The Mediocre One's Thoughts: Poor sales? Lack of interest for wrestling in Israel?
Anyone want to speculate?

Last I read Gail Kim missed Impact tapings to head over there and promote. Must suck for them having to turn the plane around.

Probably due to the possibility of an idiot terrorist suicide bomber running into the middle of the show and blowing himself up. I know WWE has done shows in Iraq, but there is a huge military prescience there... not so much in Israel.

Maybe the people were like TN...who? Dont think theres a really big fanbase in Isreal. Or TNA could have been hyping more crap they never intended on delivering.

The real question is: Does TNA have a fanbase in Israel of any size to justify the expense of going international? Even if WWE did Israel shows, TNA doesn't have the worldwide fanbase that WWE has.

I think that saftey must have been the concern that caused the shows to be canceled. The company sent Gail Kim to Israel to promote the shows (if I'm not mistaken) and their website had the shows up on their live schedule. Perhaps they couldn't get a level of security for their performers that they felt was acceptable. The company should always put the saftey of their performers first.

Where exactly were they planning to perform? If it was a major venue, they should have good security...

This is sad, especially considering that WCCW had a very successful tour of Israel in the '80s that completely sold out

Considering how dangerous Tel Aviv is, and bombings, and all that. And since unlike WWE they wouldn't be doing it in the comfort of a Military Base...something like this would fall through

And when you factor in that the shows were to be at the Nokia Arena, which I'm POSITIVE is a high security area, I don't think it's threat of terror.

I'm really not surprised. I've just never known Israel to be a huge wrestling market, and one would think people over there have more important things to do than stay up until midnight to watch TNA.
