Same as Ric Flair. "I'm old and future hall of famer, thus you should cheer me".

HBK's gimmick is simple, he's a fifty something black man coming to grips with his age while trying to remain hip with the party going crowd in his neighborhood.

I have a better question (one that I have been asking for a V-E-R-Y long time) . . . What in The Authority's name is HHH's gimmick? ?? Heel- The cerebral assassin- he will do anything it takes and hurt as many people as needed to get the Gold. Face- Somewhat of a jokester outside of the ring but when it comes to wrestling it is serious business. But, but, but, but, can we at least have a program to let us know which segment of the show is which HHH character? Or least have VH1 signed on for pop-up video to explain the behind-the-scenes reasons for why he suddenly changed from "penis joke guy" to "sledge-hammer-swinging psycho" in a matter of minutes. A gimmick I get the best is "cerebral assassin" because pretty much every time he's on my television, my brain hurts . . . a lot. Why does everybody have to have a character? Why can't he just be a wrestler? Have you watched WWE? A wrestler is one of the last things it seems they have in mind for any of their guys, especially one like HHH who has to have five to six personas per fiscal month (and at least two or three of those on display each show). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Who wants to bet HHH was the one posing as Mankind Monday? Reports say HHH now has added to his quest of breaking Flair's World Title number the goal of breaking Barry Darsow's gimmick record. -Rajah.com

He got a 100 rating in a segment and now has the Unique gimmick.

He doesn't have a gimmick, it's a personality/persona and that's all he really needs nowadays. A gimmick is something you put on a wrestler to try and get over regardless of whether they're anything like that character. When you're over enough that you draw money and make people care about you, you usually end up as a persona and transcend gimmicks. It's why a gimmick like IRS can't really reach main event level but a personality like The Rock or Shawn Michaels do

HHH's character is easily twice as convoluted as Shawns.
He's a comedy degenerate, king, blueblood snob, ric flair, bodybuilder, bad ass, barbarian, corporate guy, and he just flips from gimmick to gimmick each week.

They've both been around so long that their characters have become garbled... they need a crisis in infinite rings, to tidy up continuity.

Is Shawn supposed to be a cowboy? or a luchadore, or a degenerate or a born again christian? Just what is it with this guy? His character is as much a mess as that rapping marine. Let's see. What is his gimmick? Sexy boy NOT your boy toy Making you hot and shivering whenever he's present (kinda like malaria) And when you see him parading around like Paul Hogan circa the late 80's, you'll feel euphoric. That's Michael Higgenbottom.
