempted to try out for wrestling in high school and upon learning it was nothing like the stuff on TV he quit after one day.
I agree, it was kind of an interesting distraction during my early teenage years.

I still have some of the chat text logs from back then saved on my old computer. Some funny, some just plain weird. I think I have one saved from the last night they had chat before the Mexican owners pulled the plug on the whole service. Probably the only person I've talked to at any great length since then was Rob Poole. Ally Willcox refuses to speak to me ever again after I implied to someone a couple years ago she was a ring rat. I wouldn't be surprised if a few people from there got killed. If you remember Dave Merlino he's still around although he refuses to speak to me ever. I guess growing up and becoming semi responsible made some people slightly angry. ;D but in the end I just decided that it was a blessing in disguise since I wasted a lot of time there and occupied a phone line constantly. It was pre cable model/DSL days. Although I did enjoy the chats, the occasional prank phone call, and constantly interjecting anything about amateur wrestling into any discussion. Here was a picture of me in action towards my latter high school years.

He was just recently inducted into the college football HOF as a nose tackle for Florida State. Congrats Farooq.

I remember the fight that erupted when Bob Ryder gave the backyard guys their own forum, and then I guess someone allegedly told Bob that there were kids on a tape hitting each other with glass or something, so Bob pulled the plug on it.
Some of the live chats were great, I remember that a lot of people didn't like Zach Arnold even back then for what he said. The more things change the more they stay the same...lol
A lot of the people who were in there were on the east coast and were big ECW marks. It was a fun thing to do in high school anyway. The boards were littered with a lot of crap, but you'd find a lot of interesting insight and sometimes solid reporting done. The fantasy boards were great too, I remember wasting hours and neglecting homework to do that.

Anyone else here an alumni of those boards?
I remember being harassed constantly by Bob Ryder whom we made fun of for being fat and a shill for WCW. It was a fun distraction while I was in high school, but Prodigy Classic shut down sometime during my junior year of HS so I basically quit following pro wrestling after that. Plus my high school coach said it would rot my brain eventually.
Just curious how many people remember those "good ol' days" during the infancy of the commercial internet.

They have some really good live stuff. I have a couple of bootlegs from various shows and a CD I'm not even sure was authorized by anybody from the Firecracker Lounge. The live versions of Pool Shark are awesome. The only thing about Pool Shark I don't like is how it reminds me of an ex, but oh well. Still a kickass song. The punk version which isn't even a minute long is really good too.
One of the other good songs of theirs is the erie splendor remix of Doin Time. It has Mad Lion on it, but it's a great song if you ever get a chance to listen to it. It was from the second hand smoke album. That same one also has Drunk Drivin which is pretty funny and the vastly underrated Superstar Punani.
As much as I like the songs from the self titled one, it doesn't compare to the earlier stuff at all.

I forget what match or event it was but they were wrestling and it went something like this..
Heenan: You want to know who loses this match? Monsoon: Who? Heenan: Everybody, they're both so bad it doesn't matter who wins they're both losers.

At WrestleMania 4 when he had that package delivered to him and everybody was tyring to figure out what it was. He kept saying "You wanna know what's in the box?" and after like 5 or 6 times he'd dragged it behind the door and he asked again and then slammed the door on the announcer's face.
He also mentioned something once about Kerry Von Erich and Jimmy Snuka signing their contracts in crayon.

Not to disrespect him, but I know he competed as a junior for Canada internationally. Was he considered a threat to ever make the Olympic team? Did he ever have any matches with any of the top big men back then, like Baumgartner, Haselrig, Erikson, etc.?
Also did he wrestle at LSU? Kevin Jackson may have been there around the same time.
Just curious for more of his amateur background.
