The Universal title seems to be a cursed belt, huh?
Balor relinquishes it after just one day because of injury, KO wins the belt but, from what I remember, people felt his run killed his heat, especially after losing the belt to Goldberg, who only won it so Brock could be champ, barely show up, have a mediocre reign and barely put anyone over, all so the belt could finally get to Roman after a MUCH longer period of time than needed...only for his leukemia to return after eleven years.
And I'm sure that last one was a sort of prolonged 'wait and see' thing, but...geez, this title has not been fun.

Mike Knox getting jealous of Punk 'flirting' with Kelly Kelly despite Punk saying he already has a girlfriend, and yet still the feud continued because of that.

Jot me down as one of the people that remembers more build into a Jarrett/Joe rematch that never happened. I honestly don't know why they didn't use this opportunity to actually make something of Joe, but looking back on TNA's history you kind of just sigh and say, "Yeah, that makes sense for this company".
I mean it's not like you couldn't just change it to Joe/Jarrett after Sting no-shows a contract signing. Or you could turn the match into a triple threat.
But I guess it was for the better anyway considering Joe/Angle was going to be next anyway, and I don't think anyone would want Kurt with the belt so soon.

I've never liked the idea of calling it stupid hall of fame but I liked the idea of honoring the pioneers. So when I heard Sting will be first inductee instead of AJ Styles of even Jeff Jarrett I was reminded once again what TNA was all about. Cause once again they took it as some competition with WWE so they made sure to induct Sting before WWE does. All of that competition existed only inside of their delusional heads unfortunately. Instead of honoring people who really helped them create TNA, Sting for sure was one of them but not the most obvious one, they threw them away to WWE in the end anyway. I'm sure they would kill if they could induct Joe now. Or better yet have they called Punk already? Punk would never go to TNA for anything. He may have burned his bridges with WWE but I'm quite certain he has even more disdain for TNA at this point.

Well damn, I forgot I ever made this post. Guess I'm relevant to this forum again. >_> Seriously though, if you told me that I'd predict TNA having a worse off future with a company who uses an owl as their mascot, I'd have just called it 'TNA's tombstone'.

Speaking of Rico, I loved him tagging with Charlie Haas. A couple that haven't been mentioned yet: -RVD and Mysterio (would have gone far if Rob didn't get hurt) -Spike Dudley and the Big Show (seeing spike in a single strap singlet was funny) Jericho and Edge were looking to end up as a tag team before Edge tore his Achilles, I think. It's funny you mention Jericho and Edge, because after Edge went out with injury that was why we got Jerishow. I think it worked so well that the plan for Cryme Tyme to get the titles at Summerslam was dropped and they let them hold the Unified titles for as long as they did. Until DXk09, of course.

I forget the actual name, but I'm gonna call it The Kabong Heard 'Round the World.
In the time between TNA's leaving Fox Sports and moving to Spike, TNA Impact was basically a web exclusive show, likely streamed on their website before they slowly discovered Youtube. Over the course of the summer and some change in the spring and fall there was a period of time where Jeff Jarrett was no longer NWA champion, the belt going to AJ Styles and then Raven. Raven is prolly one of the few guys I could actually get behind as being a big name for TNA's early days since the guy was a major name for ECW but wasn't allowed to do much in WWE. So Raven spends some time as NWA Champion and I hear good things. Then Spike signs them onto TV, and just weeks before they start airing, a few members of the TNA roster including Raven and Jarrett are on a card for Scott D'amore's BCW out in Canada. AMW come out and turn heel by attacking Raven, JJ uses his guitar on Raven, pinfall, once again he's the champion.
What gets me on this is that while TNA has no nationwide exposure, just access through their website back in an age where your computers and internet speeds couldn't load as quickly as they do now, that's when you experiment with guys being your top contender. And then when the lights are about to shine the brightest, of course JJ has to put the belt on him and be the star again. And the worst part is that the incident lead to NOTHING. No rematch for the title, no second Raven title reign, no revenge on JJ for what he did...just Raven getting into backstage arguments with Larry Zsybysko until he was fired after a match with Sean Waltman. If that doesn't start the foundation of TNA killing momentum or at least testing the waters of Raven being their nationally televised champion...I dunno what does.

Putting the World title on Sting for like three BFGs in a row.
First off, Sting shouldn't have been the main champion of your promotion, rather something akin to HBK's role where he was a grizzled veteran for the younger guys to get over and to make them look good. Second, with all the build up to his first BFG match against Jarrett all that lead to was a DQ finish against Abyss that, because of rules regarding the NWA belt at the time, allowed the big buffoon to win the belt instead. Everything with Abyss is a whole other jar of bugs for another post. Third...okay, I could get behind Sting winning the title maybe once. But in 2007 after Angle was holding the belts? All because he and Sting were the tag champions simply because Angle HAD to have someone as a partner? Or in 2008 when he faced Samoa Joe, who even as a crybaby face champion could STILL have been rescued from the garbage heap he was given?
But no, let's let Sting carry the company because he's a well known name outside of TNA, AND THEN LET'S KEEP DOING THIS WITH EVERY FORMER WWE GUY UNTIL WE FINALLY BURN TO THE GROUND.

