Why fire Russo?
Samoa Joe not top-belt champion....yet.
Why defend Russo anyway?

Benoit wasn't in the main event program because Bischoff/Russo didn't book him seriously up there. You're writing like its Benoit's fault, and makes me wonder if you've actually know anything at all about WCW in that time-frame. And no, not everyone has to win the World title, but when you have stars very popular, moving merchandise, and get great support in the crowds.... You capitalize on it, thus Capitalism. WCW failed to capitalize on Benoit, Chris Jericho, Booker T, Eddie Guerrero, Finlay, Raven...... Imagine if Bischoff had, and used them to quietly retire out the old pricey WWFer free agents... WCW would have probably stayed in business beyond spring 2001, and maybe even still be in business today. Fact is, Samoa Joe is a great worker that TNA has squandered, and I felt Joe's pain with that now-legendary promo of his. Finlay was never that over in WCW, he makes a good midcard act at best that's all. I have nearly every WCW season from 92-onward and I'd say I know quite a lot about it. I never said it was Benoit's fault, just saying that in 96-97 he wasn't a main event player. WCW had more than enough with Sting,Flair,Giant Luger,Steiners, Hall, Nash and DDP who were more over than he was. So Benoit did not need to be in the World Title picture at that point as he was involved in a year long feud with Kevin Sullivan from 96-97. If he had multiple chances like Joe did, then I'd say they were similar, but they aren't as he didn't get a title push till late 99 and got the title in Jan.2000. Benoit was not moving any merchandise as he didn't have any, the only merch he had was a few variations of the 4 Horsemen shirt which was a group shirt. Maybe WCW would still be around and maybe not if they had been pushed, but we'll never know for sure. Has anyone noticed that in 2 straight postings, he never mentions 1998?

Dude, Benoit was hot with the crowds through 1998 and 1999...and like other major mid-card stars from Raven to Booker T and so forth, WCW didn't bother to push them beyond. So really, you think Joe getting the strap ISN'T too little, too late? *commence golf clap* He was a hot midcard act, but was not pushed as a main eventer till late 99. Maybe if they did you could say it was too little, too late, but Benoit was never in a main event program with the likes of Hogan, Hall, Nash etc. unlike Joe who's had several main event matches only to come up short. Also, not everyone has to win the World Title. I think I said earlier that they kinda missed the boat on the title push if that is their plan currently. Benoit wasn't in the main event program because Bischoff/Russo didn't book him seriously up there. You're writing like its Benoit's fault, and makes me wonder if you've actually know anything at all about WCW in that time-frame. Hopefully, this will happen since Joe should have been champ long ago. There is no bad time to win the world title and most TNA fans will still go nuts when Joe finally wins the title. Joe is the future of the company and he being the champion would help to mark the difference between TNA and WWE and show the unique strenghts that TNA have. Once they put the title on Joe, all TNA needs to show how different they are is to finally get rid of Russo who is Vince McMahon's crazy clone. Your entire premise is a paradox. If the fans go nuts for Joe as champ, Russo can argue that his booking scheme is validated.

Too Little, Too Late Benoit, January 2000 = WCW World belt, anyone? Not really, he never appeared with it on TV after that night as he was gone the next day and the decision overturned. If he had stayed, maybe, but we'll never know how it would've went down. Also, Benoit was not a main event guy till 99, so it's not they were going to push him in 96-97 when the nWo was the hot ticket. Dude, Benoit was hot with the crowds through 1998 and 1999...and like other major mid-card stars from Raven to Booker T and so forth, WCW didn't bother to push them beyond. I do NOT like the idea of this waiting game idea. If they wait, and Nigel's out to 2008, they've let a month and a half of dormancy get under that belt all for nothing. Get it off him somehow, some way, and you got a ready-built story for when he comes back. Jed Shaffer ~Booking based on "the doctors think". For once, I have to question what Gabe's smoking. Jed, if you were Gabe, what would be your solution? Vacancy? A bulls*** quick pinfall, what?

I googled: "It's no question about it Too Cold Scorpio, you are one hell of a competitor and I will not be a champion that hides. I stand here, before God and my father in Heaven tonight, as I said I would be: World's Heavyweight champion. In the tradition of Lou Thesz; in the tradition of Jack Brisco; all of the Brisco Brothers; of Dory Funk Jr, of Terry Funk, the man who will never die; and the real “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers upstairs tonight. From the Harley Races, to the Barry Windhams, to the... Ric Flairs, I accept this heavyweight title. Wait a second... wait a second, of Kerry Von Erich, of the fat man himself Dusty Rhodes... this is it tonight Dad, God that's beautiful...and Rick Steamboat... and they can all kiss my ass! Because, I am not the man who accepts the torch to be handed down to me from an organization that died R.I.P. seven years ago! "The Franchise" Shane Douglas is the man who ignites the new flame of the SPORT of professional wrestling. Tonight, before God and my father as witness, I declare... myself, “the Franchise,” as the new ECW heavyweight champion of the world! We have set out to change the face of professional wrestling. So, tonight, let the new era begin! The era of the sport of professional wrestling. The era of the “Franchise.” The era of the E-C-W!" Awesome. "What if Shane Douglas never threw down the NWA belt?"

Like mine isn't constructive. I'm just complaining about ROH's booking of their champions the same damn way, the title reigns the same damn way, and title switches the same damn way. It gets to be irritating to me. that's what I am complaining about. Nothing about the wrestling, just the booking of the title and the champions. I want something different from ROH. Hopefully Nigel will be different than the year long title reigns or the short 2 month transition champ like Aries, Noble, Xavier before him If ROH can book his title reign like they booked his Pure title Reign, I'm all for it. i'm complaining about the booking, not the wrestlers themselves just like the people that complain about WWE and TNA. I got an idea that you'll love. Lets give a mid-card title belt to a MIDGET!

I don't know about Morishima's ranking in the history ROH, but you know what?
Symbolically, it represented the time when the ROH World Title became truely a world championship, in my eyes, especially when Japan's Morishima dropped his belt to a limey.
Really, having the ROH belt really makes you a complete somebody.

Of course TNA will try to sign up Booker T. He was a former top-belt champ, and a main event, brand name that can get some asses in those TV taping seats.
Then again, how many black-own wrestling promotions are there in America anyway?

(1) CM Punk's Heel Turn
Name the last WWE Heel turn that's as damn effective at turning someone from babyface to the despised? I mean, that ROH crowd went from verbally masturbating to the departing Punk....and within 5 minutes, they wanted to murder him.
Awesome.

(3) - The Impact Players
You hated them, besides the fact that they're bastards who cheat/steal matches all the time, with Justin Credible whacking the competition with the cane, and Lance Storm the technical whore.
No, you hated them because they're BETTER than you!
