I hardly see why Pacman qualifies as a Gooker. Dude's actually been pretty entertaining, even given the restrictions. He's actually trying, and it's not like the bookers are having him dominate the shows.
Even though it didn't last long enough to be a Gooker, part of me wants to say "hiring Test", if just because his hiring made me rub my temples in annoyance. His hiring smacked of "now we're just hiring any big man we can get", which put me off considerably.

Hmmm, if Pacman Jones is the worst thing TNAs done this year I think the WWE is going to sail to the Gooker this year with ease.

"Hiring Test" should be removed due to a technicality. That being, TNA never hired Test.
Ok, he made two appearances, but never signed a contract or had a singles match.
I suppose you COULD argue they put him on the roster page -- but Buff Bagwell made two special appearances for TNA last year at this time along with Lex Luger. They didn't wrestle singles matches either but nobody considered them to be on the TNA roster.

Yea, I'm not so sure Test qualifies as a Gooker so much as a stupid decision that TNA quickly scrapped. It's possible it's not even that bad. Perhaps the initial decision was to bring in Martin for one match and then see if fans responded to him positively or negatively before deciding whether to offer him a contract. Obviously the fans responded negatively. TNA's gooker this year is Pacman Jones, or more specifically, booking him in matches AFTER circumstances changed so that he couldn't wrestle in a match. To cement the Gooker, the announcers actually ACKNOWLEDGED that Pacman cannot have physical contact with a wrestler, and then tried to put over how dangerous he is in a 'tag team' with Ron Killings. That's Gooker material right there. The minute they found out he couldn't wrestle, the plans should have been changed to have him be Killing's manager who passes him weapons and distracts the referee. He still wouldn't be worth the money but it would have been better than what we have.

But is it truly a Gooker?
I mean, really, TNA's done worse this year. The thing is, TNA also goes back and forth between highs and lows seemingly on a bimonthly basis, so the truly crappy things don't seem to last very long, but they run together and make things unbearable at some stretches, while other stretches of time feel great and entertaining.
I've said it before: it's the inconsistency that kills me when I watch TNA. I just want a nice, long string of solid shows, and not having to play the 50/50 guessing game of whether or not the next PPV will either be great, or horrid.
That all being said, I just remembered a better Gooker nod: the early days of the VKM vs. Christy feud. The only positives to come out of that were some of the outfits Christy wore.

The Blindfold match is a definate candidate. WWE will possibly win, but TNA will at least get nominated for that one, probably.

Does the act of hiring Vince Russo qualify for Gooker nomination?

Does the act of hiring Vince Russo qualify for Gooker nomination? I think that would have qualified for last year, and by my watch, it was not nommed, so I don't think it will this year.

That all being said, I just remembered a better Gooker nod: the early days of the VKM vs. Christy feud. The only positives to come out of that were some of the outfits Christy wore. This is the most accurate description of TNA 2007 I have read. People can debate over which booker produces the worst ideas, but it's obvious TNA has multiple bookers because the product is so inconsistent. Twice this year I have ordered TNA ppvs (Destination X and Hard Justice) expected to be entertained and have been disgusted. Both times I refused to order the NEXT month's ppv, and both times the next month's show was fantastic. We'll have bad impacts leading into a great PPV and great Spike tv shows leading into terrible PPVs (of which there have been two or three this year.) In the three years I've watched TNA though -- one thing is always consistent. VKM/The James Gang are ALWAYS the worst storyline/angle in the company. That's because they aren't talented or entertaining, and the harder the booking team works to make them entertaining, the more spectacular the failure. They are employed because Jeff Jarrett is close friends with BG James (he flipped off my brother at a TNA house show for heckling James) and because they were a big deal in WWE.

This could fall under Total Nonstop Angle, but the constant pushing of Joe without giving him the World title.

I think the TNA's equivalent of the Gooker should be called the Stomper.

Probably that Sting/Abyss match with the casket lowering from the ceiling which was met with the "Fire Russo" chants or that Electric Cage match.
