What the hell was up with Marafuji kicking out well after the 3 would've landed? It was always 1....2...........KICKOUT! No one else did that and it was really the only problem with their match. Perhaps he's too used to the super-slow NOAH referees...

According to Gerweck Nicholas Cage was backstage. Oh god. Gabe please don't put the belt on him as hope to get publicity! I'm suprised to see him going to ROH for research, rather than WWE, if it's true.

Quick notes - AMAZING show, although after the Briscoes double DQ, the crowd nearly turned on the entire event.
I had to question the decision to have that double DQ and end the first half with the Dragon-Morishima DQ. That said, Dragon-Shima was excellent. I'm assuming they'll have a fourth match.
Other quick thoughts: Claudio-Marifuji ALMOST stole the show. Misawa-KENTA was easily match of the weekend. Misawa put his working boots on for the title match and did not disappoint. The entire Briscoes-AOTF thing just didn't work for me on Saturday. The crowd was dead for it...it should have gone on right as the double DQ happened, or at least someone should have said it right then and there. Things got ugly for a moment.

The NYC show was amazing. The Misawa-Kenta match was amazing. I really marked out when he hit the Go 2 Sleep. My only problem with the show was how they booked the Briscoes- aotf match.

So I got in about an hour late due to them not letting people up the stairs to get in (presumably that was Manhattan Centers' fault, not ROH's), so I'm upset I missed Hero/Generico and Hangmen/Steen and Delirious.
But the rest of the show? Outstanding. Possible show of the year.
Major points to Misawa; he could've come in and phoned it in, but he was ready to go. This wasn't nearly the same spectacle that Joe vs. Kobashi was, but it wasn't supposed to be. This was meant to be an authentic GHC title defense, and that's what we got...and it was wonderful.
I'm also going to nominate Dragon vs. Morishima for feud of the year, because their matches are mind blowing.

Yea, I agree. And a second time when it seemed like we weren't going to get it till the next show. Thankfully all was corrected.
Also check another legend off the list. Mitsuharu Misawa has been seen live by me. Somewhere my buddy Double Deus Ex is smiling.
Next show, Night one...I scored 1st row balcony. Never got closer then 3rd row for the last 5 shows, even though after we get settled and break apart the chairs, it feels like the 2nd row. I hear the balcony is only good if you get lst row.

I'm also going to nominate Dragon vs. Morishima for feud of the year, because their matches are mind blowing. I concur with that. Morishima/Dragon is FOTY, for sure. No two men are rolling out something that intense. Kinda disappointed that it ended in a DQ, but this one is far from done. And Morishima is playing a great heel right now. I had a lot of fun last night. I actually got in early because they let some people in before they shut off the line (sorry, guys ). Also soory I didn't get to see anyone from the board at the show, but honestly, I wasn't able to look too hard. I was too focused on enjoying the show. Even in GA, I got a pretty good view of the ring. Seeing Misawa and KENTA go at it live was an amazing spectacle (and the place almost EXPLODED when they teased Misawa giving KENTA the Tiger Driver '91 from the top rope). It really was an honor to have the GHC defended there last night, and to have Joe Higuchi and Harley Race on hand as well. Everyone put on a great show (the antics of Hero and Sweet And Sour Inc. especially, and the Marufuji/Claudio movie was really a match of great chain wrestling). I'm also curious to see where this whole Nigel/Aries/Danielson thing is going, since Nigel's speech was almost heelish (but true) with him talking about not wanting to come back to soon and further screw up his arm, but then Danielson uses a heel move by kicking Nigel in his bad arm after Nigel yells at him for the repeated nutshots to Morishima. Also, it was really cool for ROH and Nigel to sign autographs for free for the audience. I now have my ticket signed by Nigel, and it is going into a special place. ;D The funniest incidental thing from the show was when the AOTF's "music" started playing and a bunch of people looked to the back in GA to see where it was coming from. I'm kinda pissed that AOTF lost, as I was hoping to see a title change take place in a match that seems specially made for them. But it was a brutal match to watch, especially with Necro using the edges of two chairs side by side as a backbreaker. Overall, it was as good as MM2, the last show I went to, if not better, and it was cool to see a small bit of history happen. Absolutely a great, fun-filled night.

Sounded like a great show, glad to see the Briscoes retain as I'm not interested at all in the AOTF.

'Saw, I'm not even sure if Morishima is the heel...like you said, the whole dynamic that originally involved Dragon/Nigel/Morishima, that now has Dragon/Nigel/Aries, is one where the roles seem to change depending on which direction the storyline takes on a given night.
I will say one thing, however: Manhattan is Dragon Country. Having gone to plenty of Jersey shows, there have certainly been nights in Edison where Dragon wasn't 100% backed by the crowd, or was outright boo'd (the title matches against Joe, Delirious, and Marufuji come to mind).
In Manhattan, though? He's the ROH God. Even when he does something heelish to the largely beloved Nigel, the NYC crowd will eat it up.
All I know is that I love Dragon's work, and I love Morishima's work, so pitting them in a blood feud is just beautiful.
Can't help but wonder if Morishima would've still been champ last night if Nigel's injury had happened earlier. Wonder what would've happened then?

I just got home from our flight back from both shows. I am exhausted after delays, lost luggage, and shady Philadelphia taxi companies, so I will be doing a full write-up of both shows, but will leave with a preview:
WOW.

Hero/Aries was better than Marifuji/Castagnoli....AmDrag is super over, you had your drunk idiots shouting "what" during Joe Higuchi (sp?) reading before the Misawa/KENTA match
I will say this, maybe since it was live, but I have never been so excited/enthralled, hell, even fell for a false finish as hard as I did when KENTA hit the G2S...jesus christ.

Also, when Hero called the champ "Nigel McLariat." That was definitely one of the highlights of my night.

"Oh look, he's totally walking to the ring, In a nonstop action"---Chris Hero as Aries makes his way to the ring.
Also calling him the worst ROH champion, maybe even worse than Xavier...BURN!!!

Yeah, some of the disrespect that the crowd showed during Higuchi-san's presentation got to me a little, especially since it seemed a lot of it was coming from my section, but the people were generally alright, especially when Harley came out. And I totally did not expect to see the G2S at all, so when he pulled it out...man, I honestly thought they might give him the duke. And I didn't completely catch what Hero had said about Aries walking to the ring, but when I see it typed out...that was the funniest thing he said all night.

It came out of nowhere, I loved it! That whole promo Hero cut before his match with Aries was gold, became an instant fan.
Is KENTA the only person in NOAH to take the burning hammer ? I know he was the first against Kobashi.
