Paradoxically this might be the tipping point where i hate Carolina Hurricanes more then the Rags cause they didn't beat the team I hate the most

They still do Beauty pagents? That surprised me too. I forgot Miss America was even a thing until I found out the lady that won "Miss Congeniality" in the pageant a few years ago went to my high school.
Was she nice?

Rags played not to lose after they scored their goal and it was their doom. Don't know if the Presidents' Trophy curse will hold, but I'm definitely expecting this series to go 7 games now. Let's be fair: they didn't show up at the start of the game, either, Carolina dominated the opening stretch of the first when it came to odd man rushes and offensive zone time. Multiple games in this series could've gone either way, the Rangers had the scoring touch advantage in most of them, but if the Canes are showing up like this next time then there's a very good chance of a game 7. What's been frustrating for us Rangers-haters in recent years is how often you'll see the Rangers get outplayed, but how special teams typically mean they'll win, anyway, since it seems like any breakaways they get are automatically in the back of the net, and that combined with Igor in goal for them is a potent combination. I'm under no illusion that they're going to lose this series just yet, but Carolina's a team you can't get away with playing like that for very long, and I hope it absolutely bites them. As UrinatingTree always says, the memes would be glorious. Meantime, not terribly shocked at Dallas winning; I know a lot of people had the Avalanche here, but the Stars are too damn good. My on-paper picks for this full playoff was Dallas vs. Florida in the final; my second thoughts keep prodding me that Vancouver might actually make a run, but Stars and Cats are just such complete teams. I'm sure Bruins/Panthers tonight will be a totally normal, not at all unhinged affair. We should be used to this... it's how they desperately won any game with Lundqvist

Good to see and not too surprising. Smackdown will get better ratings than anything else they put out there on Friday. I could see a Thursday AEW show being in the cards. Especially if they lose the NBA. They'd be going against the NFL every week in the regular season, and TK doesn't want to do that. And those thursday night games need all the help they can get

25 mil for a quarter is a big discount for USA. It probably helps that its a comcast network so they can afford to take the discount to make them happy since they are continuing the relationship vs. Fox

That's how I felt about it as well. If you're going to devote any time to the tumultuous end of Vince McMahon's tenure in professional wrestling, it has to be more than a 90-second denouement at the close of an unrelated episode. I also found it particularly odd that Jim Cornette was waxing poetically about the end of the glory days of wrestling in response to the Endeavor sale, but that's neither here nor there. Anyway, the entire hour-long episode could have been summed up by the very last person to speak. Dave Meltzer summed it all up by saying that cable television was eventually going t kill the territories, Vince McMahon was just the first person to recognize it and was the one who became the most successful. As I've said in the past, if it wasn't Vince McMahon with the WWF and USA Network, it would have been Verne Gagne with the AWA and ESPN or Jim Crockett with JCP and TBS or the Von Erichs and WCCW. But with the way cable television was rapidly growing and expanding in the 1980s, some promoter would have taken it by the reigns and gone national. It probably didn't hurt that Vince and the WWF were operating in the largest media market in the country, while the others were in Minneapolis, Atlanta, Dallas, and the like. On that alone, WWF already had a head start. People like to make Vince McMahon the villain for destroying the territories and cannibalizing the industry, but he was just the one with the foresight to see what the future held and get out ahead of everybody else. You can make him the villain for plenty of other issues, but he was the one who realized the territory days were numbered with the advent of cable TV. With cable thriving and the Internet a decade away, the territory system was simply unsustainable. Yep. Any promotor who paints Vince as a villain about this is just angry that he did it first. I don't think its all "I wish I did it first" more like "We had a good thing going why rock the boat?" Meltzer was right Gagne or Crockett would have done it if they had the chance.

Just the other day I was wondering: How often throughout NHL history has any game regressed to abnormal power play related counts? I know there has been plenty of 4-on-4s and 5-on-3s in games, but any 4-on-3s? Or even fewer? I was kinda hoping that five-pack of misconducts would result in a 3-on-2. You can't have less then 3 on the Ice. Its why they add a player to the powerplay in 3 on 3 OT
