I'm back to this forum for the first time in years...
I've always been a big Scott Norton fan. Big, strong, and vicious, he made you think he could beat up anyone. He was my 2nd favorite nWo guy, after Savage, when I started watching WCW again in '97. I loved his flapjack stuff in AWA too.

Who was Jim Neidhart, of course. -P
The White Knight was almost certainly Dusty Wolf.
I'm curious who the maked wrestler DiBiase brought in to fight Virgil at the 1991 SummerSlam Spectacular TV Special was.
Chris Benoit was Pegasus Kid.

I'v checked that out, but the rules are too different for me to get into it. Rounds, teams, points, instant contact pins, it's just too different.

I think you all are missing the point. I don't want worked mma. I want pro wrestling that presents itself as a legitimate sport.

Meh. Three counts in amateur wrestling aren't that hard. Just wear down your opponent and use an effective pinning hold. If you hook a leg, hook the head, lock your hands, and roll them onto their shoulders, they won't get out. Just like how Hogan pinned Iron Sheik.

That's exactly it. Mike Tenay used to refer to the Ice Pick as an Asiatic Spike.

They've done this in Japan. know they've done similiar stuff, like Pancrasse, but never anything that allowed pins as far as I know. lus Pancrasse changed lots of other rules too. Rope Breaks lost you points, they had rounds, etc.

Glacier's Ice Pick, heard of it never seen it. I believe it is the same as Umaga's Samoan Spike. Sort of, but applied to the side of the neck as a submission instead of as a strike

nWo sting hung out a while in 1996, then went to New Japan for a long time. He made sporadic appearances as late as mid-1998. As far as I know, it was always Jeff Farmer.

asked a while ago about a shoot wrestling promotion. Here's a similiar but quite different idea. how abou a promotion ran a bit like the old AWA, where they keep kayfabe fully, and treat wrestling as a sport rather than entertainment, but taken a few steps beyond. I'm thinking VERY few angles and storylines that aren't centered on rankings or titles, only a handful of gimmicks, a comprehensive ranking by actuall won-loss records of every wrestler, title shots based on ranking rather than storylines, less drama, and more action.
Aside from a totally legit pro wrestling promotion, this would be my dream sport. We'd get back to the roots of why we all watch anyway, the wrestling.
Sure, the show would still come first, but subtely. The booking would be at the same time easier and more complex, as you'd have to arrange proper win loss records to set up matches. The matches could still be spectacular while being realistic. just think it would be totally excellent.
what do you guys think? Good idea? Bad idea? What do you like or dislike about it?

Who would be interested insomething like this? Basically, it'd be MMA with pro wrestling rules. Limited striking, no chokes, no submissions past the natural range of motion, the ability to leave the ring for a 10 count, and most importantly, the ability to win by pinfall.
The rules are quite different these days from when Pro Wrestling was mostly legit. I think it'd be quite a bit more exciting than the interminable 3 hour barely-move fests of the early 20th century. It's basically my dream sport. I do something similiar in the back yard with freinds.
What's everyone's opinion on this? Think it'd be a good idea? A bad one? Why?

Daniel Bryan rejecting the YES! and screaming NO! I want him to re-embrace the YES! but stay heel, and see him pushed as a "controversial" wrestler like John Cena. Daniel Bryan's a heel?!?!?! When did this happen? I suppose next you'll tell me Kane's a heel too.

Let's try seriously for a WCW chain of command.
Time Warner Board of Directors Ted Turner Pres. of Turner Sports(was this Bill Busch?) Vince Russo & The Powers that Be JJ Dillon and the WCW Championship Committee STANDARDS AND PRACTICES President of WCW(usually Eric Bischoff, but at times Ric Flair and Roddy Piper) The WCW MASTER Commishiner of WCW(the ones I remember are Bill Watts, Nick Bockwinkle, Roddy Piper, and Terry Funk. William Regal was the Alliance commishiner) Long term employees with 'pull'(Tony Schiovonne, Dusty Rhodes, Kevin Sullivan, Hulk Hogan, Sting, Kevin Nash, DDP, etc.) The WCW World Champion Cheatum the leaders of any Faction, with Raven at the top due to his special contract, then the nWo leaders, then all other faction leaders The WCW International Board of Directors(or it's predecessor, the NWA board, which would have been MUCH higher up) Lower Card WCW champions, in order WCW US Champion, WCW World Tag Team Champions as a unit, WCW Cruiserweight Champion, WCW TV Champion, any other champion Robocop Chucky any member of the nWo WCW Referrees any member of Kiss Jay Leno any other wrestler

I just realized, you have Bob Backlund's title reigns listed wrong. If we're recognizing the title changes with his match with Inoki, and Valentine, then it's 3 separate reigns at 763, 672, and 648 days. If not, it's 1 reign at 2135 days. Personally, I count Inoki, but not Valentine. The title was never relinquished, it was simply a rematch with the title on the line again. Bob was champ during the interim. Dazed refs making mistakes don't equal title changes.

I don't get it... Why wouldn't you take a sign to a house show? Is the only point of the sign to see it on tv? I thought it was to get the attention of the wrestlers.

Festus was literally my favorite wrestler at the end of the Dalton Boys run(that's Jesse and Festus. They were cousins. Remember? Neither does anyone else)
Luke Gallows was boring and useless.
I always thought uke should have "fallen off the wagon", started using "drugs" again, and turned back into Festus. Have him feud with a returning Slam Master J.

Flair vs. Hogan for the first time ever in 1991(as far as I knew). Too bad it was double count out...

I'm SO SICK of the NWA hotshotting around their World Title to guys who don't care about it or deserve it. Can we PLEASE get someone who helt the title pre-2007 to have a nice long run with it and get some meaning back to the thing. Even I'm about to drop recognition of the thing for the way the Alliance has handled it for the last 5 years. And I've had it as a world title the whole time. Even in 1994.
Give it to Severn again or something. Put it on a random TNA guy. I DON'T CARE! Just stop hotshotting it around the territories.
