Thanks for adding that 10 years after the conversation had ended. And the chain existed for 30 years, yes, but it's only been UBIQUITOUS for about 5 to 10. Well I'm just confused how 1988 to 2007 is 30 years 1977. ...not 1988, where'd you get that year? Manic Panic is the same age, they started in the East Village around the same people.

Is TNA so pointless that everyone is debating Hot Topic?

Thanks for adding that 10 years after the conversation had ended. And the chain existed for 30 years, yes, but it's only been UBIQUITOUS for about 5 to 10. So why should Ubiquity decide existence or relevance? Y'know, I forgot what the initial argument was even about. And, I never said ubiquity decided anything.

Hot Topic's been around for 30 years. Just because your town didn't have one doesn't mean the chain wasn't in existence. Thanks for adding that 10 years after the conversation had ended. And the chain existed for 30 years, yes, but it's only been UBIQUITOUS for about 5 to 10. Conversations don't end after you've said something. Forgive me for not checking this thread religiously while I watch impact.

"The first Hot Topic store was opened in 1988 by Orv Madden" that's what I'm basing my info on.

Conversations don't end after you've said something. Forgive me for not checking this thread religiously while I watch impact. I'd say a conversation ends when everyone has stopped saying something and moved on.Also, you don't have to take everything I say around here so seriously. It's not like what I'm saying matters. ;D

Their bags say 30 so they must be talking about when it was founded by the Mac and whoever else, 1988 must refer to when it became a chain under the Hot topic name.

So if they've only been called Hot Topic since 1988....then HOT TOPIC has only been around since 1988. Yeah there was some other store like it but it wasn't called that until then.

Call me crazy, but I would totally bang Susan Sarandon I'm surprisingly inclined to agree. "Mr. Woodcock" still looks dumb as hell, though.
