From WrestlingObserver.com:
--Oscar de la Hoya's Golden Boy Enterprises purchased Kappa Publishing titles The Ring, KO, World Boxing and Pro Wrestling Illustrated. They have set up a new company called Sports and Entertainment Publications, LLC for the four magazines.

I hope the new PWI drops the kayfabe. They don't have to be a smark magazine, but they shouldn't pretend that wrestling isn't scripted either.

I hope the new PWI drops the kayfabe. They don't have to be a smark magazine, but they shouldn't pretend that wrestling isn't scripted either. I don't know if that'll happen. I think that they saw that fail when WOW went outta' buisness and they got all their subscribers. They haven't let on that wresting isn't a work in 40 years, they may as well keep the same stance now...

Hope they keep the PWI 500 though. That's usually the only issue I buy nowadays.

The last time that the PWI family of magazines actually meant something to the wrestling community is the days of the territories before Cable TV was used by many promoters. Back then, it actually helped to see what was going on in the rest of the country...
But now? It's utterly pointless besides for Quack column, it's the only few pages I read when I'm in the supermarket...

I usually buy the Almanac they put out, and I always wondered are those interviews in their magazine they conduct real?

That really sucks, well, I hope PWI stays around anyway. Being about kayfabe is ok I guess. My fear is it would become something like a smark magazine being written by internet writers.

I went to their website and everything is not only kayfabe, but bad poorly written kayfabe. The PWI 500, the Company review digest, and the Year End reports are the only ones I get with any regularity. And I appreciate Oscar taking a interest in boxing outside of the ring, but I'm naturally worried that wrestling won't be as much of a concern for him, and we could see the end of an era.

"This is a fine day in the rich history of a great magazine, and I am elated to learn Oscar de La Hoya is the proud new patriarch of the PWI family". - Bill Apter
"Although Floyd Mayweather's a loudmouth, HE would've been a better choice to own PWI. Mayweather's a real fighter, not some pretty boy who likes to play dress-up with boxing gloves!!!" - Bill Apter as "Matt Brock"
"My inside sources have a hot scoop that Oscar prefers to hold board meetings shirtless. Yum." - Bill Apter as "Liz Hunter"
