Here's one from left field: Butch Reed. All of the surviving "physique" wrestlers of the '80s are beating the odds, if you ask me.

Never was in WWE but Abdullah the Butcher. With his massive amount of weight and the fact that he's been wrestling for over 40 years (just finished a tour with All Japan) and still going strong at age 71 is amazing.

You know I wanted to do a thread on this but I wouldn't know how to present it without it coming off as morbid.
When it comes to age, Verne Gagne and Bruno Sammartino are still hanging in there.
When it comes to substance abuse, Jake Roberts(obviously), Brutus Beefcake, and Chyna are surprisingly still with us.

And from what I've read, he's still going at the same level that he has been for his entire career. God bless him.

I just heard on a Honky Tonk Man that Jake Roberts is still on the gimmick. He was at a indy show this year that he puked in the ring during his match and was so stoned that he fells a sleep on the mat while selling a punch. Is the word gimmick being used as a filter, or did you do that intentionally? Just curious. Never heard the phrase "still on the gimmick".

The Iron Sheik often uses the terms "gimmick" and "medicine" when referring to drugs such as anything from anabolic steroids to reefer to crack cocaine.

Thinking about it I'm kinda afraid of Jake in rehab, at this point in his life doing hard drugs for the last 20-30 years he may need them to survive. Your body gets dependant on things, and that may be Jakes problem now.
