I hate(d) garbage wrestling, excessive vulgarity, breaking kayfabe on TV, and crowds trying to get their chants over, so ECW was not my brand of wrestling. People like me who enjoyed 80's wrestling are naturally not going to be too kind to it.
It was good for what it was. It catered to a specific market and it worked for that time period; a period in which society as a whole was going through a change.

Old ECW: Great, edgy, underground feel to it
New WWECW: Made my own t.v vomit.

The new ECW is not that bad. It's shortcomings stem from the lack of time & exposure and the fact that there is a roster that consists of two handfuls. The pros of this project is that I finally get to see CM Punk, who seems pretty good; Mabel is booked as a monster without being over-the-top; Big Show got a final run; Paul Heyman was good during his reign as the evil corporate stooge; and the Zombie. It may not be as creative as the original, but it has a chance of living on due to being in a good financial spot. Really, I think pros outweight the cons. It just needs time. I'm sure Eastern Championship Wrestling wasn't always very good. Then we have Morrison, who is pretty much the "next RVD" of offense you really don't see anyone else do, because pretty much nobody can. I should have written it better, I do think the pros greatly surpass the cons.

Vince McMahon and the clueless putzes that ran WCW had made wrestling SUCH a joke at the time that ECW first came on the scene, that I think most were SO ready for a product that catered more towards adults than 10 year olds. Of course, fast forward almost 15 years, and we find ourselves RIGHT back in the same spot. Where's the next Innovator at?

But Malenko vs Benoit/Guerrero, Psicosis vs Mysterio, Lynn vs RVD, Tajiri vs Super Crazy, and Bam Bam vs Taz were not garbage wrestling nor breaking kayfabe.