Most of the announced card for their big Monday Night January 4th debut. Barbed Wire Massacres and other bullshit. Anyone got a listing of what was planned. Off the top of my head all I remember of what actually went down on that January 4th show is an NWO rehash and an off the wagon Jeff Hardy re-debuting. I don't remember the full details but there was a match planned, then in the middle of the show they changed it to be (I think) Abyss vs. Rhino in the Barb Wire Massacre match...but then showed Abyss and Rhino post attacks in the back area. So whatever the original match was, we got that instead, and there was never any mention of this ever again. It's like they were doing things on the fly, or someone REALLY wanted this match to be a thing and snuck it into the show somewhere, only when someone higher up saw it they sacked the guy and had to do additional backstage stuff to explain why they had to cancel it and make things even MORE complicated!

Is it just a rule of thumb that anytime you leave WWE and have a Shooting Star Press you have to be an ass about it? I remember Billy Kidman called his the best ever when he left, and the guy after him (whoever it was) said the same thing when Evan Bourne was using it. And here we are, with Sydal being cocky about how he executed his.

The story mode in that game started My hatred for Eric Young Mine was way before that but yeah, those tag matches with him basically killed my interest in the story mode.

I don't remember how long the actual length was, but I remember the Nasty Boys were a thing early in the Hogan run. And their only purpose was to make Team 3D look good.
Yes, a team of two wrestlers that wrestled across the big three feds of the 90's and by that point held over 20 tag titles from around the world needed help from a much more out of shape team. How much more TNA can you get?

It is never a good thing when one person wins all belts from a character/booking standpoint it was a horrible idea, Angle had enough accolades already Agreed, Samoa Joe should have been the guy to get the rub from all this. But I think the big problem/what threw a wrench into that even being possible was Kurt was holding onto the IWGP title at that point in time, which wasn't a TNA sanctioned belt so they couldn't do what they wanted with it (Then again, that's the same IWGP that New Japan didn't recognize for some time thanks to Brock stealing the title away. Amazing how much of this stuff is coming back to mind all the sudden).

The best thing to come out of it was when Jay Lethal beat him clean for the X Division, which Kurt supposedly had to fight for to even happen. And TNA STILL pissed that all away by making Jay Lethal one of the guys Samoa Joe beat down on the same show in a post-match scenario I don't remember too well. I'd say only in TNA but I'm sure this has happened elsewhere before and after.

A lot of Scott's Steinerisms, really, but my personal favorite was (I want to say Sacrifice 2007) when Scott said something about "dotting your t's and crossing your i's." Still makes me laugh.

Its not about being legally in the right. Its about being legally REQUIRED to only release his check to a legal beneficiary. Now as for them doing something else for her, you can argue that is scummy or not. I have no argument to either side there. But on the paycheck thing they did the only thing they could do. You are correct. However they could have written a separate cheque for the same amount just as a gift to Sunny without any consequences whatsoever. Having Rob Terry take an unprotected chairshot to the head days after WWE announced they would no longer do it. Even bragging about it on air and interviews. Actually my favourite part of this is that Terry didn't even sell the f***ing shot. He didn't even bump for it and Homicide(?) plays to the crowd without even looking if the motherf***er fell. . If I remember hearing right they did it because they wanted to build Rob Terry up as a monster and told him to no sell the chair shot. That...really paid off, I'm sure. But really, that they did this after the fact was still stupid. Then someone (Anderson I think) was out with a concussion, and then someone else (Morgan? Look it's been a long time...) was trying to be an avenger and say these are bad things, and...just...the whole thing was stupid.

US Open Challenge era John Cena is probably one of my least favorite things ever personally. The 10 billion whiny promos screaming about everything, the majority of matches all feeling exactly the same, that springboard stunner, the fact that he stomped all over Seth's already struggling title reign, that f***ing springboard stunner, the fact that the endgame of it was Alberto Del Rio, that f***ing springboard stunner I'm also really glad that we seem to be past the "you hate wrestling if you don't like this match" stage of fandom, cause oh boy was this a great period for that too. Oh god, the springboard stunner. Gotta be one of my least favorite moves ever. Oh c'mon now, I might have missed this period but it can't be THAT- *twenty seconds later* What the frack sandwich?

First of all, I appreciate that you liked your own post. But yeah, USA used to be a pretty cool channel when I was growing up. Cartoon Express and USA Up All Night were outstanding. Now, like you, I couldn't tell you what was on the channel except for Chrisley and Raw. It and SyFy are two channels that used to be really good and are now really shit. I miss Cartoon Express. Same, even when it turned into the Action Extreme Team I still watched, and then when USA and TNT stopped airing cartoons, it was like...well what's left to keep me glued? Even now I ask that. Unless NCIS is still in reruns there.
